  • Japanese dub Soap sounds awsom

  • Im japanese but i have to admit, i like both versions because if u pay attention, the music is alittle different and the deep voice in the japanese version is good.

  • I get the fact that they have to dub it for japanese players but i would rather have a subbed version mainly for the authenticity in that soap and price are british and so would speak english and not jap.

  • The Japanese thought the English dub sounded badass, and the Americans think the Japanese one sounds badass. The issue isn't in the translation, it's just in what we like/prefer to hear. Here, PSPXX3 simply states a quote equivalent to the grass is greener on the other side. He's right.

  • Look, the translation and dubbing is great, there were no flaws to it that I could detect and I'm a fluent speaker. The people here saying that it sucked or there were issues clearly don't know the language well enough.

How I see it, the big complaint about this dub is about how the English version was already GOOD. The game takes place around the world and adds things like people speaking in Russian or through translators. Splendid Scottish, British, etc etc accents are also lost in the dub.

  • How come the japanese people hated this dub? i liked this dub way more than the english one. it sounds so badass! there should be an "English-to-Japanese" patch for the International Version

  • Call of Duty: Ninja Warfare

  • @Key2541 There are 2 versions of JP MW2, a dubbed (this), which came out 12-09, and an English one with Japanese subtitles which came out with worldwide launch.

  • Anyone who knows who dubs it?

  • at first i thought if the players looked asian

  • Can u turn the language into English?

  • @kuhouinn1 yah me too (IDK)

  • @Lalilelulolila japan ^^

  • Could they not just have it in English and subtitle it in Japanese

  • @dylanotoshiro you'd rather hear the dialog mid battle than have to stop to read the thing mid fire fight.

  • @TheBoredomOtaku The Japanese translation is totally shit. So I'd rather have correct spelling, then some shitly translated crap from the studio that developed FINAL FANTASY 5478186461

  • @nickvth2009 Well only if you really cared a lot for MW2's story but multiplayer and anything else not so much, If it's simple enough to tell you what gamemode you are playing, if there is an airstrike coming or a nuke coming etc then you don't need much else in an accurate translation unless you care about the campaign a lot. You only need the simple stuff. Besides you don't get subtitles on multiplayer and if so as I said it would be inconveniant mid firefight if you had to read

  • @nickvth2009 Hahaha, troll.

  • @Utorak007 lol troll

  • i think the japanese dubbing is kind of badass

  • Ever wonder if Japanese people love American dubs and think their Voice Actors are terrible? I know Voice Actors are regarded in much higher terms in Japan, but still, there has to be some terrible VAs over there.

  • I noticed the music is different.

  • For some reason, I get the impression that whoever did Soap made the accent so that it sounded off to Japanese players. Because sometimes it sounds like someone who isn't Japanese trying to speak Japanese.

  • @itak365 if u know final fantasy 10 theres a guy named cid thats the guy who took the voice of soap...his name is Kōichi Sakaguchi..

  • @THEFreak704 No, I meant it sounds like the actor deliberately voiced Soap to sound like it would be foreign to Japanese players.

  • when can Vietnam become one of those top countries so we can have viet dubbed and subbed games? :(..

xà bông: hút thuốc xong rồi, đi thôi!

    con gián: tuân lệnh!

    ...==" never gonna happen!

  • i want this version lol

  • @ImmortalAgent yeah me too!!

  • While the voices do sound out of place, can't deny that yes, they did do a good job at the actual acting.

  • That's some badass Soupu MakuTavishu.

  • The language should ALWAYS be original. Subtitles in different languages are much better than redoing the language itself.

  • Should have had Norio Wakamoto voice Shepherd, he would be a lot more intimidating.

  • How did they translate "Oscar Mike" over into the Japanese version?

  • @SakuraMaxx Osukaru Maiku? :D

  • japanese sounds good

  • soap's original voice is better

  • i´miss good old english with subtitles....

    was always better

  • i this this sht in jap and why does the main charters have to speak jap just let them speak English and just make jap subtiltles plus soap is freaking Irish.....

