Pink Eye is a number one that can be transmitted. You can get it just about anywhere's you go in life. I have got it from dogs, dust in the house, etc...Please see a eye doctor.

Sometime things like mascara, liquid eyeliner and other liquid eye preparations become contaminated. It's this bacteria that causes either eye inflammation or eye infection. Don't mess with your eyes. Make sure your brushes and materials are as bacteria free as you can keep them.

@mikelinbasher I do sometimes wear contacts, but they are clear, no color added. That is my natural eye color...although I'm not normally bloodshot! hehe :)

I would suggest going to an eye doctor instead of a regular doctor if you haven't already, especially if there are bumps inside your eyelids. I had another eye problem and I had to wear these bandaid contact things and take drops. I'm sorry you are having problems. Good luck.

Put really cold water under your eyes like dip a face cloth into really cold water and dap it under your eyes then relax for alittle while or you cold use cucumber to soften the under bit off your eyes but i cant help with the bloodshootness LOL

I don't wear mascara for that very reason. I don't wear anything on my eyes. Not even eyeliner. It sucks so bad b/c I want to wear makeup too.

I guess you could get eyeliner tattooed on your eyes, but that might have a high risk of infection!

pretty color to them,but what kidn of mascara did you use? i have to use clinque only.my eyes are very sensitive.i use to use great lash by maybelline but then they changed the formula and that made me get an allergy.oh well they tamper with the good stuff and make things worse for us all.

I had exactly the same reaction from using Maybelline Great Lash mascara when I was 16. I thought it was a cat allergy & just kept putting more make-up on to try & hide it. A beauty therapist friend told me that Maybelline was full of perfume & to take it off. It cleared up within 3 or 4 days after suffering with this for 4 months. Glad yours seems to have cleared up now. I haven't used Maybelline since.

omigosh I'm severely allergic to maybelline eye products too! i've had the worst puffy,itchy,reaction after using GreatLash for about a month, my mother has had similar problems. i couldn't understand why it would last so long even tho i haven't applied it in a few days.WELL i neglected to wipe my eyelash curler [something i usually do daily!] and the residue must have been the culprit. either way it's been a big pain in the butt and i look like Quasimodo.

Since you are sensitve to Mascare Use Only Hypoallergenic. I have same problem. I have to be careful, Almay-Maybelline-hypo. Be care lotions on face and creams. Don't use off Brands! Now I have latex allergy after using latex gloves and wrote book Latex is not my friend, You Tube. If Pink Eye now sale over counter.

How old is your mascara...if its older than like 3 months it could cause pink eye because of the bacteria growth on the brush

i had that once from flowers but like really bad im allergic to springflowers or however that allergy is called n one time on a hot summerday my eyes have swollen together so i cudnt even see anything.Use Lash Architect from L'Oréal i really like it:-)but probably ur not in the mood fo mascara rite now;-)xoxoxoxo get better soon katxoxoxox

Thanks grrl! I think it is actually pink eye and not allergies afterall! I will try that mascara if I can find it. I had to throw all of mine out because of this. AND I'm always on the lookout for good mascara. I never know what kind to get. Thanks!
