the 'well, more people believe in it' clause is less valid than even I thought for a while
not even for the concept that just because more think it doesn't make it right or nothing ever came about just by wanting it
just look back to about 2500 years ago when there were NO christians - when it didn't even exist (I like it already). Just wake up and see that a god is only as eternal as the people who believe in him.
a guy pulled the 'mysterious ways' bullshit on me about how nergal of behemoth got leukemia
i nearly vomited at the implications
but i'll leave it a this: look at the great flood, sodom and gomorrah, the plagues of egypt, jesus, and how these so-called 'demons of hell' look and try to tell me this god is a master of subtlety
no web cam so I am responding here.I would look for any documented miracles or unexplained occurrences attributed to this so called" god "I would study them and my make my decision on whether or not they are believable.I would look at the science of it before witness accounts(because of over hype)I would look at documents as well to see how far back they date. If there was a bible,I'd read it and see if any history matches .Long process taking an open mind to do so.You have an open mind .
this point was what caused me to flip jesus the finger three years ago. you can't compare one religion to another and say one is real and all the others are crap. the only reason the religion you believe in is real is because YOU believe in it
ALTHOUGH I'M A CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIAN (Baptist), I no longer believe that the Bible teaches eternal torment. The Bible teaches eternal punishment, but it's not eternal torment. In my popular Internet article, TRADITIONAL DOCTRINE OF HELL EVOLVED FROM GREEK ROOTS, I explain how and why teaching of eternal torment entered early into Christianity and how Scriptures have been misinterpreted and taken out of context to support that teaching. ~Babu G. Ranganathan (B.A. theology/biology)
SCIENCE SHOWS THAT THE UNIVERSE, because of entropy, could not have sustained itself eternally. Einstein confirmed that space, matter, and time had a beginning! That beginning had to be supernatural because natural laws have no ability to bring the universe into existence from nothing. The supernatural cannot be proved by science but science points to a supernatural intelligence for the origin and order of the universe ~ HOW FORENSIC SCIENCE REFUTES ATHEISM (Article)
In reality science shows that the universe didn't require any supernatural intervention to warrant it's existence. The Big Bang was most likely a quantum event which, as it has been observed innumerable times, don't require any cause. I know which is the more plausible explanation. Naturalistic origins supported by evidence or supernatural origins by a sky fairy conveniently immune to the creation process poofing it all into existence 6000yrs ago by magic? Hmmm, that's a toughy.
Actually on further investigation, don't bother responding to me as you're clearly just a troll with no actual understanding of science whatsoever who simply copies & pastes the same baseless bollox from video to video. People like you are the best advert for atheism by showing others just how mentally debilitating religious fundamentalism truly is.
NATURAL LIMITS TO EVOLUTION: Only evolution within "kinds" is genetically possible (i.e. varieties of dogs, cats, etc.), but not evolution across "kinds" (i.e. from worm to human). How were species living, reproducing if their reproductive system, vital structures, and organs hadn't evolved yet? Read my Pravda Internet article: WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS! I discuss: Punctuated Equilibrium, "Junk DNA," genetics, mutations, natural selection, fossils, genetic/biological similarities between species.
ALL REAL EVOLUTION ( i.e. varieties of dogs, cats, etc.) is the expression, over time, of already existing genes. Evolution is possible only if there’s information (genes) directing it. Only variations of already existing genes are possible, which means only limited evolution and adaptations are possible. Nature can only work with the "cards" it has. Nature is not a genetic engineer! It can't invent new genes. That’s evolutionary faith, not science. Read my article, WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS!
GENETIC INFORMATION DOESN'T HAPPEN BY CHANCE, so it's more logical to believe that genetic similarities between all forms of life are due to a common Designer who designed similar functions for similar purposes. It doesn't mean all forms of life are biologically related! "Junk DNA" isn't junk. These non-coding segments of DNA have recently been found to be vital in regulating gene expression. Read: WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS!
NOT EVEN ALL EVOLUTIONISTS agree on the fossils used to support and reconstruct human evolution. The bones are incomplete. There's no certainty of the bones belonging to the same creature. They can reconstruct whatever they want from these bones, and they have. There's no hard evidence that humans evolved from an ape-like creatures anymore than there's hard evidence that apes evolved from a four-legged dog-like creatures. Read my article: MISSING LINKS THAT NEVER WERE
How does creationism account for the clear order of morphology found in the fossil record? ie. why is it the lower through the strata we dig, the less morphologically complex life becomes? How is it we're able to predict the exact location & strata depth for transitional forms prior their discovery? Lucky guesswork?
You really should familiarise yourself more with what evo theory says, it might make you sound less stupid in future. Missing links?? *sigh* if you say so.
the thing is people like him like to blame SATAN of all people for that. satan is purely a scapegoat these ass-kissers created in order to receive all the responsibility when this god's 'divine plan' didn't go *their way*
Exactly. They do serve a purpose though in showing others just how mentally debilitating religious fundamentalism truly is. Every cloud..............lol
APES ARE QUITE COMFORTABLE IN HOW THEY WALK, just as humans are quite comfortable in how they walk. Even inheriting a slight change in the position of a muscle or bone, for either, would be excruciatingly painful and would not be an advantage for survival. There's no hard evidence that humans evolved from an ape-like creature anymore than there's hard evidence that apes evolved from a four-legged dog-like creature. Read Internet article: MISSING LINKS THAT NEVER WERE.
The fact we suffer so many back problems is evidence that we're still not fully evolved as bipeds. There is a mountain of evidence for common descent & 300yrs of empirically gathered evidence supported evolutionary predictions, EVERY single shred. How about you offer some evidence for creation instead of desperately trying to reconcile your presupposed, superstitious, bronze-age bullshit? Good luck with that.
