WOW this takes me back to 1988! I listened to this and the rest of the album over and over all year long and subsequent years until it faded.... I was spellbound by her when I first saw her on 120 mins on MTV (back when they played music) and knew she would be around for a long time. For some reason I have always thought this song was about child molestation? Anyone else?
Björk said it's about a love affair between between a 5 year old girl and a 50 year old man. I think it's 50. You can read about her songs on her website, there is a great "about & about" section! It's really amazing!
I remember sitting in my friends car years ago and he played this while we where watching the stars killing some time....miss you and thanks for the music..vee
A fan jumped on stage and kissed her. He was quickly pushed back by security but actually managed to get on stage again later in the gig. That time I think they threw him out!
The guy playing the horn, all crazy, live, that wack- assed rapper guy, the only ones that never give me a problem, is the keyboardist & drummer.
Odd, tho. even when u look up her children album cover, when she was 12, it is consistent with her later solo album covers, with stylized name font & a basic frontal pic, of her. Its like she's been the same, solo, regardless of any work with other bands.
Yes, that is Bjork. I can always tell by her voice. But I like her voice, it's interesting. And holy crap, she is pretty in a very interesting way. I cannot believe that she is way older now, and she still looks young. (I know that this video is old)
Just because you are young doesn't mean you won't one day be considered old. It is not nice to refer to people as old. We are all just humans living in this world, so don't be offensive. She is AMAZING!!!! No matter what age she is :)
if thier old thier old, we all get old and die its a part of life, you need to understand this in order to move on with your life. Also, i never said she wasn't talented, you should really read a statement before replying to it.
I didn't mean to sound offensive I was only stating a fact. You are right we do get old but now @ 35 I feel so enlightened!!! I wouldn't want to change the fact that I have lived threw so many changes both musically & historically. I hope you understand I just wanted to hear that you thought she is talented.... She is AMAZING & I wish someday to see her....
gees it amazing how we end up old so quick at 34(in my case) saw someone left a comment saying her dad used to listen to this on the way to school hello this was just out wasn't it
this is one of the few songs where I don't think about the words very much. Its like the words were an excuse for her to make sounds. I had almost forgotten about it, thanks for posting it.
Just fascinating!!! The most original vocal ability thus far! Bjork is a true inspiration and is, the perfect example of one's soul speaking through expression.
I wouldn't say "THE" most original vocal ability. She does have an incredible voice, but let us never forget the awe inspiring voice of Elizabeth Frazier. Both those ladies give me chills when they sing, but Elizabeth can bring tears to your eyes
Why slate the Smiths in your praise for the Sugarcubes?, two totally different types of music with two very different messages. Morrissey couldn't do what Bjork does and Bjork certainly couldn't do what Morrissey does, just celebrate them both and don't cancel one out to praise the other, that's what children do.
You said this was "way better than what The Smiths could've done". The Smiths wouldn't have been seen dead attempting anything this deliberately stylised. The Sugarcubes were an innovative band but they don't talk to people lyrically the way The Smiths do - nobody does. The smiths are dark and drab because they hold up a mirror to what life really was/is for people in working class Britain. Bjork holds a mirror to what life might be like inside a fibre optic coconut, not quite the same thing...
The digital remastering proved its effects here: excellent quality in sound and image, certainly for YouTube Standards.
(and on a more personal level, one more Laureat: this song (seen on MTV) made my 31st birthday a day in blissful heaven, Thanks to Björk & The Sugarcubes & The Makers of this Video)
The guy was a fan that got pass security she must of made his day!!! I love this song I first heard it on a record I go way back xDD I love her and her weirdness its awesome!! =)
I remember seeing this video once, years ago, when it was released, and the bit where the she is kissed by the young man really left an impression on me.
