I'am very sad - so that mark didn't a studio album - Satriani is a more tallented guitarist then a Steve Morse, his got an energy - and he is not so passive like a Steve..
What a load of BS. Ofcourse The PlainMan is NOT a rockguitarplayer.
He is not a composer either. The charisma is almost non existent as well. Anyone trying to convince others after 16 horrible years has a very creative or egocentric mind.
RESPECT or CONVICTION one does not get by morons who try to prove the impossible, those 2 prove themselves and dont need anyone for help. Like most religious freaks fans of Morse should agree if he ssuch a wonder they would not have to endorse him that much/.
@purpelaar In other words, if someone disagrees with your ignorant and ill informed verbal sludge, they shouldn't be able to express any disagreement. Not a composer?SIFLS?Highland Wedding?Night Meets Light?General Lee?Long Lost?Soon Forgotten?etc.,etc.I'm sorry,I thought you had a clue as to what you were talking about, but you've proven otherwise.I don't have to endorse anyone, the tunes are the proof. It'd be nice if Blackmore had done anything as interesting in the last 15/20 years.
Let me put my two cents worth in. Joe's style of playing is very compatible with the old Deep Purple. The new direction they have evolved into with Steve is very refreshing and a worthy endeavour. I know it doesn't fully please everyone including me, but they are not supposed to make music for you or I. They should make music to please themselves and we can come watch if we want, or not.
Bet that someone who refers to Steve as country guitarist is ignorant? That's not a bet, that's a fact.Even Ritchie has country roots, but I wouldn't be so ignorant as to call him country either.
As you can see, I didn't actually say that Steve is a country guitarist. But I give you my point of view on that. I think it's a bit more than just roots in the case of Steve, as well as in Ritchie's but he is much closer to classical music and blues. Steve became a 'rocker' by joining DP (listen to his solo albums). Satch didn't have a country or classical influence while playing for Purple. Just professional blues/rock type of playing. Is that correct now? In short..
You are the one that said he's basically a country guitarist, and now you're backtracking.I just quoted what YOU wrote. All I said is that anyone who thinks that is ignorant.IF you don't like Steve, or Steve in Purple, that's fair.
I'm not trying to get into a pissing match, but I have seen that opinion parroted without much thought.Steve's played rock since before high school, plus college. He has a wide range of styles.I'm not aware of him ever playing in a southern rock act. He's great, but he doesn't appease everyone, which is fair. He's not Ritchie, and for some that's unforgivable.
I love these gigs with Satch. I sometimes wonder what would have happend if he had joined Purple. Yet I still think that Steve Morse is the best thing that happened to Deep Purple since they reunited in 1984.

Steve Morse is basically a country guitarist. That's why Satch fits better. It's not the Green Onions riff, it's a typical riff.

Someone has to be pretty ignorant to refer to Steve as a "country guitarist".

Come on! Sorry for forgetting the quotation mark on "country guitarist". Did you get anything else from my previous comment?

I'm not backtracking. I just realized that my comment was ambiguous. Don't get me wrong, I like Steve and I like him playing with Purple.