  • okay frist off soap has a irsh accent why coukdnt theym get an irsih guy speaking jap ? it sounds stupid but it least it makes sense

  • This is the dumbest thing ever. A military arm formed by the english speaks japnese on a daily basis, oh that is so normal. The transition is terrible. Their voices are just exaggerated and annoyingly loud.

  • @rogertime07 dude wtf this is 2010 not -2010 dont spam

  • the language and subtitles make it feel like some capcom or konami game hahaha

  • well people also complains when animes were converted into english dubs. So I think this is their revenge.

better to let them keep their own language. we still can depend on subs than dubs.

  • call of duty hentai warfare

  • @cwj415 I like "Call of Duty: Modern Hentai 2" better lawl.

  • its looks cool 2 me :)

  • dubs are almost always bad. weather its japanese to english or english to japanese or any other language

  • @CapitanKurosaki I dunno, the Spanish dubbing of Gears of War has proven pretty boss.

  • mactavish(soap) needs a deeper voice sounds to anime

  • @barrak101 who cares! still sounds good.

  • @barrak101 anime is good for him!!!

  • Helping the economy suck, are we?

  • The biggest issue is that they don't sound like soldiers. They sound like anime characters.

  • If Modern Warfare was Japanese, they wouldn't be shooting Machine guns, they should be throwing Sharingans and throwing knives. And maybe swords for melee weapons.

  • ...

    Please tell me you're joking.

  • Why does mctavish sound like a faggot?

  • Wow, I went to the Japanese Amazon site (thanks to Google translate) and a lot of people weren't happy about the dub. In my opinion Soap has a really cool voice but it just doesn't suit him.

  • Soap's voice in Japanese is so cool!

  • @slaserdude i know

  • doesnt sound too bad!

  • Roach: Captain MacTavish, what happened to your Scottish accent?

  • roach sounds epic =D

  • I love how Japanese say "lets go", it just sounds so cool

  • @emperor3000 it is quite badass...

  • it dont sounds so bad you only have to get used too

  • Mangekyou Sharingan.

  • it sounds like itachis voice O.o

  • favorit lvl

  • better than english

  • No, the English version is miles better. Even most Japanese players hate this dubbing.

  • @speedycatz The general consensus is that Square Enix fucked up the localization. Part of why MW2 failed so miserably in the country is that many people in the niche that actually care about this kind of game just got the American version of it (entirely possible since PS3 games are usually region free).

  • @speedycatz im japanese but i would play it in English

  • Comment removed

  • OMG this sounds really good =D

  • wtf anime call of duty

  • The radio effect in Soap's voice is missing, but maybe that's asking too much from a dub.

  • I mean they're missing in several instance.

  • YES ENGLIS RULE LOL!!!

  • In Japanese version, "No Russian" is mistranslated into "Kill them; they are Russians" XD

  • lol wut?!

  • just google it...

  • @MetaIhead89 LOL

  • i agree with some of guy. this is just not right i have seen tons of video games and movies thet are translated into japanese and most of their qualities are brought down.

i also dont understand what that kid is trying to do; your objective is to not to kill all of those guys, he is wasting his time. just saying....

  • ever want to do something aside from the objective for fun? Ever played a sandbox game where you can kill anything you like that's no part of the objective? just asking

  • hahaha xD

  • the japan version sounds pretty good, i dunno why the japanese are complaining about bad voice overs?

  • if you don't understand japanese, you can't really say how it sounds.

  • actually then you can say how it sounds, i mean lots of people say afghan (i am afghan) sounds like pakistani, but i cant figure this out, cause i understand the words and i cant listen to the actually sound

  • There are a lot of bad translations. Since you don't understand Japanese, you can't justify how bad it is.

  • how the fuck fuck do u get the japanese version anyways!??

  • @wenomz97 but the game in japan?

  • @arcticrecon buy*

  • English version is the original one, Russian, spanish and other versions really suck at it, ruins the atmosphere.

But japanese version is pretty good, voices are pretty deep, thumbs up.

  • u guys game 5 thumbs up to wsadrfc for him telling u that the subtitles were bad in jap translation problems i believe? next time u see jap characters don't be so quick to give it a thumbs up

  • How do you know that this is being played on the 360?

