  • I got mine today and I didn't have any ghosting :S

  • Does the ghosting only appear when browsing the internet/word documents or on games too?

  • You know what though, after I turn off Overdrive (OD) and turn off the monitor or switch inputs, Overdrive comes back on! I can't get the setting to "stick". Anyone know how to fix *that*?

  • For delete ghosting, its simple. press 7 sec on menu touch en same on the touche power. a new spécial blue menu come, in the new menu, Choose OFF in OSD.. Sorry for my bad english, im french. IITS THE SOLUTION FOR THE GHOSTING

  • @criminologue Wow, that TOTALLY worked!!! I had no idea that menu was there.

  • I have this monitor and no ghosting but the only thing I hate about this monitor is the stand,it was a pain to set up.

  • "I THINK I MIGHT HAVE FIXED IT. Stumbled into the secret service menu for asus monitors...i'm still testing, but i wanted to get this out there for others affected.

Seems to be related to the OverDrive feature being turned on. To get into service menu: Power down, hold menu button + power on....when display shows up, let go of menu button again. Move down to OD option, hit menu to select, hit up or down to turn OFF." - Asus forums.

Try this people. It helped me out a lot.

  • @Leivonmies I have the VE247H and I noticed a bit of ghosting with black text on a grey background. I turned off OverDrive and it's actually a lot better now. Thanks!

  • @Leivonmies Yep, that fixes it alright! I'm going to make a quick little video on how to do this. Thank you!!!!

  • @Leivonmies While that did fix it, I can't get the setting to stick. Any idea how to fix that?

  • @CrazyDood69 No sorry. I have the exact same problem and haven't been able to fix it... :-/

  • @Leivonmies Yeah, so disabling OD fixes it, but you also can't make the setting "save"?

  • @CrazyDood69 Apparently no... It's quite annoying to start your monitor holding down the menu button since you have to do it every single time you change device, start playing a game on ps3 (sometimes pc too) and after you've shut the monitor down.

  • @CrazyDood69 I think the problem is the graphics card drivers that forces the screen to activate the OD because all other menu options special register. The problem is to find the catalyst for ATI or NVIDIA software, I think.

  • I have 3 of these monitors and noticed the ghosting is only noticed when set in game mode. For the money I cant seem to find a good monitor with HDMI, DVI, audio, and is a 23-24" with tilt. I tried out 3 Acer S231HL's but they have no audio for headset when playing xbox so I have no sound at all with xbox. I didnt want to buy a separate monitor just for xbox. My TV has too much input lag.

  • I can't see your ghosting passed my own crappy monitor's ghosting.

  • I have had the same ghosting issues with an ASUS VE248H (Manufactured Date December 2010) on my ATI Radeon HD4850 connected via DVI-D.

The ghosting effects were most noticeable on the "Windows-Grey" (RGB 212,208,200). Black letters left a white trail, blue letters yellow ones, and so on...

  • @AKalph4 That's the first time I've heard of ghosting on an ATI card on this monitor. I see the ghosting on one computer, then I take it to another computer and the ghosting is gone. It doesn't make any sense.

  • what is ghosting??

  • @maximeperron12

In general ghosting refers to the presence of faint repetitions of display images/text. With analog signals you might see a translucent "twin" next to the actor(s) (or between other contrasting edges). With digital, the effect is more of a blurry remnant of the image that's still briefly visible after it's changed position. Analog shows the effect even in still-frame, whereas digital ghosting is typically only revealed with motion. Different causes, somewhat similar effects.

  • @Skepdisc thanks man!

  • i bought this monitor and i have an nvidia geforce 310m video card and there is no ghosting whatsoever

  • Thank you for this video. It's videos like these that help others a great deal when making such a large purchase.

