  • One of rock's greatest voices - Layne Staley. R.I.P.

  • Alice and Chains and Nirvana were both the greatest unplugged performances ever.

  • @bs354207 pearl jam and stone temple pilots as well.

  • I remember when I was 3, and every now and then the band would come over, they were cool.

  • @SeamusPlox yeah i bet

  • @raider999444

    Don't hate bro. Blocked

  • @SeamusPlox Come over where?

  • @64804jonjon

To my house yeaaaarrrs ago, they'd come over and jam with my dad. :L

  • @SeamusPlox Thats awesome man! Your dad is freakin cool :)

  • @64804jonjon

He was in a band as well, they were called Mansun. (: And thank you!

  • Serbia loves you!!

  • man.....this fuckin' song. is. amazing.

  • Whenever I watch this I can feel Layne's pain. I hurt with him. Rest in peace.

  • when he's singing notes at after 1:55 layne kinda looks like a really sad stray dog... horribly said but i mean it in a really nice and endearing way

  • what's there not to love about this song.6 dislikes really?wtf?is wrong with people

  • My cousin, (while listening to another song) "You know this song is about heroin addiction, right?"

Me, "aren't all of the best songs?"

this is all the proof i need to show that i was right.

  • Layne Staley, the man with a heart made of gold... I really miss this dude... R.I.P man!

  • simply amazing. fuck heroin man, took a great one in layne yet helped create some of the best music in history. damn.

  • \m/ awesome\m/

  • Jerry looks like Dave Mustaine

  • @MrTanley99 I'd say Mustaine looks more "ruff around the edges" but I see the resemblance somewhat

  • #1 song of all time. Epic perfect!

  • It is a shame I was 6 when this happenend

  • R.I.P Layne, never forgotten buddy.

  • I've always been a huge fan of Alice In Chains and it breaks my fucking heart to listen to Layne sing this. I get that sinking feeling and lump in my throat just listening to the haunting words, that now seem like his life. May you be at peace Layne. This world is not the same without you.

  • I feel that R.I.P. Layne

  • Was part of this scene. The misuse of drugs kills people. I was lucky enough to have friends surrounding me who would never let me use H in a vein like they did. Many do not know that H is inhaled by the majority of users, one dose is the size of 3 little black pepper flakes, the problem comes, when the soul is lost, and a dime size is melted down, and flooded through a vein. Layne was lost, but his soul and music will never perish and he will never be forgotten.

  • i die everytime i listen to this

  • @SebaChannel just like Layne.

  • the greatest unplugged ever!!!!!!!

  • probably the most honest and truly beautiful song in the history of music

  • man i could tell hes dead inside

  • This performance is so tight. The bass reverberates in my soul. I can't even fathom what it was like to sit in that audience. Absolutely sublime.

  • Best bass...

  • One of the best & more unique voice we had the chance to ear !!

  • And you know, watching the guy, he just makes it look so effortless. You'd almost expect the sound to be playing from somewhere else with how little he even moves his lips.

  • I still think that this one worked the best in this setting than any of the other tunes did. It just hits you in your soul with the more somber attitude.

  • ty alice in chains for all ur song's

  • with candels more drama ;)

  • Thank you so much for serving, Walrus. Keep this song and all other great songs close to your heart.

  • This is the theme song for my deployment.

  • does anybody think layne just wanted people to feel sorry for him? this song sounds like a cry for help but its been said that he pushed everyone away who tried to help him

  • @Pedaissance That, or maybe he didnt' want to burden others with his problems, but needed some escape, that escape being music? Dick.

  • @TheSicknessIsTheCure bro, he pushed away mike starr and his friends who wanted to help him. told him if he called 911 that he'd never talk to him again

  • @TheSicknessIsTheCure and im sure a problem this severe, he wouldnt worry about "being a burden to others". if u need help, u need help

  • @Pedaissance You'd be surprised...

  • @Pedaissance Actually, I think it is the other way around. "We chase misprinted lies........my privacy is raped......if I can't be my own, I'd feel better dead." All the lies in the media, all the invasion of privacy....none of it was done to help him. It was done to sell a story. Everyone knew about his problem and he had to fight his battle all alone.

  • @solomon8833 what he meant by chasing misprinted lies is that its not all grand being famous and a "rock star". he couldnt have gotten depressed over the media cause EVERYBODY knows the media is there to sell stories, not to help anybody. he pushed away his friends like Starr. thats why im confused why he cries for help but pushes away his friends

  • This song is hauntingly beautiful. To know there was no hope for him and many others like him, it saddens me immensely. Rip Layne

  • i don't know why, but this is the song that i want to hear when i'm dying...

  • Layne was incredible... still miss him

  • days without a day lost ... Poland listen;)

  • check out junkhead.

  • nothing like the original. layne's voice. nothing more.

  • best song ever!!!!

  • I made a video of it..i did go a lil fast but ill make a slower one soon...love tis song..its really sad, pretty, emotional really..made me cry the first time i heard it..

