With regard to the Speed Cubing competitions, do the judges jumble up the cubes that are to be solved? And does each solver start with the same exact pattern of 'discumbobulation', if you will? Well... the problem with shampoo/conditioner is that it does dry up fast. Maybe some light lubing will help it. Depending with the type of condition you have, you just have to get a q-tip and wet it and then use it on the inside. I do this sometimes because my cube gets sticky. but u can do whatever u like

you should lube ur cube. I tend to use hair conditioner or shampoo because it doesn't ruin ur cube, is easy to clean up, and is easy to find. I can solve the cube no problem in less than a minute.

Vaseline is not ideal. You may find it picks up a lot of gunk, dust, shavings of plastic etc. I would reccommend cleaning it out thoroughly several times, then using any 100% silicone lubricant such as jig-a-loo (US) or draper tools silicone spray (UK)
