Of course, Cheeko is alive because she saved him. Cheeko is not an endangered specie and she care him very well. Cheeko is not enclosed and he don't go out because he is happy with her. What's the difference to have a dog and a crow?
Are you against to have any kind of pet? Why you don't say nothing about the cat? You only speak about the crow. Do you know dog and wolf are the same specie as bobcat and cat? Do you know the first pet dogs was wolves? I cannot understand what's your problem? I think it are simple prejudices.

Aww lol. The poster of this video already stated that the crow doesn't go outside with a leash... she says he free roams both indoors and out. Lucky birdy! He's so well loved XD.
@Baldoxxx4000 Read a little bit more on neurology specifically that of birds..you just might be surprised. They are incredibly intelligent..New England journal. Look it up.
Wow, I would love to have a raven, or a crow. I'd never take one from the wild, but if I came across a nestling that couldn't be returned to its nest, then that bird would be spoilt rotten! It would probably be snuggled to death!
That is sooo cute! ... My parrots do that too, but I never imagined a crow behaving that way (or being domesticated *either*, for that matter!) ... Thank you for sharing! ... He is adorable!!! ... Angel =]
you can't really just "get" a raven. ravens are huge and you need special arm gear to have them on you. but if you had the time and patience for one, they would make awesome pets!
@marielledelaine not to mention that anyone interested must be prepared to have him for a long time! Ravens live to about 30 years whereas Crows only ~8 years....
that is good advice! so often I hear people say "dont touch it, if you touch it the mom will smell human and reject the chick" but that is so not true! The only birds with a sense of smell are vultures! I hate to think of how many birds die because of this common belief.
cheeko was a nestling, he was unable to fly or walk when found. there is no possible way he could have gotten back into the next. there were no parents around.
Having worked with vultures fpr three years, yes they do find food from smell they have exeptionaly powerful sight and smell. The turkey vulture can smell food from up to two miles away.
We've done tests with ours and they can find food that we buried three days previously.
I think there are some exotic pet stores that sell crows maybe the crows you buy from a certain exotic pet store will live longer than one you find in the wild.
Pet stores don't sell crow, magpies or ravens. What you are probably thinking of is a mynah bird. They are a member of the crow family and very good talkers too boot. And just like the rest of their family tree they can get very noisy. :)
you're so lucky! I once found a baby blackbird who lasted 3 days but she died from cold...
If anyone finds a small bird that needs to stay overnight, make sure to let it rest in a round shaped bed, dont let it lie full out as that lets the heat out.
Aaaaaaww ~ we LOOOVE your bird!! Cheeko is so wonderful!!! Where did you get him from? You know, I kept saying "I wanna find a baby crow and then raise it by myself" ~ guess what happened? Well, a few weeks later I found a baby PIGEON to raise! Haha, she's super cute. But where did you get your bird? He's so cute!!!
lol thanks a lot. i found him on the side of the road with no sidewalk, kinda on the grass. he couldnt even walk or stand, he was just sitting there a tiny little thing, and yelling his head off at us. we were in the car my mom and i, and i ran out and grabbed him! a pidgeon would be SO cute!
Aaaaw.... He had fallen off the nest? Poor little thing, but so wonderful you happened to see him there! Now he has a loving home, so it couldn't be a happier ending! Isn't funny how sometimes an animal can just come to your life? Next time I hope to find a baby crow. ;)
I love your videos. I once tried to save an injured crow, but it died a day later. All I could do was keep it warm and happy until it was laid to rest, poor dear. Ever since that, I have wanted one for a pet!!
i'v always loved the idea of pet crows or ravens, though i doubt i'd ever get one myself. one thign that always puzzled me... do they just poop everywhere, or is he trained to some degree?
Your crow's wings are kind of droopy, and that couls mean that he has stomach or respiratory problems. Especially if he sleeps a lot! I rehab birds for a living. I hope you are aware that crows are omnivores, they eat --everything, and they probably need a lot of protein and some greens or tomatoes or fruits in their diet? I know you love him a lot and want him to live for a long time! I sooo envy you, I have always wished I could be near a crow but we just don't have them where I live.
hmmm thats weird because he eats everything we do, and he eats a diet of expensive good dog food so i dont see how he can lack that stuff. lol he does sleep a lot i think, hes sleeping right now. he doesnt fly at all, so could it have something to do with a lack of supportive muscles?
We don't have crows in Peru :(

you could by from a breeder
argetfalcon 2 years ago
It's illegal to breed ravens or crows here.
verticalsmurf 2 years ago
Correction it's illegal to breed or sell NATIVE crows or ravens. Imported from different continents are perfectly acceptable
argetfalcon 2 years ago 4

Isn't it illegal to import birds from other countries as they may harbour illnesses that could compromise our native birds?
Plus, I wouldn't be willing to buy a healthy bird who should be flying free in it's country of origin.
verticalsmurf 2 years ago
You need a SPECIAL LICENSE TO IMPORT but then they breed them inside the country

Good point. Patience with any bird is an absolute must, be it crow, raven, finch or parrot.

Vultures do not find food from smell. They are like all other birds of prey and are sight hunters.

I didnt suggest that vultures found food from smell, I said they have a sense of smell as opposed to other birds that do not.
