  • this is some serious pipe work! jeezzuss!

  • J'ai halluciné quand je me suis offert le 45 tours en 1987. Immense.

  • Bjork is the best vocalist ever. My daughter was born to "Debut".

  • Right up there, for sure. She gives me goosebumps!!!

  • WOW this takes me back to 1988! I listened to this and the rest of the album over and over all year long and subsequent years until it faded.... I was spellbound by her when I first saw her on 120 mins on MTV (back when they played music) and knew she would be around for a long time. For some reason I have always thought this song was about child molestation? Anyone else?

  • Björk said it's about a love affair between between a 5 year old girl and a 50 year old man. I think it's 50. You can read about her songs on her website, there is a great "about & about" section! It's really amazing!

  • Thank You! It's nice to get a little confirmation on something long suspected!

  • Bjork is famous for the wrong thing. This song is fantastic.

  • Amen

  • I saw them open up for PIL who opened up for New Order at the Shoreline Ampitheatre..... BEST SHOW EVER!

  • Bjork-Amazing Pipes!!!!! Awesome-sew them in 1991; "Monsters of College Rock" tour Summerfest Mil. WI-AWESOME SHOW!!!

  • love this song! today's my birhday!! yahhh!

  • The memories of when we were young and youthful...Ahhh good times..

  • I remember sitting in my friends car years ago and he played this while we where watching the stars killing some time....miss you and thanks for the music..vee

  • your dad sounds f'n awesome.

  • Thanks for sharing this great video!

  • is das live??? klasse gesungen, sie ist schon ein stimmenwunder

  • Thanks i haven't heard this in yrs.

  • I have loved this song and Bjork and the Sugarcubes for years. I hope that Icelanders are well.

  • I got this for my birthday today!!! Thank you, Darko!! :D

  • Wow I never knew bjork was formerly in a band! I heard this on someone's blog and loved it thought it reminded me of bjork - go figure haha.

  • Yes, the Sugarcubes were awesome back in the day. Not sure what happened to the other band members after Bjork went solo.

  • what happened at 1:56??

    who kissed her?

  • A fan jumped on stage and kissed her. He was quickly pushed back by security but actually managed to get on stage again later in the gig. That time I think they threw him out!

  • *swoon*

Without B, there IS no Sugarcubes.

The guy playing the horn, all crazy, live, that wack- assed rapper guy, the only ones that never give me a problem, is the keyboardist & drummer.

Odd, tho. even when u look up her children album cover, when she was 12, it is consistent with her later solo album covers, with stylized name font & a basic frontal pic, of her. Its like she's been the same, solo, regardless of any work with other bands.

    Gotta love her!

  • This was shot in 1987 .

  • bjork is young and talented all the time.

  • i love bjork

  • I love it ! *-*

  • I saw the Sugar Cubes at the Limelight in New York Back in 1990 and I was awestruck by Bjorks voice and presence.

  • You are so lucky I have yet to see Bjork live. My only regret is that the sugar cubes aren't together any more.

  • It will always be a cherished moment for me.

  • This is one of their best song... Birthday... Björks's voice is so amazing !!!

  • Sugarcubes from mid- to late- 80's. Great stuff

  • Yes, that is Bjork. I can always tell by her voice. But I like her voice, it's interesting. And holy crap, she is pretty in a very interesting way. I cannot believe that she is way older now, and she still looks young. (I know that this video is old)

  • is that bjork?

  • I fear the future. :-( of course it is.

  • are you mental?

  • sorry i was born in 1984. Plus some untalented ass clown playing the fugal horn doesnt seem very good to me, plus i didnt think bjork was that old.

  • Just because you are young doesn't mean you won't one day be considered old. It is not nice to refer to people as old. We are all just humans living in this world, so don't be offensive. She is AMAZING!!!! No matter what age she is :)

  • if thier old thier old, we all get old and die its a part of life, you need to understand this in order to move on with your life. Also, i never said she wasn't talented, you should really read a statement before replying to it.

  • I didn't mean to sound offensive I was only stating a fact. You are right we do get old but now @ 35 I feel so enlightened!!! I wouldn't want to change the fact that I have lived threw so many changes both musically & historically. I hope you understand I just wanted to hear that you thought she is talented.... She is AMAZING & I wish someday to see her....

