The riff the Black Crows and the Wildhearts use is a standard riff.It has been used in many songs.I wrote a song with that riff in 1981 and I'm sure I wasn't the first one. It's in the bass line of G-n-R's Sweet child of mine. There is not to many riffs anymore that haven't been used. It's just in the way you present it that makes it unique to you.
@MultiMacnasty haha in teh words of skynyrd......you sho' got that right. im 17 and a musician and am tryin my best to come up with stuff that hasnt been used, but everytime i think i come up with somethin i find out that it has been used, its very difficult lol
I just did a little a research....and your claim is quite a stretch. For a real ripoff, compare Jet - Are You Gonna Be My Girl to Iggy Pop - Lust For Life.
this was their best album (and tour) since money maker. i love southern harmony and amorica (snakes was a bit poor), and lions too. but these were the best two albums. although the southern harmony tour was as good as this one, better than the first tour.
southern harmony was better than moneymaker. amorica was better than both of them. I don't even think its in the realm of personal taste anymore. I think its actually scientific fact by now. the first two outsold this one easily.
sales dont make an album or artist great, or britney would be better than all their albums together.
i just enjoy the more upbeat of their songs. this one, go faster, remedy, the whole money maker album.
the others are too slow, and a bit dull. still excellent songwriting, and maybe musically more interesting, but more fun? better listening? not a chance.
I agree with you about sales, but I didn't know what you meant by "better." and I still have to say, Amorica is top notch its their best musically, lyrically. so it has to be better listening. the fact that it doesn't have mass appeal is one thing that makes it great. and also the fact that its their own- all the critics saying the crowes are knockoffs are silenced by Amorica.
they are very diverse musically. their influences are shown throughout each album, but they manage to put their own touch to whatever music they write and play.
i mean that amorica was "better", in that it was more intricate, more musical, and more complicated, showing what great songwriters and musicians they are.
but albums like this, and the latest album, are just too downbeat for me. 3 snakes is a classic example of them smoking too much ganja, slowing songs down, even fast ones, on tour
waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! love that scream chis has. 2:33.