BLIND WATCHMAKER NO ARGUMENT. Natural selection is no "blind watchmaker" because it can only "select" from variations that have survival value. It doesn't produce variations. It only operates once there is life and reproduction, not before, so it couldn't be involved in life's origins. A partially-evolved cell (an oxymoron) would quickly disintegrate. It couldn't wait ("survive") millions of years for chance to complete it and then make it living! Read: HOW FORENSIC SCIENCE REFUTES ATHEISM
How new information is added to the genome is fully explained & observable. We even know the mechanisms. You're just wilfully ignorant & exceptionally superstitious & irrational. We have no presupposed idea we have to desperately uphold, we simply follow the evidence no matter where it leads. If the evidence pointed to a supernatural dictator in the sky, that is what we'd believe. The fact is, it doesn't therefore we don't. Evolution is a proven fact & evo theory saves lives.
VESTIGIAL A USELESS ARGUMENT: At one time dozens of structures in the human body were considered vestigial until our knowledge about them increased and we realized they weren’t vestigial, after all. It’s now been published that so-called “Junk DNA” isn’t junk, after all. These non-coding segments of DNA have recently been found to be vital in regulating gene expression (when, where, and how genes are expressed). Read my article: WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS!
You should learn what is meant by a 'vestigial'. It doesn't mean they have no use, it simply means they once had a different use. Want examples?
There is still plenty of non-coding DNA, not all of it has function even if some of it has. More straw -clutching. Explain why we have the genes to produce functional tails or full coats of hair? Why do chickens have the genes to produce reptilian teeth? Why do whales, dolphins & snakes have the genes to produce legs? etc.
@ericandjonathan I have never seen a person state such uninformed information in my life. You state if we were one inch away from the sun we would be outside of the inhabitable zone? Wow go read some books other than the bible and gain some real evidential knowledge.
i watched the naked archaeologist he claimed they have discorved abrahams tomb and also jesus tomb because of what the writing said on the coffin..not disagreeing just saying what i saw if that show is reputable i can not say.
We had a priest in Canada defrocked because uncovered the Anglican Church Residential School System in Canada - Canada now has a TRUTH commission and now we have to rewrite our history to reflect the murder and sexual abuse of First Nations children all across Canada - because the Christians considered them hers for you doll "HEATHENS" I bet if Jesus did not rot like those kids did in those unmarked graves he would roll over in his at what Christians has done to the poor man's reputatiion
@92359hg Oh this Minster pardon me not a priest mentioned that "Christians" can be very very dangerous - no locus of control - because they believe they are perhaps "expunging evil" they can kill without a conscience - this is how they were able to wipe out 60 million people when they came from Spain, Europe, Great Britain etc etc is there any truth to this?????????
@92359hg Well for that you might want to look into the history of Rome. Catholicism was made by the roman government 315 years after the birth of Jesus, they made it because Jesus's followers refused to obey their pagan laws, and rome was losing control of it's populous, now enter the phrase - if you cant beat them, join them. This is the vatican, it actually killed christians for being in posession of biblical text, and they are the ones responsible for the conquests. Not true christians. fact
@SupremeAmerican LOL if there was an argument to be made about one god against another i WOULD argue - HOWEVER i HAVE GIVING UP JUST PLAIN BICKERING AND NO LONGER ARGUE ABOUT THINGS THAT DO NOT EXIST - - people in psych wards talk to people that are not there by all accounts religious nuts are just people not on meds for their voices they hear .......... now that is science NO - maybe perhaps - it makes more sense then people killing people over a GOD
@SupremeAmericane you got me confused, when rome became a christian nation, what or who is a true christian at those times? if the romans who converted to christianity are not christians, then who were the christians at their time?
@emancoy That's where it gets good. Christian comes from mthe word 'little christus's" which means little christs, which is given to people that followed christ. Rome hated those people for the first 300 years, and attempted mass genocides on them, when the number of people deciding to actually leave religion and become a follower of christ continued to grow and grow, they realized genocide did not work. So they made vatican - to put paganism in it. Thats why we have christmas, easter etc etc.
(Trying to sing to the tune of "Love and Marriage" but having trouble with too many syllables):
"Faith and special pleading, faith and special pleading, go together like infidels and bleeding, this I tell you brother, you can't have one without the other..."
OK, it doesn't work but you get my point. Special pleading is inherently a part of faith. Throw out special pleading and you can't have faith.
I'd rather believe in the Maker. Or the High Dragon Andraste. Or The Forerunners. Or Tzeentch. Or Nurgle. Or Khorne. Hell, that'd be a ton of fun, following Khorne. A shitton, in fact. Or Slaanesh, also a lot more fun than the God of the bible. Far more rewarding. Or I could just stick with the classics like the Greek Pantheon. It worked pretty well for the twelve colonies, at least until the monotheists came along and started bombing trains and making cylon terrorists.
The fallacy in your question is that you're implying that religious people debate rationally. People don't accept a new religion not because they're perfectly rational about their own belief and are skeptical of the opposing view, but because they're so convinced their version is true that there is no way they can change their mind.
In essence, theist vs theist debates are the equivalent of a social phenomena, namely "rival groups".
I teach math, physics and chemistry. Most people if they don't understand any text after the first reading either think they are not (and won't be) able to understand it or ask someone what it means. Both options are convenient (lazy). I think this is a general behaviour of most people and it applies to other text, too, even scripture. People trust other people's information so they don't need to work to get the same results. Unfortunately they ignore that sometimes they'd get different results.
You are right that most christians don't read the bible. I was a christian, too, even after my studies of physics & I didn't read the bible either. I just accepted what someone said as the truth and thought that if we can't understand something in it (like a contradiction) then god must have had a reason to make it complicated to understand. That means, no amount of reasoning could prove to me that there's something wrong in my beliefs. I think, this may be the reason why believers are ignorant.
You say you believe in one less god than anyone else (depending on the religion). Why is it that you can say that all gods are false, with just as much certainty as a Christian can say that his god is real?
