The title of amateur isn't received simply by the notes you hit but the style.

Of course he plays the notes fine but overall his style of the techniques and way of playing is to an amateur-like degree.

You'd understand if you played guitar.. or if you do you probably haven't been playing long enough to understand.

To the average non-guitarist then it sounds fine and just like all the others..

the sweep is hard but you don't have to do that.

Well.. it's pretty standard. I use a rectifier sim on a modelling pedal, slightly boosted with a tube screamer, added delay, and finally a touch of reverb. Just don't overdo it, or you'll end up getting mushy distortion.