  • gees it amazing how we end up old so quick at 34(in my case) saw someone left a comment saying her dad used to listen to this on the way to school hello this was just out wasn't it

  • I'm sorry you were ever born

  • she looks like bjork

  • *smack*

  • this is one of the few songs where I don't think about the words very much. Its like the words were an excuse for her to make sounds. I had almost forgotten about it, thanks for posting it.

  • Amazing

  • Me too this is one of my favorites (: this song is fascinating i've listened fifteen times and I'm not tired of hearing

    love itt !!

  • I <3 Birthday! Thanks for posting the video.

  • :) one of my favorites!

  • that was the best song she ever wrote

  • I love Bijork shes such a lady!!!!

  • A fibre optic coconut.

    You've just made my life.

  • What a voice! I love this song!

  • ahhh - what a trip down memoury lane - love this, love this, love this - makes me feel young and nostalgic at the same time - Brilliant!

  • nice analogy.

  • Just fascinating!!! The most original vocal ability thus far! Bjork is a true inspiration and is, the perfect example of one's soul speaking through expression.

  • I wouldn't say "THE" most original vocal ability. She does have an incredible voice, but let us never forget the awe inspiring voice of Elizabeth Frazier. Both those ladies give me chills when they sing, but Elizabeth can bring tears to your eyes

  • Second only to Liz Frazier

  • second to none

  • saw them first as kukl when they were gigging with a flux of pink indians around 84

  • This is brilliant...way better than than what the Smiths could've done.....remember they were the SHIT when this came out.

  • Why slate the Smiths in your praise for the Sugarcubes?, two totally different types of music with two very different messages. Morrissey couldn't do what Bjork does and Bjork certainly couldn't do what Morrissey does, just celebrate them both and don't cancel one out to praise the other, that's what children do.

  • Uh buddy I'm a BIG Smiths fan.....I just think this is spectacular to the dark and drab but excitable Smiths

  • You said this was "way better than what The Smiths could've done". The Smiths wouldn't have been seen dead attempting anything this deliberately stylised. The Sugarcubes were an innovative band but they don't talk to people lyrically the way The Smiths do - nobody does. The smiths are dark and drab because they hold up a mirror to what life really was/is for people in working class Britain. Bjork holds a mirror to what life might be like inside a fibre optic coconut, not quite the same thing...

  • wow- couldn't have put it better myself-

you could write for music magazines... ;-)

  • Good comment mate, right you are!

  • i shoulda married her.

  • Been there.

    Done that.

    She's mine.

    :P

  • I saw this video 21 years ago. The moment I saw Bjork I fell in love with her. Great voice!

  • i saw this on tv a couple of years ago

and i looked her up last year cuz i remembered her,

    and now i love her

    (:

  • does anybody know, who that guy is that comes on stage and kisses her???

  • 奇跡だな

    音楽上bjorkが最後の奇跡に感じるPVです

  • I first saw and heard this on 120 Minutes and went out and bought the album the very next day...ON VINYL!

  • The digital remastering proved its effects here: excellent quality in sound and image, certainly for YouTube Standards.

(and on a more personal level, one more Laureat: this song (seen on MTV) made my 31st birthday a day in blissful heaven, Thanks to Björk & The Sugarcubes & The Makers of this Video)

  • great voice. at 2:22 did she change her clothes?

  • The guy was a fan that got pass security she must of made his day!!! I love this song I first heard it on a record I go way back xDD I love her and her weirdness its awesome!! =)

  • keep spiders in her pocket?? and that scream...simply amazing.........

  • I remember seeing this video once, years ago, when it was released, and the bit where the she is kissed by the young man really left an impression on me.

  • she looked weirded out by that kiss.... who was that guy??

  • Amazing !! She is truly of a kind, what a voice!!

  • She's so off the wall it's so awsome! nothing like it!

  • Were can i download this vid lol i luv her music specially her style

  • i'm not familliar with another song which defies so effectively the expectations produced by its title

  • what a pompous remark!

  • My favourite song of all time

  • Nice job on the clean-up. Thanks!

  • shes the best female singer ever

  • I love Bjork!

  • Heh. I used to try and sing this in the shower when I was a kid. =) The viddy looks great.
