The Penn State Riot today has demonstrated without a doubt that colleges cannot teach anything worthwhile. Here these students are supposed to learn "critical" thinking and yet they riot on behalf of an 80+ year old football coach $millionaire who did not do enough to report child molestation at Penn State. Yet around the world working people are protesting austerity measures and greedy bankers. Yes, get arrested over an 80 + year old wealthy football coach who was just fired? Smart students.
I'm almost 20 years old and I am debating whether or not I should go to college. I'm almost two years behind my high school class.
Thanks for these videos, and presenting the other side of the coin. All of my life, I have been hearing "Go to College." I've never been sure that it was the right move though.
@DontGoToCollege What's your take on trade schools? Nice videos by the way. I graduated from college with $40,000+ in the hole. If I had known then what I know now. But, at least there are videos like yours that are informing people about the scam. I think college has its merit, but anything I learned in college was hardly worth the hefty price tag. I think I should have went to a tech school. What are your thoughts on that? Just curious.
@fatcatbuzz I think trade schools are a good idea for the most part. It's important to check with people in the industry to make sure that the trade school is credible. Some trade schools exist only for the purpose of getting government funding and being eligible for student loans and many students have been burned by these schools.
@DontGoToCollege Yeah, I tend to agree with you. If I had a chance to do it again, that's the route I would have taken. I am currently an English teacher in Asia because of my degree and will most likely do this for a couple of years. It's a comfortable life and I'm sure many of my fellow English teacher friends love their life out here. But, I would rather work in a job where I'm learning something new. I think it all depends on what you're looking for. But, college is overpriced for sure.
@TymesRhymes Avoid college if you are a minority. But I will recommend you get a certificate or an interdisciplinary associates degree so you can choose your courses without some liar pot-bellied pig faced adviser breathing down your neck and advising you with bad advice.
I'll also mention the owner of the business completed one semester of community college. He spent those years busting his ass to start and grow the business. Did he take risks to do this? hell yes, but there is also tons of risk associated with taking out huge amounts of student loans.
If I knew then what I know now I think I would have gotten an entry level office type of job at 18 and would have moved up and maybe had the company pay for me to attend college.

@TeslaTechnologyRocks The corruption and evil at Penn State goes way beyond some 80 year old scapegoat.

@TymesRhymes Also, if you must go to college take most of your courses online. Parking, and classroom politics is an utter complete nightmare.

I just love how you make it clear that work experience is completely different than what you learn in a classroom.
