  • Well, it looks unanimous that your original idea was correct.

"Vultures in the hood". LOL. :)

  • Yes, they are American black Vultures. It was hard to see if they have a grey head. but another sign for me was the soft hisses and barks they make. - Phil

  • Thanks, Phil. You are my "bird guru", so I bet you are right. :)

  • That's freaky, Magenta. I shared this to a bird friend, let's see if he knows. :)

  • They don't look like Vultures, completely. They do look at least as much like Turkeys, (wild turkeys) as they do vultures.

Having said that, the main reason they don;t look like vultures to me is because I am used to seeing them featherless about the head and in this case, remove the feathers and taking the movements into account, they do look like vultures.

However Turkeys would not gather in a flock like this, in my experience, we have wild turkeys up North, and I have shot and eaten them.

  • Research even on YT suggests they are indeed Black Vultures, a feathered head species. For the record Vultures get a bad rep, they are braver and more powerful especially than people believe. They eat carrion. That is an important role in nature.

  • black vultures rule. i love there barking

  • No doubt there black vultures always in small packs.