  • one of my favs!!!!!!!

  • This song is fucking beautiful. I can't stop listening to it...

  • im gonna use this song to to say RIP Whitney i'm an addict Layne and Whitney we're all addicts and I really wish she didn't die from her addiction but i'm sure she did either way RIP 2 of my favorite artist :(

  • great song from a great band r.i.p. layne your memory lives on with your music <3

  • Hmmm. So if Alice in chains does an unplugged album, can other artists of today do that too? Na, they'd be screwed without their autotune.

  • shit,this song bring some sad memories!What a talent!

  • @iruvni for some ppl thats what it takes keep on keeping on bro

  • how Layne died?

  • @nimakoulas Overdose of Heroin and Crack(Speedball).

  • @ThEmB0nEz why did he have to die?????oh shit!it is smthing like suicide or by mistake???

  • @nimakoulas by suicide

  • @MrDaleavila there was any reason that he did it?

  • @MrDaleavila overdose is not a suicide. ok, it is, but not directly!

  • He was one of the best of his time !

R.I.P. Layne, now your wings are no longer denied !

  • even at his lowest, he sings better than most people. he truly had talent and uniqueness.

  • this song is like Nutshell for me...one girl distance friend of mine couldn't take it-so she put some Real poison into H...Last Hot FIX...a she even got money, job, family, pharmacy school and her mother own's a drug-store---just a story...Burroughs described Apomorphine as a Real Cure-but also a drug's big buisness and bio$experiments-junkies are always OutSide and Alone-you can use drugs without hurting y'rself or others-but hey this is HolyWood-a little Action-another sad story- for someone OUT

  • No one is wondering why he was addicted ... I saw on another video "so talented, yet so empty" ... he was a great talent ... but missunderstood you can call him that kind of "missunderstood artist" ... it's hard to feel happy when you're soul has scars form the past .. Music was the only thing that helped him till it wasn't enough ... R.I.P. our friend !!

  • I love Alice in Chains! I struggled with heroin addiction, and use to listen to this song withdrawing.. brought tears to my eyes. All their songs are raw, bring out a lot of emotion.

  • still gives me chills..'' ooohh ooooh....'' and tears roll down my eyes!!

  • Man Layne looks like a ghost when he walks out

  • Who would dislike this? I think that option should be removed. Leave that for the dumb videos some people post. This song is legendary!

  • Man....I listen to this all the time and just have to be thankful Layne was here to do his thing, if only for a short moment in time.

    Rock On, All You Rockers!

  • it must have been nice for layne. there are some people that no one wants to help.

  • this unplugged concert and the mad season live at the moore concerts were the best man layne looked like death on the song i dont know anything but as always he killed it atleast to me

  • Dare I say, the unplugged concert was layne's best performance ever. So much emotion in every word, perfection.

  • 1996

  • What year was this made?

  • such a great tune, so, so great. Lost a truly great person from the band and from the world. R.I.P. Layne.

  • ¿Su novia estaba muerta aqui? se le ve tan triste..

  • sometimes i just need to hear this song.

  • me too!

  • "And yet I find

    Repeating in my head

If I can't be my own

I'd feel better dead" - Layne Staley

    R.I.P

  • i was addicted as well. the pain and suffering is unimaginable, this song clearly portrays the struggle, emptiness, sickness, and regret of us who decide to take a step down the wrong path, this is 10,000% the full true feeling for me of the battle all alone...makes my stomach turn to hear the exact feelings of layne through music. this song is ominously perfect,

Sorry that this was your life summed up in a nutshell layne... you will live on forever

  • "Friends don't let friends get haircuts" - that's tellin' Lars and Kirk!

  • i could not near imagine what herion addiction was like Layne, but u really do have the vocals on an angel. I will miss you for ever, as will millions of others

  • I just cant get enough!

  • Where have all the good ones gone????????????

  • love alice in chains such good sound and vocals

  • Man that bass sounds so freakin awesome!

  • @TheMeangreendean too bad it wasnt mike starr there with them.

  • @MrTjh196 RIP Mike

  • Layne was beautiful.

  • Damnit Layne...why wouldn't you let anyone help you?

  • @capnkdawg really? he went to rehab 13 times... do you have any idea the mind blowing power an opiate addiction has on a person? obviously not...

  • @69CRUZR i feel ya!! been addicted to opiates 4 10 years now. just startin' to kick it!!! I'm 33..... Hardest thing i've ever done...........BAR NONE!!!!!

  • @AndyCapp345 keep it up man, break that shit,i use this song for inspiration, giving up that sweet sweet brown sugar is like selling youre soul to the devil to the point where you could cap yourself and not give a flying F, and eventually you will step over that hump and live a normal life if thats what you truely pursue, I thank layne for this song, so sad what happened to him but id be in the same place he is if i never heard this song.

