  • Type in Hy-Bird in lostpedia :)

  • that is one badass bird.

  • @Zpetsnazi Or due to the nature of this island; When this bird is...

  • lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Hurley_Bird

  • @monsieuraout "There is currently no text in this page. You can search for this page title in other pages, or search the related logs. "

  • @Zpetsnazi a hybrid bird,,, they called him the HybIRd, a dharma initiative experiment, along with the polar bear

though they used the bear for real purposes, i suppose the bird was just "an experiment" no purpose for him :D

  • i dont hear his name either...

  • I DONT HEAR HIS NAME!?!?!?!

  • @karimzk I kinda hear a resemblance between the bird shriek and Hurley. I can see where people might think he said his name. I'm pretty sure they just meant it to be a shrieking bird though.

  • @powerrangersr No Bro, I like to watch the lost seasons with substitles... It specifically says [Bird Screeching "Hurley"]

  • I've never seen this scene. What season and episode was this from?

  • @atlanteantapir Live Together, Die Alone, season 1

  • best series ever

    love it for this moments^^

  • verrrryy spooky

when you see it the first time :O

  • i wish a bird would say my name.....

  • My question is why is michael trying to unload on this fucking bird? what would be the point? In addition to being pointless it could have also alerted the others that they were coming which, sure, michael wanted but i dont think he was thinking about that at that point.

  • @wmclennan1 u see a hurley-screaming bird,,,, u just shoot man :P

  • According to the epilogue, it was a Dharma test animal.

  • stop making crazy theories about the damn bird its just there go sawyer could deliver that killer line lol

  • i'm gonna be honest, everyone seems to have been stressing out over this bird, and i never even took noticed of it untill now :L

  • it didnt sound like Hurley at all actually. It just squaked a double syllable squawk and it was just added to make us wonder what the Island is...weird.

  • He didnt say "Hurley". The writer's just planted that possibillity in our head to give us an extra mystery. thats why it was never addressed again.

Just some bird. Lets stop calling it the "Hurley Bird".

  • @mgreenly824 That's why it was never addressed again? Except it was addressed again lol The Dharma created it and it's shreik does resemble "Hurley". Put subtitles on the DVD at home and even the subtitles say "Hurley".

  • fuckin stupid

  • I think the bird is Hurley's pet from when he was working with Dharma back in 1977...or was it 1973? I can't remember. Hurley taught the bird to say his name, and then years later through time travel the bird saw Hurley and remembered him.

Gentically engineered birdie to the rescue :3

  • @violet147 If what you're saying is true, what episode would that have been, because when Hurley and the others went back in time to the 70's, I don't particularly remember Hurley being put in charge of takng care of the Hy-birds.

  • @violet147 Wow! Serious? Im impressed man!!

  • @violet147

Just out of curiosity, where did you get this theory from :) ?

Is there like a website with extra info on it :) ? x

  • i think the funniest part in this clip is Michaels bitch ass tryna shoot the dam bird and failing miserably. LMFAO!!

  • genetic hybrid birds.

So Hydra spliced the birds up. Now thats a good answer

  • I know what is this bird...look New.Man.In.Charge and it min 4 you can see the truth.

  • that is one big genetically engineered bird

  • 'Hurley Bird' was a genetically engineered bird created by the scientists at dharma initiative, - Source, LOST epilogue ''the new man in charge''

  • THEY NEVER ANSWERED THE GOD DAMN HURLEY BIRD

  • Comment removed

  • @marcusinHD now they did, watch the Lost Epilogue, you can find it floating arouns the internet

  • @jbokse

COVERING A BIRD CAGE WITH A SHEET IS NOT A TRUE ANSWER

  • @marcusinHD haha cmon, it was a hybrid bird, thats why it sounded like that, good enough answer. some people will never be satisfied, lol

  • @marcusinHD oh god shut up

  • Right before it Crapped Gold

  • i bet that was the man in black

  • @EDDIEinWAR i bet everything was the man in black

i bet my parents are the man in black

i bet obama are the man in black

  • @undiente I BET YOUR MOM WAS THE MAN IN BLACK!

lol wut? xD nah im just kidding, its to late though cuz lost is over and they never explained it.

haha i see what u did there with barack obama xD

i bet men in black was the man in black!