  • I don't have a "ghosting" issue, but I do have an issue where the screen will go black and will come up "No VGA Signal", "No DVI Signal", or "No HDMI Signal". I have tried all three connections and it has got to be the monitor. I didn't have this issue before when I had it hooked up to my tv. So far, the only solution I have found to fix this issue is manually shutting down the computer. Reconnecting and/or shutting the monitor off doesn't work.

    Anyone else having this complication?

  • @Twistoffaith71686 Hey there Twist.. What brand of video chipset do you have, ATI or nVidia?

  • @CrazyDood69 It's an nVidia

  • good thing I do research before buying, and this video DEFINITELY helps.

I almost bought it, but now good to know its ghosting. thanks.

  • @wawtest Well, there's actually some conflicting reports now. It seems that MAYBE it only does the ghosting on nVidia cards and that on ATI cards it may not show the ghosting. I don't understand myself. I say, if you get a good deal on it and can return it easily, give it a try, because some people aren't getting the ghosting and so far the only pattern is nVidia vs. ATI. Weird huh?

  • @CrazyDood69 i got an an nvidia geforce 310m and theres no ghosting at all on mine

  • thnks for the vid.

    I'm getting something else

  • You know I almost didn't buy this monitor because of your video, but I'm glad I took a chance and bought it after all. I don't know if they've corrected the problem with new revisions of that monitor or if it's your video card or if I just got lucky, but I don't have any of the ghosting issues shown in this video. I use DVI, run in full native (1920x1080, 60Hz) and have a pretty slick ATi Radeon Display Adapter. Maybe something there is what makes the difference.

  • @intechpc Yeah, I dunno, it might be. Here's what's weird now that you mention it. I have two ASUS monitors (one LED, one fluoro) and both of these monitors ghost on my nVidia card, but on a different machine using an ATI card at least one monitor (only tried one) doesn't seem to ghost. The weird thing is, my 27" Dell I've had for a long time, using the nVidia *doesn't* ghost. So I don't know what's going on, but I think you could be onto something.

  • dam i have the same problem with mine but i got it from frys and there fagsssssss does anybody know if they will refund me

  • guys i have the same prob but only with one of them. I have these in dual screen and one ghosts and the other is perfect. So weird going to contact asus and see what they are going to do about it considering they have 3yrs on sight warranty.

  • Just purchased this monitor this week and have had no ghosting whatsoever. I would have to go with defective model...

  • @DboyBaker Hey, do you have an ATI or nVidia chipset card?

  • @CrazyDood69

I first ran this with my old Radeon x1050. I'm now running this with the Nvidia Gtx 570.

Oddly now that I am using the 570 I actually do see slight ghosting emanating from black text on a white background when moved correctly.

I don't know if it might also have something to do with the cording change or monitor settings etc., but right now I CAN recreate the results of your video. (Not to such a degree though)

  • I also had one of these and mine did the same thing. I set up a return with Newegg; they sent me a prepaid UPS shipping label to return it and refunded me the full amount.

  • @sircanegiem Yeah, I've considered sending it back. But I can't find another 24" monitor with an LED backlight, a VESA mount and HDMI *and* DVI. :\

  • did you return it?

  • I have exactly the same problem with my VE247H.. I hate this..

  • @vaniakurochka Yeah, this would be a great monitor if it wasn't for the motion ghosting. :\

  • Right. I'm holding the camera as still as I can and moving the window around on the screen. So the problem is when high-contrast elements are moving around the screen, such as black text on a white background.

  • wait so thats the monitor not the camera moving?

  • @nrubmx he is moving the window, not the monitor or camera, though the camera could possibly be shakey but not the point.

Was over the moon when I heard about this monitor, had everything I wanted, LED backlight, HDMI, DVI, VGA and VESA mountable. The acer s1 series was probably the first to have them all but it lacked audio out (hdmi becomes almost useless) and now this one has ghosting... wonder if I will live to see the day a decent one comes out.

  • @suzaku64 I felt the same way. :(

  • @suzaku64 o my gosh wow that sucks
