  • if you spend thousands of hours just learning you should probably just bite the bullet and spend 6 months in an arabic speaking country, it will save you time and money.

  • keep your filthy russian money off my table

  • thank you ,,,, your video my inspired to study harder !!!!

  • learning different languages is for faggots , just punch some one and point.

  • @GarIicjr I bet you are American, all my money on the table for that. That or under the age of 15.

  • I've been using Rosetta Stone for Russian for a little while now. From what I've seen of it, it's like the classes you would take in high school. It's really good for what it is. Granted that I pirate almost everything, I don't have some of the problems you spoke of. But yeah, it seems that its purpose is just to get started. You have to learn the basics before you just throw yourself into it. When you have the basics then you just have to expand your vocabulary basically.

  • insightful. thank you

  • so you got any good language software suggestions for french. I was never going to get rossetta stone because it was way too expensive.

  • @Bennyclay661 if you want to learn the best manner in which to learn Spanish , Visual Link Spanish is the program, it will teach you a lot of vocabulary and how to speak in sentences, though to really see why its the best just try go to watch?v=0VOItGqpnaA to watch my review video and then click the link below to download the program for free. you'll be glad you did and I that truthfully, so could i ask to type in watch?v=0VOItGqpnaA into your youtube search bar

  • STOP! Before you pirate rosetta stone you need to realise that it is free and will have absolutely no consequences.

  • @Nippyton lol

  • so, you're saying that Rosetta Stone is a good starting point? Not for fluency, but for beginning? I'm not looking for Arabic, I'm looking to learn Russian.

  • @Darkshadows90 i think you should try pimsleur approach it will help your fluency and its really simple

  • @Serenity0220 so expensive tho, for no reason. it doesnt really teach all that much. you come out knowing a bunch of phrases, not actually speaking the language

  • @NickPowersMusic actually its $9.95

  • @Serenity0220 Actually it's hundreds of dollars

  • im 16, i got rosetta stone for free and i have no life away from my laptop some im fine ;L

  • I agree!! excellent point. adapting to the culture embraces the ability to improve a language.

  • Fuck u

  • Fantastic advice, and great review. Best of luck mastering Arabic!

  • 118 gefällts nicht?! Netter versuch Rosetta stone... :'D

  • As a rule, I wouldn't trust anyone on Youtube with 718 videos of ranting.

  • So he admits he hasn't spent a lot of time actually using Rosetta Stone. Maybe he just doesn't have a learning capacity for new languages or anything for that matter.

  • @FredHentell

i Just finished the install...man you are amazing:)

its almost impossible to find a good version online...you made my day!

  • @FredHentell dont work:(

  • @FredHentell

    Thanks a lot bro!Works perfectly..you saved me some $

  • You look like Remi Gaillard...

  • @nEiffelTower I would have said Peter MacNicol

  • If it sounds too good to be true, it is. The best way to learn if you're a guy is to find a french girlfriend if you want to learn french. No matter how good a course is it doesn't teach you slang so you need to find a person that you can immerse yourself with. You got to work, eat, sleep in the language to really learn it. Some learn faster than others too. So you might be the main factor holding you back. Ya gotta git wit it ta lern sumpin.

  • ty so much was guna buy it, definatly changed my mind

  • cerebro

  • I mean how not who

  • You said you tried the Pimsleur Approach and who did it work for you? was it good or bad? easy to use or hard to understand?

  • Few few updates. You can load Rosetta Stone onto two computers. Rosetta Stone has a web site that I can access my account from any Iphone/computer/ladtop from anywhere in the world and my lessons are there and updated. When I receive my Rosetta Stone package, I also received CDs to make MP3 files or just lesson and practice while driving in my car.

  • I am in high school and wanted to learn German. I am now on level 4 of German and know it works because I have friends in Germany who I talk to all the time--I also write them letters. If you aren't willing to commit to Rosetta Stone, it won't work. But if you take the time to do it on the computer and then listen to the tapes, it's amazing.

  • Well, its a great program (compared to other softwares, computer based) You can not get an interpreter in the language, bbviously, logical, but it is an incredibly useful addition to learning their language fluently within their time from basic grounds. I think its overpriced and some people have easier to built up a languange than others.

  • please , tell me your opinion about pimsleaur program? I really need to know

  • 114 got ripped off

  • This video was uploaded before version 3?