  • @69CRUZR Asshole...I myself know what it's like to be an addict...I know what it's like...people that do that shit ruin themselves, and if you refuse to let people help you then it's your fault

  • @capnkdawg Seriously, I've been there, I'm 3 months clean and on the MMT program. (Methadone Maitenence Program). In order to be sober you gotta truly want it. It's the only time someone can be saved and will let other people help them. I learned about the MMT program and never looked back. I changed my number, and even went as far as MOVING to a new place so no one I used to know could reach me, and they wouldn't know where I lived either so the dealers I knew couldn't contact me.

  • @jakesmommy09 That's really good for you. Addiction is difficult to overcome...I was able to get ahold of it before it completely took over

  • @capnkdawg Thank you, very much. And you're right, addiction is a beast. And not many people are able to stop it or fight it, but it's good that you stopped it before it was too late for you. Good stuff, I'm glad you were able to do that before it was too late. And the fact that you did do it before it was too late, says a lot about your character and intelligence. You're a very smart person for doing so.

  • @jakesmommy09 I'm not that smart lol but thanks for the compliment. Glad to know you're doing well also.

  • @capnkdawg

    Maybe nobody could help him.

Layne you are truly missed, everyday, every single fucking day.

  • @DarkNagell Anyone who wants to be helped can be helped

  • @capnkdawg

I don't know. In some situations even if you want to be helped it's difficult. I'm telling you this based on my personal experience.

    But we'll never know...

  • @DarkNagell The night before Layne died, Mike Starr was going to call 911 because he looked so bad, and Layne yelled at him and threatened to end their friendship and made Mike leave his some...He DID NOT allow anyone to help him

  • Comment removed

  • @capnkdawg ok you know there's no reason to act like that. Just calm down, enjoy the music and remember him as you want to remember him ok?

  • @capnkdawg cause nobody could !!!! u prob wont understand!!

  • @morphine2002 I won't understand? I was an addict...I know what he went through first hand.....I'm sorry, Layne did it to himself...noone could because HE WOULDN'T LET THEM

  • @capnkdawg so you think its all about an addiction ? or kicking an addiction ?

    nevermind u WONT UNDERSTAND !

  • @morphine2002 I don't think it's all about an "addiction" I know he had problems...but ANYONE can deal with their problems differently...Layne wouldn't let anyone help...simple as that. I understand what it's like to be sucked into that kind of shit and I know what problems are...I allowed people too help, and I'm clean and healthy

  • @capnkdawg you'll never understand what happened.

  • @Meshuggaaaahhhhh I'll never understand what happened? Says who? I know exactly what happened

  • @capnkdawg He pushed his friends away and did heroin. He told his friends that if they tried to help him he'd kill himself.

  • @S190K My point exactly...he wouldn't let anyone help him

  • @Meshuggaaaahhhhh sorry. I'll never understand what happened. I lost my voice a few nights ago bellowing the lyrics to this song. This music has enhanced the lives of so many.

  • One of the best in the history of MANKIND!

  • layne's voice makes me weak in the knees!! how I <3 him

  • i have the original dvd of this gig and thats the best thing live gig video i own. alice in chains damn..this was so stirring to watch the first time, and next, and then some and again and again and now again

  • I really hate those "X amount of people who dislike" comments... It´s like "People does`nt have an opinion" Those are the same guys that go out pouting "FUCK SOPA" and then bam "X people are or should Y", they like to pray and preach with their cocks in their hands... Douchebags...

  • @gabrieltrash i didnt get that.

  • @1Sifting In one word... Hypocrisy...

  • 4 people should die

  • man , this guy can teach us a lot. talk about someome dying inside. this shizinit is deep.

  • that would have been awesome if he was tan again and had his hair slicked back, wore a white shirt with some ripped up tight jeans. and had his shades. but he still looks cool in this performance yet really worn out and sick looking....its sad :(

  • Layne for some reason mispellings are not tolerated. LOL

  • I can't seem to find anything but green in the like bar..

  • Saw them only once at Lollapallooza in Orlando he jumped into the crowd such a free soul he was. Love you Lane!

  • @TheBocaScott Layne.....

  • Really aweome!!!!

  • Awesome...I saw Alice In Chains in 1990 when they were touring for the Facelift album...They opened for Anthrax,Megadeth, and Slayer on the Clash Of The Titans tour....One of the best shows ever.....R.I.P. Layne R.I.P. Mike

  • If killing my self would get layne back i would, god damm i miss him so much :(

  • i feel quite lucky to have seen them when i was 20, the down side of that is i was a complete moron at that age and got shitfaced before the gig and now cant remember most of it :(

  • bass line rules

  • obtruse*

  • its very very sad to see such excellent, flawless talent of a human being pass so soon.... very sad.

  • song almost makes me cry everytime i listen to it too much i can relate to in this song if i can be my own id be better dead

  • Best band evr

  • Deep and Powerful...and MISSED!!!!!!!

  • and yet I find, and yet i find... repeating in my mind....

  • great.thank you.