I can understand choosing not to *follow* any one religion based on lack of evidence for any current one, however that is agnosticism.
(I understand this is not the particular topic of debate, but I am curious.
this is not attacking anyone, I'm seriously just curious).
I find that it really very tasteless to drink what appears to be an alcoholic beverage and then speak about religion. It's just drives away more moderate theists. And everyone knows that things like Thor and Odin aren't real and the Christian God is real. It says so in the Bible. Case closed.
@JoeDixon He challenged people to use arguments that people who believe in a different god couldn't also use. The argument that Christ is the only one and true god is something someone else who believes in a different god could also argue, inserting their own deity in place of Christ. Case not closed.
@JoeDixon KingHeathen wasn't directly asking why Thor and Odin aren't real. He asked people to use an argument someone else couldn't also use. Saying your divine text says your god is the one and only true god, is not something that nobody else can also use.
To say to a Christian: "I don't believe in your God", is tantamount to saying: "I don't believe in YOU." This is because each Christian conceives of God as identical to their image of themselves. Their opinions are the same, their desires are the same, it's personality is identical their own, etc.. People tend to personify everything - to anthropomorphize trees, rivers, mountains and animals - the very Gods themselves. Everything is like us. We are toolmakers, therefore Designer.
@AGNOSSI Where does that come from? I am a Christian and I don't at all see God as an image of myself. The whole purpose of needing God is because I am so far from the opposite of Him and can't have a relationship with Him without my sins being accounted for. I would in no way say that my desires or opinions are the same as his.
@AGNOSSI "each Christian conceives of God as identical to their image of themselves" valid point-but not completly true. Many Christina atest to the struggle between thier own diesires and God's will. IF God was in all aspects indentical to one's self, then this struggle wouldn' t exist.
Line up every "true believer" side by side, and then ask each one to describe their conception of God. I have no doubt that each person will have a different concept. And this is necessarily so, because it is an existential fact that all persons are endowed with a mind that is independent of all others. We have ALL heard the old adage "No two people are exactly alike." This is the most essential fact of our freedom as individuals - that none of us think or believe in exactly the same way.
Maybe the true believers are afraid to ask themselves, "Could I be wrong?" Would a believer really want to know if God did not exist ? Maybe the believer avoids Science because they realize, on some level, that the God of their understanding does not resemble what Science finds in it's investigations of Nature. That humankind is not the center of the Universe, that humans are descended from a common ancestor...of the the God confounding mechanisms of pure chance that rule quantum mechanics...
The book of Job talks about how the pyramids are connected to the Plaiedies, and Orion, which was just a recent discovery. I suggest everyone interested do a search for "Bible Infinity Code" and watch the first part where it explains that the Bible forms a pyramid... it's very interesting. There is no coincidence that there are only a few Holy Books which have made it into almost every home/building in the world. It may be more true than you imagine, just not in the way most people think.
If you examine the Bible closely and make note of its explainations of its own symbolism, then there is quite a clear picture of mankind. There is lots of spiritual stuff in there as well, but what I take notice of is the use of natural phenomenon as parables for human/civil phenomenon. Like the sea being the masses of people, the heavens being the castles and palaces, light being knowledge, water being epiphany, a serpent being a stone hearted person, a mountain being a civilization....etc
Further, as far as I can tell, the religious folk that I have encountered really do believe in what they preach. Given a chance to establish a theocracy (such as the one in Iran or, say, Medieval Catholic Europe) those who disbelieved would be "removed" at the point of a gun.
@AGNOSSI ... actually it's very possible to prove Biblically, that Zeus is the devil... believe it or not. There is a huge monument to Zeus at Pergamos in Greece ... in Revelation to St. John, the Bible says that the seat of the devil is Pergamos.
If you believe in your own ready made deity and believing any other god is impossible and that is your only hope, then faith will be your only answer.
I would say that I don't have objective proof as to why my God exists, but there are logical reasons as to why my God is better than others or certain God's cannot exist.
Hindu/Buddhist/Roman/ect all have God's that are apart of or subjected to the universe - but, if a God does exist, it must supersede every atribute of this universe.
Islam thinks it has the same God as Christianity, but their God is inconsistent - it is forgiving without atonement, in which case, he wouldn't be just like...
the best defense I seen a christian come up with is that "If something was created there must be a creator" but I dismissed that quickly because that would mean that God must also have a creator. This is why there being a God makes no sense to me in the first place (even if god "transcends time and space" that wouldn't be a reason for him to be here).
An excellent point. It's difficult to imagine an argument that Christianity can present that cannot also be used in defense of another religion; particularly those you mention.
Arguments for Christianity of this form open the floodgates, and that, while not devastating for a line of argument per se, is nevertheless a rather bad sign.
I thought Atheists won the religious war already? Thats why I stopped fighting. And why doesnt anyone use the example of "Tu Er Shen" - God of Homosexuals?
Anyway, here's my proof that that my god is real and all others a not. The gospels of the flying spaghetti monster say that the global warming is caused by the lack of pirates and we have hard scientific data that backs that up. No other god predicted something so counter intuitive unknown at that time. :)
@KingHeathen Why do you care? This is the question I want answered. I don't believe in God and I certainly don't care what others believe. I think you are a bored person that has nothing better to do than harass Christians. Why is it that we never see you attack Islam? I don't care, why do you?
You're describing one of the primary reasons that I believe started me on seriously questioning my former faith. It's very difficult to remain consistent as a theist, because most of the arguments you use can be used in defense of other faiths too, and your only objection will be "well, my holy book says your faith is wrong". Not exactly compelling stuff.