Anyway, I'm probably not used to Japanese voices enough to notice if these ones are good or bad or not, but it almost sounds like the English voice actor for Soap's talking in Japanese!

  • Look at the D-pad image.

360 and PS3 versions have different looks.

  • japanese and playing on a 360?

  • i like watching this game in a different language :D

  • I think soap in my opinion sounds better with a Japanese dub (his accent drives me crazy in the English dub)

  • What are you talking about? His accent's awesome.

  • i just think its too much for soap to handle :)

  • In my opinion, Soap's accent is the only part about him that ISN'T awesome.

  • wry you h8 english people :<

  • no i think it sounds better to me like its more mysterious

  • Haha

  • rofl hes playing it on the xbox

  • shit

  • Do japanese even play on the 360? LOL

  • MW2 isn't a 360 exclusive retard.

  • Oh, right, I forgot. Tank you for very kindly pointing that out.

  • Wow. I would love to play this with Jap dubs. Then again they want to have the same but in English.

  • they probably have a lenguage option. How come we don't? I'm learning japanese and playing american games in japanese is a huge help. I've played Halo, Gears of War and Bioshock and they all sound AWESOME! especially Halo and Bioshock

  • Theres no language option

  • No? hmmm. Castlevania games have lenguage options.

  • Fuck is a "lenguage"?

  • so I spelled it wrong by accident. sue me

  • SUBS NO DUBS

Well, they can import it from the US to their PS3's and get subs, I guess. I think. Maybe. I dunno.

  • Oh,What the suck Localize!

  • Yeah, except the Japanese dub is terrible and now the Japs are pissed because instead of playing the game like it was originally supposed to be enjoyed in English voice overs, the Japs have to listen to crappy Japanese voice actors ruin the games narrative.

  • Well, when I heard they dubbed in japanese, I feel like i'm watchin anime.

  • Yeah, you might like it, though you don't understand a word of it, but in Japan they want the original VO. Over there, their like the opposite of us.

  • When your watching anime do you prefer the original Japanese voice over or the crappy English dubs? Of course, you like it more in Japanese with English subtitles of course.

Your anime's sound better and more authentic when their heard in the way they should originally be enjoyed, in Japanese. That's exactly how they feel over there in Japan. It's vice versa really. They preferred the original english VO rather than the crappy Japanese dubs.

  • @jShazBOT: Here's the problem with your logic. What about anime like Halo Legends and Batman: Gotham Knight? how should we watch those 2? if we watch it in Japanese, wouldn't Master Chief and Batman sound strange because we're not used to hearing them in Japanese (unless you got used to their Japanese voice). if we watch it in English, wouldn't we be violating the "never watch anime in English"? Also did you forget that Afro Samurai (another anime) never had Japanese audio?

  • @mdo7

In Halo Legends case, I think they can be enjoyed mutually in Japanese or English because it's really a combination of Japanese animation with popular American subculture, Halo.

  • @jShazBOT: Yeah but let say a anime fan plays Halo and hate English dub on anime. this person watch Halo Legends, how should this person watch the anime. If the person hate English dub but hearing Master Chief in Japanese will sound weird to this person he's not used to hearing Master Chief in Japanese. How should the person be able to watch Halo Legends. That's the fault logic in dub haters, I don't mind Halo Legends in Japanese dub because I have seen American stuff dubbed in Japanese.

  • @mdo7

Same applies to the Metal Gear Solid Series, a Japanese-made video game that usually takes place in an American setting and usually even uses America's history as a backdrop for it's story (i.e. Cold War between America and Russia). The characters, settings, and story seem to be very American, yet the games have that Japanese touch to it.

  • @mdo7

MGS serves as another example because it's a game known over here in the States for it's incredible ENGLISH voice acting (which makes sense after all) and in Japan for it's great Japanese voice acting.

  • Yeah, it does sound kinda cool in Japanese I have to admit. But if I had to choose for myself, I would of course pick talented English voice actors than Japanese ones for this American made game.