  • Visit my channel for more Rosetta Stone videos :)

  • I can understand arabic pretty well when I hear it but I cant write or read. What programs do you use/recommend for learning arabic other then rossetta stone?

  • Nice!

  • Why do you want to learn Arabic?

  • I've been doing Rosetta Stone for three weeks and I can already read and write in the language I was doing, not to mention I can converse with my friend from Germany.

  • @MrAppleipod14 is it really a good program?

  • @RickeyF1989 No, dumb arse. Clearly his point was that it sucks! Or maybe you thought he was using sarcasm??

  • @BangaloreJones I was not asking you Dumb Ass

  • @RickeyF1989 Another dumb comment by you... Your 4th grade retort does not address your previous stupidity. The matter of who was talking to whom is not relevant in regards to the fact that your question was trite. It would be like me asking you if you really thought that I am dumb ass.

  • @BangaloreJones What the fuck is your point here. I was asking a fucking question, you must not have anything else better to do than to sit there and keep talking shit go fuck your self.

  • @BangaloreJones I wonder how long it took you to use such words to sound smart. A thesaurus perhaps? I can tell because the last sentence was careless "thought that I am dumb ass." You forgot to put an "a", if you are implying you are as smart as the words you spoke were then you surely could not forget a simple grammar error such as that. 39533 is just sharing an opinion and possibly a solution to some people that could save money for them. I personally don't pirate. Just leave him alone.

  • @TheIncepticide Touché!! (who is 39533? I don't think I made a comment regarding them).

  • Thanks for the info!

  • i bet u live in dearborn

  • I have the Pimsleur Method, but haven't started it yet. Anyone know if it works?

  • i just bought all five levels... and I love it! it really helps, you my friend must suck at languages

  • يا صديقي انا اريد ان اتعلم اللغة الروسية لغة البلاشفة والرفاق الماركسيين... ألا ترشدني بالطريقة الافضل لكي اتمكن من إتقان اللغة الروسية...

  • So... as I find your video when deciding which language software to purchase (i.e. which is the best for the money) you say the only way to learn a language properly is to experience further than what any software is able to offer. Well, that's not really very helpful at all.

  • i'd love to hear you speak some Arabic to be honest lol any vids?

  • This is the best explanation I've heard about why using tools such as Rosetta Stone simply can't get you past but the very basics of a language: in short, there is simply not enough material (your comment about needing something like 300 CS's is right on; in order to actually learn vocabulary that will become part of your ACTIVE vocabulary, you need to see how each word you learn in all sorts of context, not just learning the word in one sentence and then on to the next item of vocabulary).

  • Just wondering if this review was before or after version 4 with integrated iPhone learning etc and one to one interaction? I take the comments on board but with all learning it's walk before run. I hope people are not put off by your comments, after all it isn't a cheap pursuit, rather than take a step towards a milestone achievement - walking.

Safe to also point out that some languages are clearly a lot easier to pick up than others, I could still hold my own in a basic conversation in Fren

  • It's vastly overpriced for the pictures of people eating bread.

  • I'm currently taking Japanese in my high school and am not doing very well. i decided to buy RS in order to help with my japanese. what i dont get from RS i can probably get from my teacher who has spoken japanese for 20 plus years right?

  • Best in my experience is Pimsleur. I've done French (all levels), Italian (all levels), Greek and Hungarian. I've learned a lot, and it's *usable*. It's almost totally audio, focused on talking, not writing.

  • question, how would rosetta stone teach you to read and write the language? and I love the internet I would never pay for it always download expensive programs :[)

  • @LordAlcoholmage Well, I've only recently started using R.S.(japanese) and from what I see so far, you can have the text displayed in kanji, hiragana, etc.

  • @brotherbear92 Thank you for the reply! I have been interested in learning Arabic because I want to become a translator for the military. I have been looking into programs to learn it recently, and I know how difficult it is going to be for me so I am looking for as much info I can get before I dive into it. Thank you! any other adivce you have would be much appreciated.

  • @LordAlcoholmage No problem. As many people have said, the best way to learn is to use study methods like Rosetta Stone alongside immersing yourself in the culture. I think combining both Pimsleur, which teaches important conversational phrases, with R.S., which goes much more in depth.

  • This guy doesn't have a clue what he's talking about. Maybe you didn't retain what you learned from the Rosetta Stone program because you're just dumb and/or lack the ability to retain information as well as other people. Climb back into your log cabin in the hills Clevon...

