Wow this is really cool. I could imagine that if you started doing this while a friend was over who knew nothing about MIDI output from the soundcard they'd get pretty freaked out lol.
Windows Media Player is simply playing the MIDI file. Instead of it using the default GS Wavetable synth which Windows XP comes with, it's sending it out of the MIDI Out port on my soundcard. I connected that to the MIDI In port on my soundcad, which my own program, "Bleeper Music Maker", is listening to. My program looks out for Note On and Note Off MIDI messages and then makes the beeps accordingly.
I'm not sure what you mean. This is a Windows program that runs on your own computer - it's not some kind of web-based service. ;)
Also, in the current version (revision 145), you can either make your own music from scratch and save it as a BMM file, or you can tick "Play a MIDI file" and choose an actual MIDI file on the new window which will have appeared. MIDI files are certainly better, but you can only play (not edit) them on my program.
lol I'm kinda new to this kinda stuff which Is probably why I'm confusing you here, what I mean is can I just drag and drop or upload a song that's in my music library and change it to bleeps like that or do I actually have to compose the song myself. is that any easier to understand?
Yes, thanks, I think I understand what you mean now. =P
It doesn't work like that, unfortunately. You can compose it yourself on the program (which you can then save as a 'BMM' file). However, you can also load a certain type of file called a MIDI file which someone else may have composed (MIDI files are very small file size-wise, and are usually distributed for free around the internet). You might want to look up more info about MIDI files first. ;)
Awesome job. I tried installing it followed all the instructions installed all the OCX and DLL and unblocked em still had issues.. Looks like im gonna have to program one for myself :(
I'm sorry to hear that. What issues are you having? I'd like to get them sorted in time for "the big revision 140" release (which will have a MIDI file player built-in).
Please tell me by sending a message instead of posting a comment, if that's easier. ;)
I didn't show it off very well, but if you slow down the pulses (increase the duration of them), it doesn't sound quite so rough. Of course, then it sounds worse with multiple notes because it takes longer to cycle through them though.
Could I have the MIDI for Voyage 1970?

oh i get it thanks i thought it was a driver you made or something
Stormtrooper595 2 years ago
Yeah, a driver would be much better, but unfortunately I have no idea how to go about making that kind of thing. =/

This is rather impressive indeed. Good work!

At that point, I sped up the switching between notes to stop it sounding like such a mess. =p
I typed "15" on the keypad to make it switch notes every 15 mS instead of every 60.

so do you have to make the music youreself or can you just upload a song and it automaticly changes it for you?

Awesome work and great idea. This would be a really cool winamp/foobar output plugin if you ever felt like taking it further ;)

When the first song ended, I was hoping you'd say something like "I'm gonna play another one" XD

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Even though it sounds rusty, it sounds awesome if you were doing In The End - Likin Park
I'd do it but again, no technology to do so =(

actually its "Retribution for the Eternal Night" from Touhou series.

I didn't mean the song, I meant the note how it was made, that sort of thing etc.