back in ancient times they did not so much fight each other over whose god was real and whose was false. more often when the people of a city who believed in zeus came into contact with people from another city who believed in apollo, they came to agree that both were real. Then when zeus believers met jupiter belivers, they decided these were 2 names for the same one god. then jewish monotheists ruined the system by pushing the concept that other gods were false.
I had this same argument with a theist a while back. His only retort was that "nobody believes in ODEN anymore" as proof. "alright" I stated, "what about Allah"?....long pause..... "A false god presented to look real by Satan to steer people away!"........Sigh.
i had someone (christian) try to tell me that the majority of the world was against me.. (as an atheist) and i then reminded them that the majority of the world was against them as well..
But... but... but... Jesus is real and you just have to have faith! No, this won't work for Islam, Jesus is the one true god because it's logically necessary that the one true religion involves a deity whose mother is translated into English as Mary!
the stupidest shit I got as an answer was that "there's only one god, known by many names." Bullshit, Clearly allah is not the same as christian god. Just read the "scripture" both have quite the different ideas about many things.
@FisandCram "Bullshit, Clearly allah is not the same as christian god"
According to both Christian and Muslim theology, they are both worshiping the God of Abraham. They disagree on the roles of Muhammed and Jesus, but seem in pretty much agreement about God. They have different ideas about religion, but both see God as very similar, i.e. omnipotent, omniscient, Creator of the Universe, etc. So Allah is pretty much the same as the Christian God, just the followers are different.
Being described by different people in different cultures centuries apart. If a Jew from the 1st century & an Arab from the 9th both describe an Abrams T-1 tank. There would be major similarities, but they would emphasize different things because of what they thought important in their culture. It is still the same tank, even if there are differences in description. The same God may not give the same commands to different folks centuries apart.
@74BobLilly Except God, should know whats what. He should, if he does have orders and commands make them clear to all. If gods words are just philosophy and guesswork then all these "old books" should be burned and we can start again, with a modern understanding. I think it is not the same god, even if its just random people expressing their views.
Commands to Israel in the OT were made to his chosen people to prepare the way for his son. Commands to Christians or others may be different. Not all of his orders apply to everyone, they explicitly say that in the Bible. Just because Mohammed either lied or had faulty understanding doesn't mean he isn't directing what he said at the God of Abraham. If you read 2 car magazines about the Mazda Miata, you don't think it is a different car just because one says 18mpg and the other says 16mpg.
@KingHeathen --How ever infallible God may be, the accounts we are talking about are those of humans. Some of them, like Mohammed, may not do such a good job in describing him. But since he says he is following the God of Abraham, and so do Christians, then it looks to me it is the same God, even if one account or the other pushes details about God that are incorrect.
@74BobLilly - Earth to 74BobLilly, Earth to 74BobLilly, its written by men. Therefore anything I write about god is exactly as valid. If I use logic to show what was written before is nonsense and immoral, then its more valid. Two different men who say they are talking about the same god but then describe different gods, are not really talking about the same god. Sorry but jews, christians, and muslims don't worship the same god, they worship the ramblings of different men. Not the same god.
@adolthitler "Two different men who say they are talking about the same god but then describe different gods, are not really talking about the same god."
Sure they do. Minor differences in description don't make it a different god. They all believe the same big details: omniscient, omnipotent creator etc. It is just like with a Mazda Miata. Two different car magazine accounts emphasizing different characteristics of the car and even some minor contradictions don't make it two different cars.
"Sorry but jews, christians, and muslims don't worship the same god, they worship the ramblings of different men. Not the same god."
The ramblings may be different, but the various "ramblers" are attempting to describe what they understand of the same God, the God of Abraham. The same one.
@adolthitler Yes...Yes..."No two people are exactly alike" That is, I cannot see the World through your eyes, i.e., I cannot think and feel exactly the same way you do. And our freedom as individuals is based on that fact. No two people, even of the same church or sect, will have congruent beliefs. The "true believers" are all trying to convince each other of an Idea that is as impossible to accomplish as - me seeing the World through your eyes. Even if we were identical twins.
@74BobLilly They are all trying to describe "car" and are describing a monster truck, a mini van, and a passenger sedan. Three different cars. It does not matter they say they are describing the same "car". They obviously are not. Whoah did you see that car? Yes. Yes. Yes. It was red. Not its green. Idiots its yellow. Did you guys see the same car? Yes. Yes. Yes.
@starspawn77 Why yes...of course it is. Holy books are all made up of myth, legend and propaganda. ALL of them. Holy books and religions arise from our infancy as a species (Hitchens). All holy books and all religions are fabrications.
@AGNOSSI Oops! I seem to have mistaken the context of your comment - i commented hastily before i was fully aware of the exchange between you and the user 74BobLilly, and furthermore, i did not realize the side of the discussion you were on. My apologies. That's what i get for butting in :-P
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I don't believe in Zeus or Odin or Thor because I've read the BIBLE!!! The Bible is the most historically accurate book ever written and has been verified over and over again. Egyptians kept records of the jews leaving egypt and there is archeological evidence of every event said to occur in the Bible after the flood. And also there is evidence of a world wide flood. Where do you think the GRAND CANYON came from? Atheists are dumb!
@AUDIENCE0fONE The Bible is one of the best books I've read, better than Harry Potter but not as good as The Da Vinci Code. Athiests should be ashamed of themselves for debasing one of the greatest fictions ever written.
@AziMeX I hope you're just a troll and you don't actually mean that. Quit being so sarcastic and narrow minded! And start excepting Jesus! One day every knee shall bend! You know you're not an atheist and that Jesus is real!
@AUDIENCE0fONE I'm not a troll. I wasn't being sarcastic. Jesus's followers plagiarised hindu scripture. You are right, soon Krishna will return and knees shall bend. Yes Krishna is real.