  • @deeveeuss I know right? xD some people are just retarded... Rosetta stone helps me so much!

  • @clevonamerica I want to learn Arabic as well what programs should i use! What did you do!?

  • Can u email me some better ways to learn Italian. I want to speek fluent Italian like I do English.

    Devonnegrimes12@gmail.com. thank u

  • I'm kinda of glad i watched this. I plan on learning French this year. I want to be fluent in it. I want to speak French just as well as I speak English. (which I guess isn't saying much xD) I totally get the thing where you need to emerge your self around people that speak that language to really learn it better. I was wondering though. What did you do to learn to speak another language? Fluently that is?

  • Can't handle criticism? You can dish it out but can't take it? Gosh, you must've been the geeky kid in the back of the classroom who always got picked on. Way to delete people who post and disprove your point of view.

  • @clevonamerica

Please email me because I want to learn Russian and I would love to know the best Program for this language. I already Speak German, basic Cantonese/chinese, Intermediate French and English, but I would love to add to my colletion of languages in my mind.

  • yea it does give a great idea of how the languge works. I am learning Hebrew with it for when I go to Isreal. I am picking up on words but yea I see what you are saying.

  • Although I see your point that it won't get you fluent most people wanting to learn a language will understand that u have to use it with other material, I can though say I are wrong, you can have Rosetta stone on 2 computers with 5 people on each a total of ten people can use it. There is also 2 disks of mp3 that you can add to ur iPod as well as the smartphone app. There is also the studio that has games and lessons with a live tutor and u select the level h are at so it makes sense at the ti

  • not true. audio cds and ipod apps

  • Hi,

I'am actualy learning spanish. I based my learning on rosetta stone, from which I make my about 30 words list a day.

The point is rosetta stone says that there is "Latin America Spanish" and "Spain Spanish", and I don't know the differences between those two. After what I saw in your video, I'm even asking myself if making two spanish programs is marketing bullshit. Anyway :p

Thanks for the video, I think i'll stop Rosetta Stone, cause I don't want to assimilate bullshit.

    Happy new year

  • nice but you can easily crack and download the software for free without wasting a penny. Its seriously overpriced.

  • @39533 you could but if you value the studio sessions with live tudors you will want to shell out the cash.

  • @39533 mind giving me the link please?

  • @39533 How? :o

  • lol i just imaging you yelling at the monitor like if was its fault lol how funny

  • rosetta stone is also mainly used for people who know nothing about the language (when you reference the kids)... i got the spanish one (and I speak spanish and french almost fluently) and it was a waste of money and time

  • ok you have to be stupid to really to buy ONLY rosetta stone and nothing else...i have dictionaries and grammar books combined with rosetta stone you'll learn the language in no time!!i learned italian and french with rosetta stone.

  • great input. guess i'm passing on a language program!

  • Rosetta Stone works better than all other programs I know that for a fact. Pimsleur is hard to understand because they just cut soundbytes from the whole sentence and due to that some words are unintelligible. Rosetta Stone is true immersion because there is NO ENGLISH, unlike Pimsleur which guides you in english with translations and REPETITION (which they specifically say in their ads they don't do).

  • Thank you for posting this. It's very helpful & I hope the public will send a message to Rosetta saying we wont overpay for such a limited product.

  • Pimsleur was a brilliant man and he knows when and what to reintroduce in order for the learner to get maximum retention. He studied it for years & it works. You can really pick up a lot by working those CDs. I'm a big fan.

  • DO FLUENZ. it is so much better and you really learn check it out

  • some of you people who buy rosetta stone are idiots and brainwashed by their commercial ads .... best way to learn a language is to read some proper language book i recommend "assimil ", listen mp3s i recommend "pimsleur" and watching movies in the language you are learning

it took me about 2 years to learn french , spanish and italian i now can think , speak or even sleep in those language just the way i said above, don't spend your earned money for this bullshit software rosetta stone

  • rosetta stone is EASILY pirated

  • So if you are warning us about buying Rosetta Stone, the thing so many people have had success with, what do you think we should use to learn the language short of flying over to where it is spoken? I think you are just a slow learner or you probably just that you choose the hardest language you could choose so you wouldnt learn it and you could put down things that work for sane people. Sorry, but that is the way I see it.