  • I wonder what Hurley Bird taste better as, Fried or Rotisserie? Maybe Raw !!

  • could this be the man in black but in form of the bird? like when eko was judged, the man in black took the form of yemi, the spiders for nikki and paolo etc. maybe for locke he uses a bird but try to warns hurley away because he is cursed or something

  • the producers will answer this question in the DVD box, as they said.

  • I don't understand! They need to answer some more questions .

  • The Hurley Bird catches the worm. (sorry couldn't resist) That bird is damn creepy. Something like that fly down at me and call my name I'd piss my pants...

  • Lost: Create a bunch of random crazy shit that hooks people and never answer it. Fucking bastards.

  • BS. Sadly, Lost turned out to be a big Shaggy Dog story.

  • THE BIRD WILL BE EXPLAINED ON SEASON 6 DVD "EPILOGUE"!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • It's funny every time. :)

  • Hinting at him later becoming new Jacob?

  • @ChocolateRain68 I think you might be right about that, I wasn't sure if they ever explained it. But i think thats most likely the explanation. That he become that new Jacob and warns himself.

  • @xMyEmpireonlyx you don't have to speculate anymore it will be explained!!!

  • @ChocolateRain68 I bet Darltons even didn't make up with idea of Jacob in season two. Miserable bitches =\

  • @JimboGrinbo Yes they did... In season two there is a part where they mention. I watched the seasons about 6 times. And They mention it.. Also they mention it in season two when one of the "others" says "Why do we even need Jack? He isnt even on Jacobs list" which i dont get because he was? lol

  • Comment removed

  • the bird does not say hurley

    it says SCREEEEEEEEEEEECH

  • I'm glad Micheal's gun didn't work or there would be many lawsuits...

  • Who ever heard of a black guy not being able to shoot a gun??

  • @MrGrevy, dude Jack took Michael's bullets so he wouldn't be able to shoot. Notice he was trying.

  • @natejames325 Well another thing that what was unrealistic was that he wasn't holding the gun sideways like black people do, as he tried to senselessly kill something innocent.

  • @MrGrevy Well good eyes there :D

  • that is one unsolved mystery, cuz its too bad i really wanna know if its dahma engineered and taught to say its name by the time traveling hurley

  • @DickKnowsBest I guess you should be busting a cap now! haha

  • You know, I didn't really hear it. If I hadn't come in "expecting" to hear it, then I'd have never guessed that's what the bird "said".

  • Because he's Jacob

  • Yeah it did. Right before it crapped gold.

  • @DickKnowsBest

Sorta. The numbers are canidate (next person in charge of the island) numbers that Jacob created. I think hurley has just bad luck in the past.

  • oh shit. i always miss this part. i heard it this time.

  • not gonna lie, that birds creepy as hell

  • It was the smoke monster..... everything from season 1-3 that has not been explained yet will result as being the smoke monsters doing.

  • @XvxBERSERKxvX Nope, not smokie. In the season 1 finale, you hear the smoke making it's tell-tale noises, but then it runs off. What follows is the loudest screech the Hurley Bird gives the entire series, in SEASON 1. Locke decides to follow the noises, & he sees something off-screen (the Bird). He later asks Ecko what he saw when the Smoke approached him. Ecko doesn't answer & Locke tells him he saw it too, and that, "I looked into the eye of the island, and what I saw was beauiful."

  • @saintdro This prompts Ecko to respond that this "Is not what (he) saw." If you watch the scene, it really seems like the Smoke and the Bird were fighting, and that maybe one chased off the other.

To me, the Bird is either Jacob, as he, like the Phoenix, was able to rise from the fire of his own ashes. Or it can be tied to Walt, who was seen as having a special, manipulative relationship with Birds on 2 seperate occasions (a flashback, and a LOST short scene).

  • @saintdro man.. that theory is soooooo far fetched and wrong.lol

  • if this dont get explained i'm going to be pissed

  • @zombiejock Prepare to be pissed XD

  • I don't hear it.

  • classic LOST WTF? moment

  • Am I the only one who doesn't hear it <.< It sounds like an ordinary birdscream to me...

  • @dinaarumor

Sounds like a bird screech to me too, probs hurley being paranoid if i remember rightly he was seeing shit around this time too (ie dave).