@AUDIENCE0fONE I'm not a troll. I wasn't being sarcastic. Jesus's followers plagiarised hindu scripture. You are right, soon Krishna will return and knees shall bend. Yes Krishna is real.
@KingHeathen Wow, you've read the Necronomicon? Impressive ;-) Seriously, though - nice vid. And i fully agree with your reply to AUDIENCE0fONE... If i say i have faith in a resurrected, flying-saucer-piloting Elvis, i may not be locked up, but my "faith" will ensure that no one takes me seriously anymore. Why? There's no more proof of UFO Elvis then there is of Yaweh - and yet, to follow the teachings of the bible solely on faith is considered okay (if not noble)... ummm... what?!
@starspawn77 ... I saw a UFO and it contacted me telepathically. No joke. I have been checked for mental health since then (lol obviously) and no problems were found. It really did something to me though. I don't think UFO's are aliens, and the fact that you suggest that a dead soul pilots a UFO leads me to believe you've done some research :)
@KingHeathen ... these books explain their own symbolism. Moses parting the sea doesn't mean he parted a body of water, it means he divided the masses of people and used them to cover his escape. Jesus walking on water, meant that He walked above the masses where other people needed a "boat" of material things to float upon it. The Bible always explains itself, it even explains that churches are designed to be false teachers, set up by the devil. Read the Bible puposefully and examine it.
@KingHeathen ... people misinterpret things. A flood doesn't neccessarily mean there was a literal flood. The Bible uses the sea as symbolism for masses of people on a regular basis. Maybe there was a world riot ... what's going on in the middle east right now could be the same exact thing the Bible describes. There are symbols found all over ancient stonework that show up in every period of history, implying that the art of stoneworking and civil engineering was passed down directly.
@monkeygoodcipherbad1 dude, come on! you're making us all look bad. The flood wasn't about a world riot. It was about God's judgment upon the people of the earth for their wickedness. How can the unsettled Middle East resemble anything like a "global flood." Even if you don't believe in a global flood, this argument really needs to be thought out better.
@KingHeathen indonesian god with a myth about the stone and a banana, wherein their god made humans choose which one they want, and they choose the banana. But when they did, their deity told them that if they would have chosen the rock, they would be immortals, but since they choose the banana, they would die and their children would rise to take their place like a banana tree.
funny thing is that this myth really do have physical evidence, we share 50% of our genes with the banana.
@KingHeathen Wanna see wear Moses parted the red sea? Get your butt in that sea and you will find a line where Moses parted it! The burning bush cave is still there! and explain this? If the world was one inch away from the sun it will be too cold explain for everything is so perfect? We were not form from some dust in the sky!
God created the dust and the sky, we were NEVER APES! do you see any apes enveloping no! This isn't Pokemon shit, Who is stupid now?
@ericandjonathan Wow, you are even more naive than I previously thought.
And here we go again with the bullshit "one inch" argument. I have already explained to you how incorrect that is...please try to keep up.
Also, please get this part straight, we weren't ONCE apes, WE STILL ARE APES! You are an animal. You are a vertebrate. You are a mammal. You are a primate. You are an ape. You are a human. Run the same line on all other apes, just change the last one to chimp/gorilla/etc.
@KingHeathen I do read science books all the time followed by a bible. its called SCHOOL! and I have a science teacher who believes in the big bang but thinks god made it see smart girl!
@ericandjonathan Lmfao smart girl? Compared to who? Sarah Palin?!
If the god of the gaps actually exist, it doesn't matter. We know prayer has no effect. We know it can effect our lives. We know it dose not acknowledge our worship. And it dose not care about you. Why do you care about it? Anything before the big bang cannot be explained.
(Retard): Can't be explained?! IT WAS JEBUS!! I KNOW IT!! *signs random political documents*
@bushiyo2 you dont pray to get what you want. yes this life has tribulations, but at least we arent burning in the lake of fire and brimstone right now. prayer is for the sake of showing gratitude
so, in other words, humans don't have free will under him. i guess 9/11, and hurricanes katrina and irene were his doing. i guess mohammed creating islam and bin laden later using that to kill thousands of people were his will as well
divine plan is the same thing as fatalism. it is meant to break down human will, leaving them as nothing more than a puppeteerable husk.
@infernalone666 actually he gave us free will and that free will involves making choices. you make the choice to follow him or you dont. the things you mentioned above are part of choices that humans made. but yeah, hurricane katrina and irene may have been his doing. divine plan? his original plan was for us to live happily ever after under his laws but satan messed that up by rebeling against him
i call contradiction. if he is going to do what he wants regardless of what we do, then that means everything a man does is futile
and i was wondering if you would pull the satan card on that. satan is a scapegoat created for this purpose. he was made so all responsibility for everything negative in this world to him and so god couldn't be called out.
so how did he fuck it up? read genesis. he made adam and eve intelligent and free thinking. that's.....bad?!
@infernalone666 well, God set those new covenant laws in place. all you have to do is confess that you believe that Christ died for your sins, be baptized, then live out your life in a way that pleases God. this is a guarantee and you may not like that hell is the alternative, but that's the way it is
and strangely enough, h did that withOUT lying. he told them they wouldn't die, they would become like gods. god said they would die. they ate it, didn't die, and god said they were now like gods
satan did NOT lie. and he is responsible for making the humans intelligent and self-aware. what does this tell you. if god wanted them to live happy, why didn't he make us this way? why would the all-knowing one even make a test? don't confuse happiness with ignorance
@infernalone666 the "die" is called spiritual death. it's when one takes disobeying God too far. that's apparently the law of free will. it dont come without the choice of sin. if you were to create something, would you want your beings to have a relationship with you but didnt get to choose if they want to or not?
the 'well, more people believe in it' clause is less valid than even I thought for a while
not even for the concept that just because more think it doesn't make it right or nothing ever came about just by wanting it
just look back to about 2500 years ago when there were NO christians - when it didn't even exist (I like it already). Just wake up and see that a god is only as eternal as the people who believe in him.

