please help me..i have pterygium for almost 8 years until now.. ive been operated twice but it keeps coming back..im very awkward,it makes me uncomfortabale coz it makes my eye red..i have medicine here (eye drop) to make my eye look lesser red but after 3,4 or 5 hrs it will go back to red.im very shy to make eye to eye contact..please somebody advice me or help me...thanks a lot
yes, you are entirely correct, a very careful dissection of the graft is undertaken to harvest just conjunctiva and leave tenons behind.
And you do not have to close the conjunctival defect from the harvest site, atleast I haven't, and it appears to heal just fine by secondary intention everytime.
many general ophthalmologists and most cornea and refractive specialists perform this procedure. you could ask around for some with a good reputation of search around on the internet. i am sorry, but i dont know anyone specific in new york.

Just for clarification. The donor graft strictly consists of conjunctival tissue. The Tenon's is left behind?
Does one have to close the conj at the donor site if no Tiseel glue is available?

Pterygium Removal with Conjunctival Autograft is the best but you need so fast for local anest. next moth i wil send you