Strange that they showed the bird :S think it was just a ''classic wtf moment'' :P but that had no relevance although LOSTpedia says that the Aborigines had a myth that looks identical to this bird.

The ''hurley taught the bird in 1977'' is a cool theory but i dont think it has evidence

  • i have a question that i would really like answered i think it hasnt been revealed yet but if it has and i have just missed it could you tell me plz. the question is that "has hurley encoutered the numbers in the alternate timeline" if so did he use them to win the lottery? and why haven't they brought him misfortune? any help on this would be appreciated.

  • • The bird in the first season finale who said Hurly will be back. Says Lindelof, That is on our list of things to explain.

  • I think the Hurley bird is Horace goodspeed. There was an Egyptian god called Horus (coincidence?) which took the form of a green falcon (this also fits with the Egyptian themes of the show). If you look at the top of Jacobs tapestry, there is a clear symbol of what appears to be a birds wingspan, with the eye of Horus at it's center. It could be possible that Horace was a follower of Jacob, after being touched, he would be able to become a bird after death, only if he would work for Jacob.

  • Comment removed

  • lol, right before it crapped gold xD

  • It has to be Walt...

Remember the polar bear? Walt was reading Hurley's comic and it had a polar bear in it. Little later a real bear shows up.

The Green Lantern. I think he can make green animals.

    Walt read the comic.... Hmmm...

I will not be satisfied with the show until I know what the deal with HURLEY BIRD & WALT is. WHY WAS WALT SPECIAL? WHY DID THE OTHERS KNEW HE WAS SPECIAL? DID JACOB TOLD THEM THAT?

  • how come I saw every single episode of lost .. but I don't remember seeing this scene ?????? !!!!!!

  • I remember it.

  • @Sal3mzafreak maybe u focused on michael cause thats the moment he found out that jack knows about him

  • i never saw this shit

  • hmm i reckon that hurley was the only one to hear it

  • The music in this scene is so chilling.

  • that looked like a fyinf dinesore not a bird :|

  • since re-watching the DVD's with subtitles, where it actually states, "Bird screeches, Hurley", my interests are peaked. Plus wikipedia says that this is one question that season 6 will shed some light on. Anyway, I think I MAYBE found another bird screech. In the Season 4 finale, Part 2 of 'There's No Place Like Home', right at like the 10:28 mark, one of the Others trips a member of Keamey's team, and he shoots his gun into the trees. A tell-tale Hurley-bird screech seems to follow

  • I, like others, am leaning towards the Bird being a form that Jacob takes, and seeing as how we know (errrr THINK) he appears or at least speaks in the season finale for season's 1, 2, the guess I just threw out in Season 4, and Jacob "dies" in season 5, I'm betting he shows up in the Season 3 finale somewhere discreet too.

    Thoughts?

  • with all the shape shifting going on, I'll wager it was either Jacob or "Unlocke".

  • wow I can here it say hurley

  • what did this bird said ?

  • that's wierd

  • i have lost sleep over that dam bird

  • the producers said they will answer the hurley bird in episode 12 hurley centric

  • can someone tell me what the big deal is about this bird?

  • I'm sure i can see a halo above the birds head at 0:09

  • It's a stream of light man :)

  • might be MIB taking form of a bird

  • Hurleeeeeeee!

  • i think the bird is the goddess of the dead ISIS because a lot of ancient egypt is envolved in this show

  • creepy!

  • i just heard "hugooo"

  • I think in the subtitles it says Hurley both times

  • huulleee

    That's what I heard

  • I havent figured out who jacob is or was yet. I know he lived in the cave in the cliff with the scale and he wrote names on the wall, but why?

  • the people with names on the walls are 'candidates' to become the new Jacob. i don't think he actually lived in the cave though.

  • Actually, we don't know that. Others (Richard, Illana, etc.) claim that Jacob lived in the statue -- apparently ever since the 1800s, considering he was chilling outside the statue waiting for the Black Rock way back when.

We only have MIB's word that the cave was Jacob's. However...he certainly seemed to know his way around it pretty well. Who know if what he was saying was the truth or not. Maybe it was originally HIS old place & both he and Jacob keep track of the candidates....

