What would be the difference between these two scenarios?
#1 God exists, but no one believes in him.
#2 God does not exist, but everyone believes in him.
In my opinion, #1 is a definition of a purely atheistic world.
#2 is an entirely religious world.
One conclusion of this utterly simplistic comparison would be that discussing the existance of God is quite futile. But the faith in his existance, the mere foundation of all religions, is what matters and decides the actions of people.

I simply cannot believe, I'm not assuming that you believe this theory, that our planet was created from dust and a random explosion. I made a simple, logical model that, inspite my somewhat limited ability, might point to the futile in discussing the matter of His existance. But I do agree with you in the sense that there is more that points to God's existance, than to His non-existance. But when we can't define God, how could we then ever prove his existance. @knyppeldyna I understand your point of view. But by definition God is something undefinable. If you read St. Anselm's ontological argument it explains why. In a nutshell he states that if we could understand or define God that would makes us greater than Him. But such a thing is impossible. One of God's many attribute is omniscient(all knowing). We are not, so how could we grasp His being with our limited knowledge.
I do not neglect the theory of gods existence, but the fact that people cannot believe in themselves to live a better life not because something of greater magnitude is above, but for their own concern. Why must there be a force to drive us. And if god was real, why would he create man? and why would he create free will? furthermore why would he create something he cannot control?

This is not a true story and it should not be portrayed as such. Lying for the sake of promoting of good is INFINITELY WORSE than telling the truth for sake of promoting evil.

I think the wrong argument has been staged here, it should have been: "evil does not exist, just like the cold & darkness. Man did not create evil, evil is what happens when man does not have the presence of goodness in his heart" whether the man has God's love in his heart or not is totally irrelevant. A person can claim he loves God and do the most evil things in God's name. The love of God should only be a mean to the end of performing goodness.

Evil, on the other hand, can only act when the above is missing, neglected or rejected. Good creates happiness, trust and love. Evil creates misery, distrust and hate. All men want to be happy, that's why good can exist on it's own. Furthermore, God is beyond good and evil. God is, that is the only thing we can say about 'him'.
In the beginning, God and man were one, they were not separated, man could not choose between good or bad. @Littral To truly love someone, it must be your choice. To love someone entirely, you must also see that there is an ALTERNATIVE, but still choose love, over the alternative. That is the truest form of love. Of course, when you are given a choice, some will choose instead to hate. Thus given a world where love is only known, humans would be born made only to love, which defeats the purpose of Choosing to love.

Well, the truth is what the professor says, matematicaly speaking, is absolutely wrong. he's making deductions and, according to matemathic laws, if A implying B is true, that doesn't prove that the reverse is true either ( B ---> A). I think it would be easier to address the existence of God, by defining God. The dictionary define god as Supreme Being. A supreme being can be conceived. Science is searching for this type of existence with its use of many experiments, but tests can only produce results for what interact with the tests. Just because we can or can’t experience something with our senses doesn’t mean it doesn’t. Finding a being of such immensity is a monolithic task.

How strange it would be for the teacher to be making such a claim in the first place, considering Einstein went to a Catholic school.
And given that little nugget, it's likely his teacher would be familiar with Augustine, who started all this Privatio Boni nonsense in the first place.

None committed their atrocities in the name of atheism, or used atheism as a reasoning for it. Their ideas were bred out of their support of Communism. So this commercial advocates bringing God and religion back into schools. Which religion and which God? Hindu? Christian? Muslim? Druids? Believe what you want but that is a legitimate question. What was that? Christian? Okay. Should we go with Southern Baptist, Catholic or Mormon? Or maybe Non-denominational feel good stuff? And what about the poor Jewish kids? Einstein may have a religious believer when he was a child, but for most of his life he was NOT a believer. When questioned about it he wrote "I believe in the god of Spinoza", The significance of this statement was that Spinoza, although of Jewish origin had rejected Jewish teaching was consequently excommunicated. He did not attempt to return to Judaism nor convert to any other religion. Both Einstein and Spinoza talked about a god in nature, and not a personal Diety.

I saw only part of this one time, but I didn't really know what the commercial was for, and I honestly thought that Einstein said that. Religion is disputed way too often to be taught in school, but then again, science can sometimes trump what people believe. So the whole situation is like a dog chasing its tail.
All in all, what that kid said makes a lot of sense to me either way; connecting science with religion. Anyone can connect with at least part of it, despite the intentions of the ad.

Doesn't matter if he believed or not. What he said is still true and I'd like to see some of you prove it wrong. Even if we have God in our hearts we still are able to sin but that doesn't mean we are evil. Who has the right to define what evil is but God alone? We were made in His image and all we can do is except His grace into our hearts. once we do that He will begin to change us and just as the bible says, what do darkness and light have to do with each other?

