I don't know if this helps but in the middle of the map there are four laundry bins and only one is empty. The overhead map mentions getting in a laundry bin as an escape plan.
After the rat part, the door that you ran by to get back to the showers @ 3:20 with the "X" on it, if you stand by that there is a laugh track that plays, like the mutator... I don't know about the other "X's", I haven't tried those yet.

I don't know if this is of any help, but next to the door where the "help me" sound can be triggered, there is a pipe that leads to a light. If you take cover on the pillar directly across from the light, and look at the bottom of the pipe, there is a part where you can see through. You can only see some blue rectangles though...

All ive come up with, is you must wait out a round so you have nades. dont pull the ball in the hole. on the second round put the ball in the hole watch the rat go into the corner dont kill him, then pick up frags and throw them at the rat. im stuck from there.

Few things what i could do. First don't kill the rat when it comes out, let it go to the bush. Then take boomshot and shoot the rat, blood will come to your screen and you will hear some cliking sound, like door oppening. Other thing, when you are killed the rat take a flamegrenade and throw it to the X on the wall, not too far or close and it should make like straight line on the floor.

Hi. I have been viewing other videos on this easter egg. Each person has there own theory... Well i think it is a good idea to get an image of the map and mark up each X and also look at the hints around the map. The easter egg clues are wrote down on the map as its loading. So, get a screen shot and mark down each clue and what it is. Yes i know some are hard to read, but just interpret the ones which are... Hopefully you'll find each step and dont give up on it. Me and my buddies found all three knives, first knife is in the shower, second knife is in the left corner of the fence where you deposit the thrashball, and the third is jammed into one of the cells keyholes on the left side of the death row side of the map near the sealed off door with a blood "X". Still nothing though.

Dude. I figured out that when you throw the incedinaries at the bush near it's spawn, it makes a fire arrow pointing at an x you missed. Dead ass so you should do it again and then you throw the incedinary somewhere near that x. I watched alot of these videos trying to find out what to do so respond if something happens
When you walk near ("Near" as in right up to it) the doors with the X's on them you may hear a strange noise, but it doesn't happen the first time, or every time. So you may have to walk up to it repeatedly.

Not sure if this is a graphical issue, but me and my friend both saw this when we discovered it. The X's on the walls / doors, seem to disappear the further you are away from them, not sure if its a clue, but try it out

i think i got it figured out. its kinda like the green mile. like when the guy steps on the mouse in the movie maybe you have to step on the rat and then get the boomshot and shoot the places marked with the X. i recall the very first time you meet boomers in gears one they step on a rat so that's probably what you have to do to the rat.
After playing with this easter egg, I've found a few interesting things. First, there are what look like bloody wretch tracks in four different locations on the map: the showers, the laundry, a drain, and in front of one of the "X" doors. These may be something. Also, if you look at the map of the level, there is writing about a plan to escape The Slab, all of which also relate to the wretch track locations. Hope this helps somebody figure the rest out.

I haven't actually played around with this easter egg yet, but one thing that immediately jumps to mind: this easter egg, and in fact the DLC itself seems to relate to Gears 1. Epic also thought to include a gears 1 style marcus in the the character set. Since this easter egg relates to both marcus and gears 1, maybe using classic marcus will help things along. It wouldnt hurt to use him anyway...

I heard that there is "three" knives scattered arond the slab, one is in the shower of course, another is by death row in the corner, and the last one i think is in the laundry room.
If you look closely you can see signs on the floor. One of them is in the shape of a rat head. Ecspecially when you're in the Laundry room. (on both sides, not in the middle) Just follow the right pad when you spawn at the exercise yard and look for clues on the floor. Don't know if this might help.
here is what i think, since the dlc is named fenix rising i think you have to get the electricity up by luring the lightning to the two pillars outside where you found the ball earlier somehow once you have done that the guy in the chair ( who people say its marcus) will rise and thats why they named the dlc fenix rising maybe

Me and my buddies found all three knives, first knife is in the shower, second knife is in the left corner of the fence where you deposit the thrashball, and the third is jammed into one of the cells keyholes on the left side of the death row side of the map near the sealed off door with a blood "X". Still nothing though.

maybe the rat is just a distraction, and the laugh is mocking you. maybe you have to roll the thrashball over the drain or through a nade in the laundry?

Dude. I figured out that when you throw the incedinaries at the bush near it's spawn, it makes a fire arrow pointing at an x you missed. Dead ass so you should do it again and then you throw the incedinary somewhere near that x. I watched alot of these videos trying to find out what to do so respond if something happens

When you walk near ("Near" as in right up to it) the doors with the X's on them you may hear a strange noise, but it doesn't happen the first time, or every time. So you may have to walk up to it repeatedly.
I hope this, at least, helps a little.

Not sure if this is a graphical issue, but me and my friend both saw this when we discovered it. The X's on the walls / doors, seem to disappear the further you are away from them, not sure if its a clue, but try it out

i think i got it figured out. its kinda like the green mile. like when the guy steps on the mouse in the movie maybe you have to step on the rat and then get the boomshot and shoot the places marked with the X. i recall the very first time you meet boomers in gears one they step on a rat so that's probably what you have to do to the rat.

After playing with this easter egg, I've found a few interesting things. First, there are what look like bloody wretch tracks in four different locations on the map: the showers, the laundry, a drain, and in front of one of the "X" doors. These may be something. Also, if you look at the map of the level, there is writing about a plan to escape The Slab, all of which also relate to the wretch track locations. Hope this helps somebody figure the rest out.

I haven't actually played around with this easter egg yet, but one thing that immediately jumps to mind: this easter egg, and in fact the DLC itself seems to relate to Gears 1. Epic also thought to include a gears 1 style marcus in the the character set. Since this easter egg relates to both marcus and gears 1, maybe using classic marcus will help things along. It wouldnt hurt to use him anyway...

If you look closely you can see signs on the floor. One of them is in the shape of a rat head. Ecspecially when you're in the Laundry room. (on both sides, not in the middle) Just follow the right pad when you spawn at the exercise yard and look for clues on the floor. Don't know if this might help.

here is what i think, since the dlc is named fenix rising i think you have to get the electricity up by luring the lightning to the two pillars outside where you found the ball earlier somehow once you have done that the guy in the chair ( who people say its marcus) will rise and thats why they named the dlc fenix rising maybe
