The bass singer is Aaron McCune, he is not singing with anyone, Jonathan is singing with his son under the name "Wilburn and Wilburn", the tenor is Steve Ladd, he is doing solo work, and the baritone is Daniel Riley, son of Tim and brother of Doug Riley (Deceased) who used to play drums for Gold City.
I have heard the same thing about EHSS. I don't know if it's true though. I have been to four Gold City and three EHSS concerts and they were not lip sinking in them.
man thats called a lead in/resolution, he hit it then jumped to lead in to the shout section. He resolved the chord to help it lead in. also people mess up too. no ones perfect.
George was told years ago @ Stamps-Baxter School of Music that he should strive to be a "singer with a low voice" & NOT just a low singer. Maybe that's why he could handle both smooth solos as well as low notes.
Amen to that Bro, but I don't think so, not as long as Bill Gaither lives, his GVB made that Together DVD with Ernie and SSQ, Gold City sung together with The Oak Ridge Boys, I would like to see little Timmy singing with Aaron;):D:D:D:D
I'm glad that that's only your opinion. Tim is a lot better bass singer than Aaron. Aaron sounds like he's cracking, or his voice is coming out of a cracked barrel or something. Tim has a deep, smooth and low voice.
Actually, you regarded rifleman's comment as opinion and your as fact. I enjoy Aaron's singing because he is more of a personal friend of mine. I think his singing is better. That is my opinion and Timmy Duncan being better is your opinion. I've never heard Aaron's voice crack in concert.
i was talking about the range. Tim can sing low, but not nearly as low as Aaron. in regards to the voice quality, they are about the same, but when i see a bass, i look at how deep they can sing first, and then i consider the pitch and quality of their voice. for example, J.D. Sumner. not a good singer. he only hit the right notes about half the time. BUT he became one of the most famous basses to ever live because of how deep he could sing. thank u for backing me up, Hawkeye315.
I have to agree with you, JD was great at the slide down into the basemnent. As for his singing, he wasn't all that good compared to the likes of George Younce, Tim Riely and many other greats. Sterban of the Oaks is good, but inconsistan he tends to fry and go beyond his range far to often. Even the Great George Younce would try and hit it too low and fry. It's common in bass singers. When Bill Gaither gathered some of the greatest bass singers together for his videos I was thrilled.
Rifleman, Totally agree. One reason I like McCune is because I feel he is a mixture of my three favorite basses: George Younce, Tim Riley and Richard Sterban. A bass connoisseur, I believe, can hear those three in him when he sings; not necessarily in solo's, but when singing with the group. Go see them in concert; he's hilarious. Tim Duncan,...well,... he looks good! (I love to get the SSQ fans stirred up. It doesn't take much.)

Aaron is not thaaat good (yet). Check at 2:03 HIS FAILURE when trying to hit a not that low note.
He just hit lower notes at live already...he needs to acquire constancy.

the thing about Aaron McCune and other bass singers is that they just have a different tamber to their voice than other bass singers.
hondarideralex 3 years ago
Aaron McCune reminds of Big Chief. Don't really know what it is, but something he does in this video, reminds me of that great Bass.

Actually Aaron is a flat out good "singer". That's what Younce was. There is much more to being an outstanding bass than just singing low.

I really like Aaron McCune he's a good choice for the group but in my oppinion, Tim Riley is irreplaceable
