I'd cook it however you want guys. I'm going to make mine vegetarian with veggie stock and cook it longer. A way to relieve gas from beans and cabbage is to soak them in water with a slice or two of fresh ginger an hour before you use them. Rinse off and use as usual.

I just made this last night and it's wonderful. I changed a few things. I added along with the butter beans, 1 can of black beans, 2 extra cups of chicken stock and extra cabbage. The diced tomatoes were seasoned with basil also. I had my parents over and everyone thought it was delicious! Thanks!

Can this be frozen and reheated later? There's only two of us in the household and I find it REALLY difficult cooking for just two ppl. I tend to make enough for about 4 or more... its tragic.

Sounds good but those taters aren't cooked, almost raw cabbage is not a good thing. Longer cooking would help. Mushrooms added would be nice too.
