I saw them play at the Grand Hotel in Sydney, '78 or '79, I'm not sure. they threw out copies into the audience of this 45 on whatever the first label was. I got one but don't think I have it anymore. Then they went to England I think. Around that time they also got a write up in Spurt magazine published by Ian Hartley.
Fucking great. This 45 was played in the interval at the Mountford Hall in Liverpool between Joy Divisions set and the Buzzcocks in autumn '79. The whole place went fucking wild.
Aptly named group for one of the last true punk songs.
Malcom! I love it! I spent my teens and..twenties in gigs, and punk music was part of my saturday nights...I'm forwarding the link to my french mates, because I don't think this song crossed the border, but I could be wrong...See you soon! Fred
Malcolm Baxter produced our first ever single on Tribal Records for my band, Doubt, in the western suburbs of Sydney, Australia. He managed to get government funding for the youth in Liverpool. A smart man. He was singing in Tenement Dance then. Last I heard he was singing christian rock, but not sure...Great times. Thanks Malcolm. Joe Ierano.
That's my cousin singing. Haven't seen him since way back when in Dundee Scotland.
I remember listening to the John Peel radio show around 1980, and out of the blue he said that he was a fan of The Last Words, then he played their record (which might have been this one). I was gobsmacked.
Many thanks for posting this. I had the single untill someone bit the first verse out of it at a party many many years ago. Never seen this footage before - underated band
where did this come from ? wow Malcolm you look sooooooo young , wonder if you remember doing a gig, on George st. Sydney at the opening of "the great rock and roll swindle" - I was playing bass .
I totally loved this song when it came out all those years ago. I was 15 years old when it was released. A classic. I've been trying to find an mp3 of this song for ages now. Glad someone has put this up.
That's you dad singing? That's my brother on guitar!!Can you tell me WHO put this on you tube. I suspect it may be Andy, but, I'm not too sure. Hello to Malcom (did I spell that right?) and Loretta...mmm (did I spell THAT right too?)Anyway hello. Clive.
Another fine example of late 70s Aussie Punk Rock!
