At the time, that wrestling was fake, was a well-known "secret". It wasn't until they were forced to submit to the same standards as professional athletes, when they finally "admitted" it was. However, in the course of action, many did get seriously injured, so I have no reason to believe Captain Lou was lying about his.

On October 18, 1962 Bobo Brazil made history by becoming the first Black American to win the NWA World Heavyweight Title by defeating "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers. Championship.Although Bobo Brazil initially refused the title (because of an "injury" that Rogers had Brazil was awarded the title the next day after doctors had found nothing wrong with Rogers. However, this title change is not recognized by the NWA Give Bobo the recognition he deserves. The NWA needs to fix this once and for all.

Funny how Lou mentions Bobo Brazil.
When Bobo won the NWA World Title, he had to drop it days later because of "injury" aka the NWA board didnt want a black man representing the National Wrestling Alliance which was a southern good ol boy organization by then. His title reign has never been recognized.

You're right except BoBo "refused" the championship because of Buddy Rodgers "injury". He said that he didn't want to get the Championship because the other wrestler was "injured".
It's so unbelievable to think that, even to this day, the NWA STILL doesn't reconize BoBo!! On all of the lists of Champions, Ron Simmons is still listed as the 1st African American Champion!!

What were they protecting by flat out lying about blades and bookers when outside the bounds of any wrestling show and probably most of the wrestling audience? It's like an actor "protecting the movie business" by denying the existence of make-up or scriptwriters. The only thing they were protecting was their jobs and the corruption that goes on behind the scenes. Wrestling sells out 80K seat stadiums today "unprotected" for the most part.

Nothing against Lou though. He was a great entertainer in and out of wrestling, and he probably went kayfabe on such a neutral show (he wasn't representing any feds at the time, I think) because he didn't want to be blackballed by promoters.
