I don't know why but phones these days are becoming far beyond what they intended to be. It is cool but when you think about it all a phone is supposed to do is call someone right? The I-Touch isn't a phone but it is something that I wish google would shoot for. A device that mainly runs applications like a desktop computer would be awesome....sort of like a mini labtop.

that scrolling looks clunky, if you look at it the swipe seems to activate scrolling with intertia rather than the scrolling actually being attached to your finger like on the iphone

also the iphone has the same fast scroll only it lists the letters down the side.

This can vary depending on different hardware conditions, I guess. G1 is only the first phone with Android, but there will be many more, and their CPU and touchpad sensitivity may have better performance than this one.

the one thing about the android phone that makes it stand out is the features and capabilities it has which compared to iphone has been limited down. youll need to wait for an sdk or someone to come up with a software to do extra features beyond the standard features. but in android you have already these things open up for you to utilize. but in design and product though iphone is well designed but has limited features comapred to an android OS

When apps that take advantage of this diverse install base (MMO games, social networking apps etc.) start showing up the IPhone folk will be stuck with their one phone and one carrier. Yah Apple has really started to mobilize their user base to spread FUD far and wide. Who came first? --> both around the same time. I actually think the alphabet scroller on the iPhone is a more intuitive way of quickly scrolling a list. But the entire platform feels that way - it's stuff that Apple did a year ago, only less intuitive.

the beauty of android is that if you don't like it you can change it (providing your a code monkey). so for example your alphabet scroller could be made for android aswell(unless apple has patents for every kind of alphabet scroll technology ^^)
