wow she is really good lol a real artist...n she isn sluty she has real skills...good on her, awesome 2 watch...she gives this syle da respect it deserves bc it is hard 2 do da moves she did while she had the stick. go isi!!
Not only she has solid technique (one of the very few who doesn't stop for a second moving vigorously while putting the cane on the head) but she's very expressive and musical. She seems to genuinely feel and enjoy what she's doing - something that makes the audience share her joy.
One may quibble on this and that detail, but the general impression is that she's a real artist!
Izzy! You are such an outstanding dancer. You don't just go out and display dance techniques to music... you absorb the music and become part of it. I wish I had half that ability. You truly BECOME the dance. So asoundingly beautiful. It must be such a joyful feeing!!!
Shaskin by Omar Faruk Tekbilek - it is a traditional Middle Eastern song so there are a lot of versions of it around but this is one of the best. And Izzy interprets it so well, she is just amazing!!!
Isidora you are my favorite dancer. You can do anything. I dance Eastern European dances, belly dance, ballet and I always look to you for inspiration. I wish I knew what your training was in.
Thanks! My degrees in college were in History and Dance, I began belly dancing under a Jordanian instructor and since then have devoured as many styles as possible, both contemporary and traditional. Anything I can get my hips on! I have also studied a little of various ballroom/swing forms, flamenco, Indian, Mexican, and good ole headbanging. ;) I also have studied theater. There's more on my style on my website under Tejedora. So glad you enjoy!
I have to agree with MCristina17 - this particular song is traditional dabke music. Every time I go to a Lebanese festival (like last night), they play it and everyone gets up to dance dabke. It's a lot of fun to dance to, and I don't want to sound like the Belly Dance Police and wouldn't fault any belly dancer for wanting to dance to it, but it is helpful to know that it is traditionally a dabke dancing song.
Izzy has performed and taught workshops and classes in the USA, Mexico and Europe. You can visit her own YouTube Channel at izzytejedora and link to her website for more information about her.
Te Adoro Tejedora! Please come to Miami and do a workshop. I adore your style, technique and fun attitude. Thank you for your many inspiring videos...I've watched them over and over and am impressed every time. Wish you were teaching at the Miami Bellydance Convention Labor Day weekend. Keep the inspirations coming!
I find Izzy to be pure and natural. I also have watched this dance a hundred time and I get mezmorized too. The song is an awesome choice. This cane dance makes me want to get up and move something!!
Lovely, amazing, well enterterning dancer. I'm suprise I've learn to dance to thesame track on totally different way and found way her dance with cane much better than mine!!!
Where is she from? She might lives in Colorado but is she Polish? Russian? Anyway - great dancer!!
Lovely, amazing, entertaining dancer!!! So strange that I've learnt dance to this track on totally different way and found her energetic dance better than mine!!!!Where is she from? She might lives in Colorado but is Polish? Russian? Great anyway
Gosh, everybody diggin' on the skirt! Hahaha! It is just a black velvet sheathe skirt, slit up the sides that I got at Ross for very cheap. *grin* Then the underskirt is a satin circle skirt, unsewn at the sides between the 2 halves. I just pull out the underskirt a bit so it shows from under the sheathe skirt. Voila!
She's an absolutely amazing dancer, and what makes it even more enjoyable to watch is the fact that she is having a blast actually doing the dance. The audience feeds off your vibe whether you are actually having fun dancing or not.
it's my third time watching this and it's like my first. now don't no one shoot me

This is one of my old time favorite songs by Erkin Baba called "Saskin". Isidora has done a great performance on this muzic by Omer Faruk Tekbilek. Well done to all of them.
The exact version that I used came from the album Arabesque, but I personally cut it down for time constraints of the show--it's good be married to a musician and have all the toys. *grin* Glad y'all like!!!!! Thanx!
I LOVE her connection to the audience, the emotions she showed, and the whole playfulness of the dance. For me, the movements and the skills required to creat such a beauty came second to her spirit. This made me glow with happiness.
do you know the name of this exact piece i know is Shaskin de name of the song, but i can't find this exactly version, please help!!!I just loooove it!!!
