  • course it ws showboating, watch any real match sprint and they would never waste their energy doing this, it's far more tactical than 'i want him to go in front'

  • anyone know what song starts playing at :10 ?????

  • Wow Great ,,,,, SKILL >>>> huh

  • Who won?

I felt asleep before the end...

  • Is this seriously a sport?

  • @KorpseTE..youre an idiot

  • @KorpseTE your a fucking dumass lets see you do that you stupid basketball player

  • what a load of pish

  • fuck maaaaaaan!!!!! my heart could explode anytime, the tension is unbearable... imagine if u are on the racer's position..... these guys are modern gladiator..

  • vangelis

  • Try listening to this with the vuvuzelas on!

  • I was excepting a 6 day track stand from the title!

  • Sorry I mention is that it I can do it for 10 minutes

  • @dragoliaz sorry but they didnt do it for as long as they could coz one went 4 it an anyway im 13 an i can di it for half an hour! so dont get cocky m8 ur just shit

  • Is than it check out my video I can do it for 10 minutes

  • I understand the point of the track stand, but why would the guy in orange start riding if he knew being in first would put him at a disadvantage. Fatigue? He just messed up?

  • probably just messed up. but also if it goes too long the comissionaire might restart the race.

so maybe he was just getting sick of waiting.

  • Haha true that.

  • @GeoffB123 its the rules if ur at the bottom when u start u hav to go to the front unless the other rider wants to an the orange guy triple oympic medalist chris hoy an that red!

  • these guys should do a pursuit competition

  • as a kitty said ' how long johnson" :DD

  • I never get tired of watching this video. Please never ever delete.

  • Excellent tactics. DJ did a great job keeping the place jumping!

  • It's called a velodrome - basically a stadium made for track cycling. And the point of trackstanding during a match sprint is to basically read the other rider and make sure that they won't take the advantage. It's sort of hard to explain with a character limit, but look up "match sprint cycling" on google or something.

  • this video never gets old

  • no the thery behind it is this the race is called match sprint u are trying to throw ur opponent in front of u cause u dont want the wind normally the person infront loses i would no i race velodrome

  • Why do they do it?? Whats the theory behind the tactic??

  • You're a complete fuckhead.

  • They are doing it bc the person tht goes second can draft of the other person which usually leads to a win in sprinting

  • I see, mad that like. I ride trials and they got better balance than me!

  • Lol... "Yonk!"

  • quality- favourited!

  • nice style nice run cool video

  • the guy in the green shirt

  • who wins? the guy in the orange shirt who starts first or the other one chasing?

  • to triumphdollysprint The classic trackstand can be mastered by many fixed gear enthusiasts if youre determined to do it! Mixing it up with elite class sprinters at around 40 mph is an entirely different pipe dream only attainable to those with the genetics, and the years of intense weightwork, bike training, and hard knocks of crashes and dissapointment that go along with it.One of the few americans who COULD do it was Marty Nothstein of PA

  • respect mate - all so true. that pace is just ridiculous to attain over that distance.

  • Beasts, Amazing, I've never seen track tactics taken this far.

  • i just want to saay to the people calling it show boating it isnt !!

it takes extreme skill aand this is all becuase nether rider wants to laed out the sprint

holding a trackstand on the velodrome for so long on them gears really hurts your legs ! ...

they are just trying to both take the back spot also intimadate the other rider ...

so this is not showboating .. point proven ??

    x laura x

  • being an ex international myself... a track stand for 10 minutes at there level of fitness is nothing .. they are heavyly endorsed and are gaining great exposure for their sponsers good luck to them too.... the tight tracks of the six day never favor a rider coming from the back around the other rider its just too far, so its very doubtful to be serous tactics, as even hoy proved being unable to get round his opponent in this round

  • no way....no way; hahahahaha

  • schön gemacht wolf^^

  • i know everyone will think im one of those pricks whose like 'i could do that shit in my sleep', but its really not that special, anyone who rides a fixie knows that, and its especially easy on a fixie.

  • Prick or not, you don't seem to understand. This is not a circus trick, it's a race. You would never win against either of those two, so just shut the fuck up about what you can do in your sleep.

  • i think you'll find that it's not that difficult to understand and i do understand.

im not saying i could beat either of these two, im way too unfit, and i do understand that this is just show boating before the sprint, but what i am saying is that track stands like these arn't difficult, especially when they are riding fixies, and even more so when the have an incline or slope to push against.