~Babu G.
Mogley52 6 months ago
@Mogley52

Mogley52 6 months ago

How does creationism account for the clear order of morphology found in the fossil record? ie. why is it the lower through the strata we dig, the less morphologically complex life becomes? How is it we're able to predict the exact location & strata depth for transitional forms prior their discovery? Lucky guesswork?

APES ARE QUITE COMFORTABLE IN HOW THEY WALK, just as humans are quite comfortable in how they walk. Even inheriting a slight change in the position of a muscle or bone, for either, would be excruciatingly painful and would not be an advantage for survival.

ReptilianFreemason 6 months ago
BLIND WATCHMAKER NO ARGUMENT. Natural selection is no "blind watchmaker" because it can only "select" from variations that have survival value. It doesn't produce variations. It only operates once there is life and reproduction, not before, so it couldn't be involved in life's origins. A partially-evolved cell (an oxymoron) would quickly disintegrate. It couldn't wait ("survive") millions of years for chance to complete it and then make it living! Read: HOW FORENSIC SCIENCE REFUTES ATHEISM
Mogley52 6 months ago
@Mogley52

Mogley52 6 months ago
@Mogley52
Why do whales, dolphins & snakes have the genes to produce legs? etc.

PhDyMy 1 year ago
You are right that most christians don't read the bible. I was a christian, too, even after my studies of physics & I didn't read the bible either. I just accepted what someone said as the truth and thought that if we can't understand something in it (like a contradiction) then god must have had a reason to make it complicated to understand. That means, no amount of reasoning could prove to me that there's something wrong in my beliefs. I think, this may be the reason why believers are ignorant.

I can understand choosing not to *follow* any one religion based on lack of evidence for any current one, however that is agnosticism.

I love God?
AGNOSSI 1 year ago
@AGNOSSI Where does that come from? I am a Christian and I don't at all see God as an image of myself. The whole purpose of needing God is because I am so far from the opposite of Him and can't have a relationship with Him without my sins being accounted for. I would in no way say that my desires or opinions are the same as his.

AGNOSSI 1 year ago
Maybe the true believers are afraid to ask themselves, "Could I be wrong?" Would a believer really want to know if God did not exist ? Maybe the believer avoids Science because they realize, on some level, that the God of their understanding does not resemble what Science finds in it's investigations of Nature. That humankind is not the center of the Universe, that humans are descended from a common ancestor...of the the God confounding mechanisms of pure chance that rule quantum mechanics...