  • Rosetta Stone cuesta mucho. El programa es bueno pero lo es muy tedioso.

  • What do you recommend for learning a language? How? Because my parents were thinking of getting me Rosetta Stone (for French) this Christmas!

  • @bubblestrawberries ever heard of torrents? Don't waste your money kid.... Go to piratebay and download Rosetta stone french. I have it downloaded along with Spanish, German, Russian, Dutch, and even American English for my father...

  • i going to buy and thanks for giving me all the details

  • How many levels of languages did they have when you posted this review? Many popular languages on RS now have 5 levels instead of 3. The grammar lets a lot more complicated. Just a thought.

  • @AnnaMellter

Thanks Anna for the free rosettastone:P i love you!

this guy is a moron...rosettastone is cool...mostly if its free:P

  • @AnnaMellter

    simply awesome:D

  • @AnnaMellter

i Love you ANNA!!!!Your version is the first workin version online...i cant thank you enough for this.

  • @AnnaMellter

thanks for the full version bro..You saved me some serious $:)

    Really,i cant thank you enough

  • Your last little yoddle there was tops :o) too funny! :o))

  • The best, simplest and definitely cheapest way to learn a f. lang. is to use a good dictionary plus some grammar book for beginners to learn grammar and pronunciation. Then take your favourite book written in your native language, get yourself a copy of that book written in the language you learn, and then learn the language by comparing those two books and fill in the gaps using the dictionary. It's hard at first but gets gradually easier. Listen to online radio in the foreign language. Done.

  • your very annoying

  • Right... that's why we have way too many people who don't speak english here :/ jumbo yack :(

  • too late, i already spend 600 bucks in that shit

  • this video is kind useless since you can download rosettastone for free..

(just check the top rated comment).

by the way it works, thanks melro

  • @DerVLoggerReloaded Hey there! I speak some Japanese, and have I tried Rosetta Stone for it in the past. It really is best to avoid it, at least as your main source. I learned more in two weeks of formal classes in Japanese than I did in the entire unit of Japanese Rosetta Stone 1. Get some textbooks and get an account at places like Lang-8 and Livemocha. Should help you out. :)

    Happy learning!

  • 1:05 Review for Rosseta Stone

  • Rosetta stone is good to start with, but after that look for other lessons, maybe some free online ones. Or you can watch or play video games spoken in the language you are trying to learn.

  • They updated to 3 downloads, but their audio CDs are still the worst.

  • Did you master the Arabic Language?

  • I agree that Rosetta Stone is not as up to date as they could be. Rosetta Stone is one of the few programst that offer a course in obscure languages, like Irish Gaelic. But, they do not even explain the intracacies in grammar rules at all. I had to buy an independent book and use both in order to understand what was happening. My biggest complaint with Rosetta Stone is that you can see these grammar rules in action, but they completely fail to explain WHY they happen.A book really helps.

  • @phxJohn2010 I've found that too, but if you want to really learn the language on your own, there are many online programs and websites to help you understand the why and how to of said grammar rules. After using V 3.4.7 I have learned a TON of swedish, and before using the program, I didn't even know a simple hej or hej da(a with a little circle above it.) I'm not saying it's the best program out there, but it can have its benefits if you know how to search for what and where. Grammar Rules!

  • Good review. Thanks for the info and heads up.

  • I agree with you. I can speak fluent Korean because my mom doesn't like speaking English, so I was forced to speak in Korean everyday. I also lived in Korea when I was a little girl, so I have Korean friends to talk to. I'm still more integrated in the Korean population in America than with other English speaking people.

  • Very helpful. I didnt get irritated like I did with other tutorials that were just blah blah blah- This guy was to the point and articulate

  • 说半天我压根一句也没听懂

  • why arabic? :)

  • @MrJoshuaf1000 in case they take him hostage i guess?

  • Since you have made this video Rosetta Stone has new features that would make your points false. You can now video chat with natives who can teach you words the software does not and they can also correct grammar, something RS doesn't do. I DO think the software has improved and is worth it, especially when learning a language like Chinese, Japanese or Korean. And you can listen on MP3 and there's an iPod/iPone app.

  • Comment removed

  • Thank you so much for posting this video. I've studied English for 7 years and half before coming to US and now living here for almost 7 years, I am still learning. Rosetta Stone NEVER would be able to teach me half of what I know today... This is a ridiculous software , I agree 100% with you and I don't recommend anybody to buy it!!!!!