  • I don't care if the bird said hurley or not, I just want to know how such a huge bird is on the island.

  • I could hear the "Hurley". If you listen, he says, "Hurleeey" but it sounds more like, "hurlaaayy.....hurlaaaay"

  • This is Jacob calling Hurley, Jacob is "horus" and the fake locke is "Anubis"

  • You are right. Look at the sign Anubis is holding on wikipedia. WHy does everything have to be either about the holocaust or Egypt

  • but the engraving in the monster laywer shows the monster attacking anubis. if you wiki the startue of tawret you'll see the same engraving that the show uses to represent the monster, there it sais its name(cant remember it) and that it was supposed to be the gaurdian of the gods.

  • That bird didn't say Hurley name.

  • i can't hear Hurley either, i wouldn't have noticed unless Hurley said ''dude did that just say my name?''

people saying it is jacob: Jacob was said to be in the pilot season 1 episode with a non-spoken role, vincent, locke & a screeching bird/moneky noise at 0:23 seconds are the only ''non spoken'' roles of that episode (a screech hardly counts as speaking)

    just in case you're interested

Vincent is the ionly confirmed character to survive season 6 :) i hate seeing dogs die etc in shows

  • Sorry but, Isn't it just a bird. I mean Hurley's crazy right.

  • im not startin anything but it sorta looked green to me like it was mada plants but meh thats just me

  • @mapo11

well normally he would be crazy, but in a show like lost, well, it has to have some signifigance or else it wouldnt have been put in the show

  • the bird is Mr clucks him and hurley live together in the past the bird first came from the black rock but hurley uses it as his own (and the numbers were invented by hurley in the even further past)

  • You should of put subtitles

  • 5 seasons, and nothing about that bird.

  • how can anyone know if it is a bird. it's obscured. and what about the hieroglyphics on the door in the hatch?! they say: "here be dragons". how can you be so sure about this "bird".

    raaaahh...can't wait for season 6 :)))

  • @Emanuel222222 It is possibly the australian dream gold atjira or whatever it was called XP (i'm stupid XD)?

  • hahaha :))))

  • Hurley becomes a bird and tries to warn himself of his fate...

  • Damn. I can see that happening. Nice prediction.

  • wow thats a nice guess. i didnt even notice it had said hurley until i rewatched Live Together, Die Alone last night with subtitles on haha.

  • @SecksyDano

xDD Now this could even be true :P

  • It does say Hurley ! :D never noticed it before.

  • Sounded like a screeching bird. I did not hear HURLEYS name.

  • no its meant to sound like Hurley, if u put the subs on it says Hurley

  • So what about that fucking bird!!

  • haha i bet thats the monster in its green bird form

  • It wants him cuz he's the tastiest looking.

  • HUUUURRLEYYY

  • IT'S HORUS ! OMG

  • Horus? lolz, this might even be true o.O

  • EPIC spelling fail.

  • What did he spell wrong?

  • Horace.

  • I thought he meant the ancient egyptian bird god Horus

  • When Hurley went back in to 1977 and joined Dharma, Hurley could have possibly encountered this bird as a baby and may have fed it and taught it to say his name. Now years later, after the crash of flight 815, the bird sees Hurley and remembers him And this is why it screeches his name.

  • i like this theory man thumbs up

  • yes me too. i would love it the losties in the 1970s were responsible for some of the things that happened to them in 2004.

  • @denzel786 that is a sad excuse for a theory friend!

  • @denzel786 witch episode do not remember i know it is in season 5

  • @denzel786 what episode did thet happen

  • @denzel786 which episode did that happen i know it is one of season 5

  • did anyone else notice the pig that locke slaughters seems to shout either 'charlie' or 'hurley'? very early on in season 1.

  • lmao at the end xD

  • too bad that when you turn subtitles on in the DVD it does. good try though. :)

  • Haha yeah, too right.

  • it's horus. a green falcon

  • i remember it but i dont understand how it said his name... i didnt hear haha

  • Did anybody else notice the appearance of the Hurley Bird in "follow the leader"(5x15). right before sawyer says "good riddance" and gets on the sub you can hear it - - check it out

  • Not necessarily the Hurley bird, but could be. I did hear it.
