The typical thing is to call this song and the end credits "sad" but both in my 70s / 80s childhood and nowadays I do not agree. It is hauntingly beautiful and if anything optimistic - complete freedom to travel and who knows what new adventures are in store. Yes of course he is trapped with the Hulk but I never think about that when I hear the music and see a simple, beautiful mild-mannered person with a rucksack on his back walking away. There is pathos in abundance but I do not see sadness.

When I was a kid this music would actually make me cry everytime at the end of The Incredible Hulk when he would grab his backpack and go walking away all alone. It made me feel so sad for him. I was like 5 or 6 years old at the time.

This is a great song for piano rookies to work on. It's slow paced and not difficult at all. If you can play Halloween theme on piano, you can do this no problem. The Lonely Man music is exactly as titled. Depressing, emotional and simple.

I couldn't wait for this to come on on friday night, my dad had bought our first color tv console, he kept his black and white tv with the antenna which he watched the Saints lose on most Sundays. We loved color tv and The Hulk. Those years went by now we have plasma and led. But my dad an old man now still watches that little b&w tv cause he is happy with it, one thing changed though The Superbowl Trophy Resides in New Orleans now, And he thought he would die before they won One....

I was ten when this show was on the air. As much as I liked Hulk kicking butt, the end segment with this song always got to me. You *had* to feel sorry for him hearing this, seeing him back on the road again after things fell apart.

I call myself "Banner4real" not because I'd like to turn into a 7 foot, half-ton, not-so-jolly green giant when I;m anger or outraged (I absolutely wouldn't) but because too many of the things I've tried to do in my life have ended in disaster of my own making, and I've ended up just as alone and sad as the Bruce (Robert or David) Banner character at the end of the episode or comic book edition.