  • I study Mandarin Chinese in both school and r s.

My opinion is that for the most part it's very good! But it has its drawbacks, 1, it can only be on ONE computer. 2, it doesn't always give you proper clarification on what to say/do and what not to say/do, it just isn't very precise.

HOWEVER 1, it does give you the advantage of learning the language FAST! 2, it makes learning effective. 3, you don't need to memorize everything! bc it all comes natrually

Overall, it's very good, but pricy!

  • @MelroTT

Iam installing the master collection what i downloaded from your site!!:P

Thanks a lot its seems to be cool!

  • @MelroTT

Thanks Melro works like a charm..i like free stuff :DDD

  • Comment removed

  • awww no polish :(

  • @MelroTT wheres Russian

  • @myrobloxrexter7297

OMg its on the bottom of the first page...just scroll down. How do you wanna learn a foreign language if you can not even read???

  • Thanks for this really nice review. Rosetta stone sounds like its not so good, as I suspected, an overpriced piece of blah blah blah that one has to dedicate themselves in front of a computer. Pimsleur is really good in some circumstances. You wanna learn another language? Become like a child I think. Audio input is far superior to print for learning esp. with regards to exotic languages and phonologies :)

  • I work in retail so it would be super helpful if I could learn Spanish. I'm gonna try Rosetta Stone. The great thing is that the town I live in, which is out in California, has many spanish-speakers so that may help with the immersion. I can get real-life practice.

  • Very fair review, I like that you werent a bitchy d-bag about it. Id like to get RS for German and Russian. Id love to be fluent in both but obviously a pc program wont do the trick. I just want something more effective than the language apps on my phone, to learn grammar and stuff. Ive considered taking a course.

  • @invisibleisolation How about fuck you

  • youve been tryna learn arabic ... thats a pretty hard language ... no wonder why u need lots of dedication btw ur kind of discouraging ...

  • Ugh so wtf is it 600 dollars for? I should be able to finish that program and live in puerto rico

  • I want to learn russian and german so bad. I ordered them both. I will use rosetta stone as my second life. It comes on tuesday...

  • I am currently taking Rosetta Stone Japanese as my third language (I know English and Spanish). I believe the best way to learn a language is if you are in the middle of the country where you are forced to learn it. Which is why I hope that I could get stationed in Japan next year (I'm in the military). By taking Rosetta Stone I already have basic knowledge of the language. And if I get stationed in Japan for 3 years then God knows how much I will learn even more that what I already know.

  • That outro scared the shit out of me

  • Hey man :) Good video! My friend from the country of Jordan is also teaching me some Arabic. But my main language I would like to speak is Hebrew. Now, I got Pimsleur and that is amazing! but it got expensive. do you know of any CHEAP GOOD programs? I am not a beginner in Hebrew. But yet, I am not that advanced. I can write to some extent in addition to the grammer rules and suffixes, etc... Also, I cna only speak a little. so I need hlep finding a program. Marrhaba! Shalom! God Bless!

  • @Fafasungrass *ahem* You should look up torrents and how to use them

  • @IceInferuno i have tried both and Pimsleur is the best by far

  • @Zadamanim I'm following Japanese with Rosetta stone, I think this is so great to learn vocabulary but it sucks to teach you read or write anything without your available background. So, as my recommendation, you must take a foundation class of Japanese at least 6 months to understand what does it teach you. We're not a child so we can't internalize the lessons without deep comprehension.

  • Guess you don't utilize a remote pc service.

Teamviewer or Remote Desktop Connection, etc will allow you to control the "home" computer with Rosetta Stone and use the software from any of your other computers.

This would allow you to freely and legally use the 1 copy of RS you were given on any of your computers.

(Beside the point, you can DL any software for free illegally but don't do that)

  • see clevonamerica, your ideas are correct (for rosetta stone v2), but since the releasement of rosetta stone v3 you do get the audio files etc. GOOD ARGUEMENT, but you were on 2 not 3. Have a nice day my good sir

  • 2:20 So you want to lear by osmosis?

2:35 It's not a Word file my friend

3:28 I agree with you there, going to another country and learning from native speakers, will never be replaced by a computer program. Not even a webpage like LiveMocha.

  • Headphones in whilst driving, sounds illegal to me.