I suggest everyone interested do a search for "Bible Infinity Code" and watch the first part where it explains that the Bible forms a pyramid... it's very interesting. There is no coincidence that there are only a few Holy Books which have made it into almost every home/building in the world. It may be more true than you imagine, just not in the way most people think.
monkeygoodcipherbad1 1 year ago
If you examine the Bible closely and make note of its explainations of its own symbolism, then there is quite a clear picture of mankind. There is lots of spiritual stuff in there as well, but what I take notice of is the use of natural phenomenon as parables for human/civil phenomenon. Like the sea being the masses of people, the heavens being the castles and palaces, light being knowledge, water being epiphany, a serpent being a stone hearted person, a mountain being a civilization....etc

Impossible to prove a negative.
Further, as far as I can tell, the religious folk that I have encountered really do believe in what they preach. Given a chance to establish a theocracy (such as the one in Iran or, say, Medieval Catholic Europe) those who disbelieved would be "removed" at the point of a gun.

back in ancient times they did not so much fight each other over whose god was real and whose was false. more often when the people of a city who believed in zeus came into contact with people from another city who believed in apollo, they came to agree that both were real.

I think it is not the same god, even if its just random people expressing their views.
adolthitler 1 year ago
Commands to Israel in the OT were made to his chosen people to prepare the way for his son. Commands to Christians or others may be different. Not all of his orders apply to everyone, they explicitly say that in the Bible. Just because Mohammed either lied or had faulty understanding doesn't mean he isn't directing what he said at the God of Abraham. If you read 2 car magazines about the Mazda Miata, you don't think it is a different car just because one says 18mpg and the other says 16mpg.
74BobLilly 1 year ago
@74BobLilly I also don't think that the car magazines were the infallible work of an omnipotent and omniscient creator!
KingHeathen 1 year ago

74BobLilly 1 year ago
@adolthitler Yes...Yes..."No two people are exactly alike" That is, I cannot see the World through your eyes, i.e., I cannot think and feel exactly the same way you do. And our freedom as individuals is based on that fact. No two people, even of the same church or sect, will have congruent beliefs. The "true believers" are all trying to convince each other of an Idea that is as impossible to accomplish as - me seeing the World through your eyes. Even if we were identical twins.

Then that proves my point. That Muhammed was believing he was worshiping the God of Abraham, the same God that Christians and Jews worship.

@AGNOSSI And the bible itself is not an amalgam of fairy tales regurgitated from older religions/cultural myths?
starspawn77 1 year ago
@starspawn77 Why yes...of course it is. Holy books are all made up of myth, legend and propaganda. ALL of them. Holy books and religions arise from our infancy as a species (Hitchens). All holy books and all religions are fabrications.

@AGNOSSI Oops! I seem to have mistaken the context of your comment - i commented hastily before i was fully aware of the exchange between you and the user 74BobLilly, and furthermore, i did not realize the side of the discussion you were on. My apologies. That's what i get for butting in :-P

@AGNOSSI ... not neccessarily myth and legend. More like parable and symbolism.

AUDIENCE0fONE 1 year ago
@AUDIENCE0fONE The Bible is one of the best books I've read, better than Harry Potter but not as good as The Da Vinci Code. Athiests should be ashamed of themselves for debasing one of the greatest fictions ever written.

@AziMeX I hope you're just a troll and you don't actually mean that. Quit being so sarcastic and narrow minded! And start excepting Jesus! One day every knee shall bend! You know you're not an atheist and that Jesus is real!
AUDIENCE0fONE 1 year ago
@AUDIENCE0fONE I'm not a troll. I wasn't being sarcastic. Jesus's followers plagiarised hindu scripture. You are right, soon Krishna will return and knees shall bend. Yes Krishna is real.

@AUDIENCE0fONE I don't believe in Jesus or Allah or Krishna because I've read the NECRONOMICON! (See how silly that sounds?)
Were was it "verified" that Moses existed? Who verified that he parted a sea? Who "verified" that Jesus walked on water?
Cite a source for archeological evidence that there was EVER a mass exodus out of Egypt of slaves.
If the Grand Canyon is evidence of a world wide flood, why aren't there 1000s of grand canyons all around the world?
Tell me again who's dumb?
KingHeathen 1 year ago 20
@KingHeathen Wow, you've read the Necronomicon? Impressive ;-) Seriously, though - nice vid. And i fully agree with your reply to AUDIENCE0fONE... If i say i have faith in a resurrected, flying-saucer-piloting Elvis, i may not be locked up, but my "faith" will ensure that no one takes me seriously anymore. Why? There's no more proof of UFO Elvis then there is of Yaweh - and yet, to follow the teachings of the bible solely on faith is considered okay (if not noble)... ummm... what?!
starspawn77 1 year ago
@starspawn77 ... I saw a UFO and it contacted me telepathically. No joke. I have been checked for mental health since then (lol obviously) and no problems were found. It really did something to me though. I don't think UFO's are aliens, and the fact that you suggest that a dead soul pilots a UFO leads me to believe you've done some research :)
monkeygoodcipherbad1 1 year ago
@KingHeathen ... these books explain their own symbolism. Moses parting the sea doesn't mean he parted a body of water, it means he divided the masses of people and used them to cover his escape. Jesus walking on water, meant that He walked above the masses where other people needed a "boat" of material things to float upon it. The Bible always explains itself, it even explains that churches are designed to be false teachers, set up by the devil. Read the Bible puposefully and examine it.
monkeygoodcipherbad1 1 year ago
@KingHeathen ... people misinterpret things. A flood doesn't neccessarily mean there was a literal flood. The Bible uses the sea as symbolism for masses of people on a regular basis. Maybe there was a world riot ... what's going on in the middle east right now could be the same exact thing the Bible describes. There are symbols found all over ancient stonework that show up in every period of history, implying that the art of stoneworking and civil engineering was passed down directly.
monkeygoodcipherbad1 1 year ago

