@raymondl3 Not hard to believe. Redd Foxx had on makeup and gray colored hair spray to make him look older for the show, according to his bio, even his nose was putty on the show, I see because Redd Foxx's nose looked different when he made appearances as himself and not as Fred.
Does anyone know which episode of Sanford and Son this is? I have listened to this video a few dosen times now, but I would like to see the entire episode. If it has a name, perhaps it is on Hulu or something. Much thanks for posting
That nigga said i picked it up for ten dollars i let you have it for what i paid for it!!!!!!!!!! To think he did give him a player deal cuz he could have hit eem foor some doe
That is a Tiple made by CF Martin and Co. Tiples have 10 strings in 4 courses (groups) and are played like ukuleles. That model is a T-28 and is worth around $1500-$2000 if the back and sides are Indian rosewood. Add $1,000 - $1,500 to the value if it was made before 1970 and the rosewood is from Brazil.
I was channel surfing earlier & came across this episode. I swear I love YouTube! This short clip bring back some great childhood memories of my great aunts and uncles singing. and swapping stories from the old days. I was probably the only 8 year old kid who knew about Scatman Crothers, Smiley Rogers, Fred Sanford, the Nicholas Brothers, lol! Thanks for posting!
@loralie5974 According to IMDb, he's an old Vaudeville guy named Timmie Rogers playing "Smiley Rogers." Rogers goes back to the days when African-Americans even wore blackface! Rogers looks youthful for 60 in this episode. "Oh yeah!" was his catch phrase. He died in 2006 at the age of 91.
@SweetSweetWaldo Heavenly Hash! I did not know that Timmie Rogers had passed away in 2006. I used to see him on The Jackie Gleason Show in the 1960's. Oh Yeah!
i like this show, what would i do without tv land? probley go nuts looking for each dvd maybe. thank you tv land for the good shows like sandford and son, the andy griffith show, m.a.s.h., the jeffersons, bonanza, some gunsmoke, leave it to beaver, all in the family, cosby show, good times, married... with children, and even the 90's shows like everybody loves raymond, home improvement, the nanny, family matters, and not on tv land boy meats world. those shows make tv
I really enjoyed this. I recently listened to Stacey Kent's version of this song and it reminded me of Fred Sanford's take on this. I took a chance to see if YouTube had it and wonderfully for me, you posted it! I can't thank you enough!
@beeshor1 No problem, that's the exact reason I uploaded it because I was searching for it one day too. They just don't make songs like these anymore....
posting this!!!! I watched this show growing up. Am 35 yrs old now. Caught this on a "classic tv" station the other day. Song stuck in my head - it's catchy ! Putting it on my Ipod now
You don't hear lyric-writing of this quality anymore. Just a bunch of garbage filled with vulgarity. What happened to 'clever' writing? I think the last clever lyrics I heard came from Ashford & Simpson, who are brilliant songwriters. Many thanks to the poster.
Timmie Rogers did an unbelievable record called Harlem Yank all about a harlem hepcat going to England in WWII and made fun of how they all talked in England and by the end of the song he had them, even the Queen Mother talking black jive, even Winston Churchill. You gotta hear that song.
I was raised tri cultural: a Mexican in a Black neighborhood with some White neighbors. Smith Place in Long Beach, California. We listened to Soul music, Mexican music and country western. Cats like Redd Foxx crossed all color lines, especially when you realize that ain't no color to nasty. But this version of Tis Autumn just reminded of how beautiful music brought all folks in the BMW community together. Tis Autumn. Tis nice. Peace.

I'd love to know who the other guy is, singing with Redd Foxx. Anyone know?
BTW, the song is really by Nat King Cole. Words and Music by Henry Nemo, 1941.
