@ProfessorMemory Agreed...if they would've taken the time, the video could've been so amazing and creative...I mean their other videos are very interesting. Too bad they disbanded...but Owen it working on solo stuff
@GlitteringWaves I imagine they won't have had any kind of creative control over the video. I'm referring to the sync issues and the abrupt fade out - not appropriate given the nature of the song. Would it have killed GoldFlakePaint to render a few more seconds of footage just to let the ending chord ring out that little bit longer? Nope. It ruins what could've been particularly special, given the intimate setting.
@ProfessorMemory No wonder I'm getting along so famously with you...you're English. Owen really does have one of those voices that he can sing about anything and make it beautiful. Greg Gilbert is like that as well. I heard the Grammatics cover of 'Notes In His Pockets' and was astounded...and then looked at the lyrics and it's about a guy cheating on his girlfriend as I was like 'oh well it sounds pretty....'
@GlitteringWaves I move that we strong-arm the phrase 'getting along famously' into common parlance. :) He's got a brilliant, strong voice. Crazy vocal gymnastics. Turns out he's offering vocal tuition these days. I'm JUST far away enough to make it impractical. :/ Woe.
@ProfessorMemory fair enough, he does indeed...I look for that in indie bands, which is what drew me to the Delays. I was in choir and respect beautiful voices...to me it's all about the voice the lyrics are important but I like the emotion and the beauty of the singing. Well I'm further away...I'm in the US ^_^;
I just know Owen's working on solo stuff since I'm a follower of the Grammatics on Facebook and he's been posting updates. I sent you a friend request!
@ProfessorMemory I think you're expecting a little too much from a live 'blog' video. We would love to have the time and the resources to make perfect videos that Justin Bieber's creative team would be proud of but hey ho this is the real world. This was shot by one person who took a 6hr round trip to have ten minutes with the band before their soundcheck. In the circumstances I think it turned out really fucking well. Oh and both videos were OK'd by Owen himself. Thanks for watching. GFP x
@goldflakevids Woah. I'm not asking for a massive creative outpouring and I'm not exactly sure why you're bringing up Justin Bieber's creative team. My problems were merely technical which were sync issues and an abrupt ending, just in case you didn't catch it the first time round, sir. The absence of these issues would've enhanced the quality of the video. I appreciate what was done. I just think it could've been better. Also, you don't need to swear. Needlessly aggressive, given this exchange.
@ProfessorMemory It wasn't aggressive in the slighest, I obviously wasn't swearing at you. There are always problems when doing videos like this and the sync issues and abrubt ending were both down to instances out of our hands. As I said, we would love to have the time and resources to create technically perfect videos but we don't. I guess I just find it strange that people take the time to be critical of a video that is in no way official or pretending to be something its not. Ho hum.
@ProfessorMemory I think if someones viewing of this video is ruined by a scene being slightly out of sync and a fade out a couple of seconds early (rather than having a door slam) then maybe they're just spoilt... Maybe we should just agree to disagree.
This is such a beautiful song

@GlitteringWaves Indeed. Shame about the video though.

@ProfessorMemory I agree...it wouldn't have killed them to allow a few more seconds...the song is amazing.

@GlitteringWaves You said it, bud. :)

@goldflakevids Spoilt by decent production values, I guess.

@goldflakevids That's exactly what I'm suggesting: "[We're] Spoilt by decent production... etc"

@ProfessorMemory Then I apologise, I thought it was a snidy dig.