LOL!
emancoy 1 year ago
@KingHeathen but so does every other animals on earth also shares the same thing, which refutes it immediately.
Just a heads up, maybe there will be some religious nut that would find such garbage and actually use it, like a caged monkey throwing feces.
emancoy 1 year ago
@KingHeathen Wanna see wear Moses parted the red sea? Get your butt in that sea and you will find a line where Moses parted it! The burning bush cave is still there! and explain this? If the world was one inch away from the sun it will be too cold explain for everything is so perfect? We were not form from some dust in the sky!
God created the dust and the sky, we were NEVER APES! do you see any apes enveloping no! This isn't Pokemon shit, Who is stupid now?
ericandjonathan 11 months ago
@ericandjonathan Wow, you are even more naive than I previously thought.
And here we go again with the bullshit "one inch" argument. I have already explained to you how incorrect that is...please try to keep up.
Also, please get this part straight, we weren't ONCE apes, WE STILL ARE APES! You are an animal. You are a vertebrate. You are a mammal. You are a primate. You are an ape. You are a human. Run the same line on all other apes, just change the last one to chimp/gorilla/etc.
KingHeathen 11 months ago
@KingHeathen Guess what family the ape is in? THE MONKEY FAMILY!!!!
ericandjonathan 11 months ago
@KingHeathen And I said we were NEVER APES! Because if you were smart and read the bible he made animals and THEN HUMANS!
ericandjonathan 11 months ago
@ericandjonathan and if you were smart and read a SCIENCE BOOK, you'd understand that you don't have a clue what you are talking about. We ARE apes.
(BTW, the Bible also says that bats are birds and that whales are fish...neither are correct)
KingHeathen 11 months ago
@KingHeathen I do read science books all the time followed by a bible. its called SCHOOL! and I have a science teacher who believes in the big bang but thinks god made it see smart girl!
ericandjonathan 11 months ago
@ericandjonathan Lmfao smart girl? Compared to who? Sarah Palin?!
If the god of the gaps actually exist, it doesn't matter. We know prayer has no effect. We know it can effect our lives. We know it dose not acknowledge our worship. And it dose not care about you. Why do you care about it? Anything before the big bang cannot be explained.
(Retard): Can't be explained?! IT WAS JEBUS!! I KNOW IT!! *signs random political documents*
You have been deceived my friend.. Good luck.
bushiyo2 9 months ago
@bushiyo2 you dont pray to get what you want. yes this life has tribulations, but at least we arent burning in the lake of fire and brimstone right now. prayer is for the sake of showing gratitude

@KingHeathen big deal if the men who wrote it thought that. that wasnt the central message

no, it's a bullshit blanket excuse these people pull when god's so-called 'divine plan' doesn't go *their* way
infernalone666 4 months ago
@infernalone666 wrong, we understand that God's the authority figure and can do whatever he wants
countrymusicaddict24 4 months ago
@countrymusicaddict24
so, in other words, humans don't have free will under him. i guess 9/11, and hurricanes katrina and irene were his doing. i guess mohammed creating islam and bin laden later using that to kill thousands of people were his will as well
divine plan is the same thing as fatalism. it is meant to break down human will, leaving them as nothing more than a puppeteerable husk.
infernalone666 4 months ago
@infernalone666 actually he gave us free will and that free will involves making choices. you make the choice to follow him or you dont. the things you mentioned above are part of choices that humans made. but yeah, hurricane katrina and irene may have been his doing. divine plan? his original plan was for us to live happily ever after under his laws but satan messed that up by rebeling against him
countrymusicaddict24 4 months ago
@countrymusicaddict24
i call contradiction. if he is going to do what he wants regardless of what we do, then that means everything a man does is futile
and i was wondering if you would pull the satan card on that. satan is a scapegoat created for this purpose. he was made so all responsibility for everything negative in this world to him and so god couldn't be called out.
so how did he fuck it up? read genesis. he made adam and eve intelligent and free thinking. that's.....bad?!
infernalone666 4 months ago
@infernalone666 hate to break it to you, but rebellion against God works like that sometimes
countrymusicaddict24 4 months ago
@infernalone666 well, God set those new covenant laws in place. all you have to do is confess that you believe that Christ died for your sins, be baptized, then live out your life in a way that pleases God. this is a guarantee and you may not like that hell is the alternative, but that's the way it is
countrymusicaddict24 4 months ago
@countrymusicaddict24
and strangely enough, h did that withOUT lying. he told them they wouldn't die, they would become like gods. god said they would die. they ate it, didn't die, and god said they were now like gods
satan did NOT lie. and he is responsible for making the humans intelligent and self-aware. what does this tell you. if god wanted them to live happy, why didn't he make us this way? why would the all-knowing one even make a test? don't confuse happiness with ignorance
infernalone666 4 months ago
@infernalone666 the "die" is called spiritual death. it's when one takes disobeying God too far. that's apparently the law of free will. it dont come without the choice of sin. if you were to create something, would you want your beings to have a relationship with you but didnt get to choose if they want to or not?
