The Future belongs to The Brave? Well that is good, because being brave is my New Year's Resolution. It was inspired by this song, and by some changes I need to make in my life. It should be an interesting year!
Who bloody cares who is what religion? Aren't we all fans of CXS? Why are we arguing silliness, rather than enjoying an amazing song? I can easily see this song relate to all religions, not just to Paganism, or Christianity, or whatever.
sorry to hear about all the poor ''pagan'' child here lol! I have a little riddle for you all alchemy is to christian what Cabalah is to jewish, what is alchemy!?
The word "Pagan" is offensive. It's basically Christian slag for "redneck" or "hill billy". Look it up. It originates from "people who lived away from towns, and were ignorant to modern changes".
This band is soooo awesome. I saw them live last night actually at DragonCon in Atlanta, GA. My boyfriend is head security for them at D'Con....So I got to watch the whole show from side stage. They are awesome!
Yeah, I can only admire Rogue's talent and his passion--but his ideals I cannot help but reject. The road to perdition is broad, diverse and accommodating of many different forms of vice, including intellectual vice.
What I mean can be best understood through this song: watch?v=CSI8QMz2Wrg
Note: Being more of a Thomist, I don't quite agree 100% with the Reformed philosophy of BTA.
This is the greatest song I've heard in a while, it really saved my life a while ago an I think the video is just great! It fits the theme perfectly and is very well made!
I love that part because I have met a lot of people who are only nice and good because they fear Hell. That is the problem with believing in almost any religion that has an afterlife.
I agree, you should fear Hell. HOWEVER, you shouldn't be kind simply because you fear Hell. God can see inside your mind and He will send you to Hell for acting kind but truly being selfish.
@MrPazzo00 48 - yeah, real young; England, Honduras, Costa Rica - is that travelled enough for ya? Ever dined at a Burger King with guards with AK47's at every door? Thought not - talk to me when you grow up.
But, seriously, the Buddhist's have an idea called "expedient means." It basically means that all the prophets of the ages told people what they needed to hear at the time but never truly revealed the greatest of truths; partially because people couldn't understand it and partially because language itself limits reality. If one thinks along those lines, than people who act good out of fear do it because fear is all they understand.
I have been listening to Cruxshadows since 2001 and enjoy their music. As time has gone by they have drifted from their roots. I think they need to take a look back to songs like "Deception" and "Winterborn" which had a great orginal sound and lyrics.
To me it shouldn't matter if it sounds similar.. I mean.. Usually same artist = make similar stuff. The point is it is just as good if not better...and it does sound different enough that it's obvious they worked on it. Adding new sounds makes it completely different and there'd be minor audio differences we can't pick up with average hearing but it's still there.
Rogue actually 'splained the idea of "Quicksilver" in an interview with the band. Quicksilver is another term for mercury (Hg) and was heavily involved in alchemy back in the day. Alchemy, transformations, etc. And that alchemy transformation is emphasized here. A transformation from hopelessness to hope, from fear to courage, from despair to victory.
@Boy75402 the symbol on the left is the alchemical symbol for the substance/planet Mercury (Quicksilver) Jupiter is on the far right, & there probably a couple I didn't notice yet
@CowboyGhostie The symbol with the horns and a "+" base is Mercury. Jupiter is the fourlike shape. Alchemists used astrological symbols. If you look closely, you'll see a grey astrological chart on her face with some planets marked. But I don't remember alchemists using astrology and the reason for using it.
I know because I study the real astrology for many, many years. The horoscopes in magazines are a disgrace to real astrology. But people base their opinion on astrology on them:/
@AntipaladinPedigri Hmm. Thought you meant the other cheek. Nevermind. Regardless, check the image out Full Size, the astro symbols make a lot more sense. There's a partial birth chart really faded out.
I agree it has strong shadows of eye of the storm. I mean seriously... when the vocals start up you can practically substitute "I believe in what I fight for, and I have paid for it with pain etc". Not a dig I love CXS, but downgrading his valid comment is a little defensive.
What he means by that, is that if you throw away your dreams (i.e. the future) you are left and stuck in the present, with no dreams at all. or something along those lines
Went to their concert in Flensburg, one month ago from today. Rogue gave me a heart attack when he snuck up behind me and one of my friends. Bless him:)
Wonderful new track, I'm already singing along, thank you for uploading!:D

As a Christian, I particularly love the verse:
You are not wrong, you who believe
Your will defines your destiny
But if you act in selfish fear
Then truth means nothing
I love that part because I have met a lot of people who are only nice and good because they fear Hell. That is the problem with believing in almost any religion that has an afterlife.

sounds way too similar to 'eye of the storm' to me..nearly the same melody repeated.

I dont see much similarity with eye of the storm at all. for one thing, eye is much more deliberate, both lyrically and musically.

lyrically is irrelevant. I'm talking about audio here. It has nearly the same melody and rhythm, he just sings it slightly differently.
