actually all we need is pure speed. If we travelled around space at nearly the speed of light and then returned to earth after a weeks trip. Possible months would have actually gone by on earth. The same occours when flying on an airoplane. if you travel from one country to another by the time you land you will have aged about a second less than your friends back home on the ground.

Actually aquaboy232008, the further away you travel from Earth, the less "relative" your time and motion are, to this planet. If you were several million miles from Earth, it is quite possible, that you would not be affected by time, at all (in the "nothingness of space").

Certainly, a clock, flown around the earth (outside the atmosphere) loses or gains time, compared to a clock on the planet (showing that there is a time DIFFERENCE in space).

You CAN travel very Quickly in space, and although it would take hundreds of yrs to get here, BUT when you are in space, you age MUCH MUCH slower, in fact, you hardly age at ALL.

GRAVITY is a MAJOR player in ageing, so you simply arent affected.

So, it doesnt matter to a scientist form this planet if it takes him 1000yrs, as long as he can stay occupied. And when he gets here, he will be the SMARTEST man !

Well said my friend. Time is also relative per Einstein. So, it may be 21 light years from our perspective on Earth. But to the traveler, even without using wormholes, he wouldn't be able to tell. If he traveled away from earth for 1 year and returned, most of his friends may be dead, because a lifetime would've probably passed. Yet, he'll still look the same.

You have a shaky grasp on the way physics works. Time is experienced more slowly by a person inside a vessel traveling through normal space at a significant fraction of light relative to that experienced by an outside observer. It does not mean he will experience 1000 years on a 1000 year journey. It's called time dilation. It actually occurs at much lower speeds, but is significant at more than .01% of c. But they can workout whats on this planet, and give us perfect pictures of the rings on saturn (NASA website).