  • No, this is not "show boating before the sprint", this is part of the race. An important part of the race when both riders want the other one to go first. Search for the "1990 Match Sprint World Championships" clip and you will probably understand.

  • so triumph i guess you know all about trackstanding on a 30 to 45 degree slope with a 52 x 14. "its really not that special" - ha

  • Que espetáculo!!

  • RAVE/track cycling ........ i like it!

  • ur a moron, mtb wear the same clothes. just not the good 1s.. kinda like u obviously

  • "Track racing was better when this kind of American style showbiz razmatazz horseshit wasnt around"...you obviously know nothing about bike racing..the "showbiz" six days are a European tradition stretching way back with pretty much zero american influence, they are always showy.....the long track stand has always been a feature of match sprinting

  • have you ever been in or to a mountain bike race? they were the exact same shit.

  • yea, alexokp is right, unless you are a hardcore downhill, and no offense but i think downhill is just lazy

  • zestCC you are a toss.

    dhilling is anything but lazy.

have you actually paid attention to a dh race?

  • downhill guys got balls, and it is pretty tough, but i still believe biking uphill proves tougher

  • What the hell you all about I ridewith some of britians finest downhill and crosscountry mountain bikers and they wear this stuff too your just too stuck up your own arse to know go find out what pro mountain biking means dipshit

  • but why do this?

  • the trackstand isnt the impressive part....its all the lights and music and how pumped the fans are for it!

  • I just learned to do this yesterday while messing around on my fixie waiting for a bus.

I like the part when they take off.

  • dumbasses the point is to get behind the opponent so your in the slipstream and have more energy for the finish so u can draft him!

  • whay?

  • ok, a track stand for 6 minutes is going to be boring...

but the six-days-stile is defently the way we have to reform all the uci races to get the crowds on the track.

only short tracks <200m, sprint, keirin, madison, motorpacing, maybe elemination race, and some kind of country/team battle like a combination between team sprint and pursuit - DROP the rest! and finally: PARTY UP THE TRACKS!! hot music, lightshow, infield audience,...

    what do u think?

  • Sounds like the Revolution thing they're doing in the Manchester Velodrome. Seems to be working and hauling the crowds in.

  • for a clarification on why you track stand and do not want to be in front do a youtube search for "1990 Match Sprint World Championships".

  • i go to the velodrome in londan and i can do a track stance there harder to do on the velodrome than on flat .i can do them for like 2 min on the track and im 11 i can do it no hands with a mountain bike. its SOOO MUCH FUN, these people are quite amazin i know 5 or so people at the forsest city velodrome that can do that.

  • To anyone giving out about this video. -You are all idiots.

The track stand at the beginning is a big part of the race. whoever starts first is USUALLY is at a disadvantage -unless you think the other guy has stopped paying attention and you can steel a second or two by breaking first.

  • NO WAY!

  • pfffff please

  • can you PLEASE post the entire clip of this race? from where they actually begin from the line, to where they do the obligatory first lap to this part then the end? PLEASE!!! i'd love to see everything of this race

  • which one is chris?

  • ive never tried to hold a stand that long. i can do a no-handed stand for almost a minute though! hehe

  • oh ya there fun i can do it for like 5 mins but one hand and 2 hands is easy i can do it for like ever

  • Track racing was better when this kind of American style showbiz razmatazz horseshit wasnt around.

  • Oh wow, a track stand. I can't bear the excitement.

  • that was pretty damn cool, good music too but I wish I knew what the music that played from about :04 to 1:40 before the star wars bit was.

  • "I wish I knew what the music that played from about :04 to 1:40 "

It's by Vangelis, from the soundtrack to the movie "1492: the conquest of paradise" or something very similar

  • they play it with stereos in the velodrome so the riders arent bored as wel as the viewers

  • fuck man thats shit good, ive only done a 4 minute trackstand with brakes thats just fucking amazing

  • no brakes track bikes have fixed gears so you can pedal backwards they dont have brakes. and people sy thats gotta be hard to stop, its not.

  • love the starwars background music

  • HAN SOLO!11

  • One of them should let out a huge fart to psyche the other one out.

  • We do have cool shit like this in the U.S. Just gotta do research. Dee Dee Dee

  • damn, I miss racing on the track

  • Why dont we have cool shit like this here in the USA.