I think the wrong argument has been staged here, it should have been: "evil does not exist, just like the cold & darkness. Man did not create evil, evil is what happens when man does not have the presence of goodness in his heart" whether the man has God's love in his heart or not is totally irrelevant. A person can claim he loves God and do the most evil things in God's name. The love of God should only be a mean to the end of performing goodness.

@hupps700 I strongly disagree with you. Good is not absence of evil. Good acts on it's own. The base for good is truth, awareness and love. Evil, on the other hand, can only act when the above is missing, neglected or rejected. Good creates happiness, trust and love. Evil creates misery, distrust and hate. All men want to be happy, that's why good can exist on it's own. Furthermore, God is beyond good and evil. God is, that is the only thing we can say about 'him'.

In the beginning, God and man were one, they were not separated, man could not choose between good or bad. At the moment of "the fall" and ever after, man was given the choice between good or bad, truth or lie, love or "hate". Albert Einstein is right. Darkness is only the absence of light, cold is only the absence of warmth. Sin (hatred, greed, envy etc.) is only absence of love. Since God is love, and this is the only truth man can say about God, "sin" is a result of the absence of God in us.

@Littral To truly love someone, it must be your choice. To love someone entirely, you must also see that there is an ALTERNATIVE, but still choose love, over the alternative. That is the truest form of love. Of course, when you are given a choice, some will choose instead to hate. Thus given a world where love is only known, humans would be born made only to love, which defeats the purpose of Choosing to love.

Good and evil are not more real than cold and darkness. They're just words. There are a seemingly infinite amount of words that describe things that don't physically exist, it isn't proof of anything, it's just nonsense.
Good and evil are just words that people use to describe what they do and don't like. There is no good, no evil. They don't physically exist. I consider religion to be deeply evil, whereas some would consider it to be good. Good and evil aren't tangible things, just adjectives

The absolutely was an Atheist, you are right. 'Spinoza's God' is so often misinterpreted. This philosophical concept of 'God' that Spinoza used to express his ideas is really just another way of describing the determinism of the universe. Einstein specifically stated that he DID NOT believe in the Christian God, nor any other mythological creature or fictional character!

Well, the truth is what the professor says, matematicaly speaking, is absolutely wrong. he's making deductions and, according to matemathic laws, if A implying B is true, that doesn't prove that the reverse is true either ( B ---> A). Einstein speach coming afterwards is just pure garbage, means absolutely nothing, because you can't study good or evil. I think it would be easier to address the existence of God, by defining God. The dictionary define god as Supreme Being. A supreme being can be conceived. Science is searching for this type of existence with its use of many experiments, but tests can only produce results for what interact with the tests. Just because we can or can’t experience something with our senses doesn’t mean it doesn’t. Finding a being of such immensity is a monolithic task.

Wow. There's so much wrong there I don't even know where to start.
First off, this little anecdote has about as much credibility as Lady Hope's account of Darwin's last-minute conversion.
How strange it would be for the teacher to be making such a claim in the first place, considering Einstein went to a Catholic school.
And given that little nugget, it's likely his teacher would be familiar with Augustine, who started all this Privatio Boni nonsense in the first place.

@132435hhh Honestly, everyone is like an atheist, the only difference between you and an absolute atheist is that an atheist believes in one less god then you do. You don't believe in a single god outside your religion, How many religions out there have a god, goddess or whatever they may believe in? WHAT IF WE ARE BOTH WRONG? There's a question that an atheist may not have asked before.

@LUCKIEI how can you say that what hitler did was because of the bible? That is truly absurd when his whole regime centred on him being the Fuhrer, there was no place for religion as it implied there was a being who was higher the Hitler. Hitler also went out and killed Jews not non believers.
The bible tells us Christians to make disciples of all nations, u are taking parts of the bible and throwing them totally out of context.

I find it amusing when "Einstein" says that darkness doesn't really exist. Because in Bible it says:
(GEN 1:1): "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."
(GEN 1:2): "The earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters."
(GEN 1:3): "And God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light."
Funny, God created the heaven & earth... in the dark... before he made light.

@Heteblixem yahweh and religion is needed though, considering we can't explain everything it really keeps people going. humans like to have reasons for everything especially our existence. i personally am atheist and proud of it, but i do realize without religion the world would be anarchy and chaos.

@LUCKIEI - Two books are primarily responsible for most of the mass murder & torture in the past 1500 years. These are the Bible & Koran.
Religion is a frequent source of conflict and cruelty. Monstrous crimes have been committed in its name. And more often than not it has stood in the way of efforts at human liberation and progress. If we lay to rest the God of Abraham, 70% of the violence in this world would vanish.

@Tearstojoy - Stalin, and Mao's actions weren't attributed to their atheism. They all killed for communism. None committed their atrocities in the name of atheism, or used atheism as a reasoning for it. Their ideas were bred out of their support of Communism. They could've been Christians and supported Communism and the outcome may have been the same. It's a fact that there are CHRISTIAN Communists.
