greetings!i personally think it´s not a good idea to promote the origin of some cultural phenomena of other countries.unless you exactly studdied about the historical evidence.in europe for ex. there are many sorts of beer in every country and ppl accept guiness is irish, becks is german, etc.the exact origin of seaweed culture betw.japan+korea which is developed only in both countries is still unknown.some studies, japan discovered seaweedculture through their frequent invasions in korea!thanks
I always order specialty kimpap. What i mean is i never buy the basic rolls that are prepared. Once i got very sick because of eating the prepared ones and they must have been sitting out some time.
People, best ot order tuna or beef or whatever specialty kimpap and avoid food poisoning. It's a buck or two more but at least you won't spend the next day shitting through the eye of a needle.
400 calories?!?! Yikes...no bueno when paired with other dishes. Hrrmmm, makes a lot of sense about my waistline now. :-) So good to see you and the old stomping grounds!
I saw a show about this the other day on pbs. They went all over South Korea discussing different foods. All I could think the whole time watching it was "Steve ate that in a video!"
It has many korean ingriendents-also different types of kimbap.
My favorite one is chamchi kimbap.
It has tuna, spinnach, egg, and mayo and others(of course rice and gim(seeweed but korean gim stastes really good that tourist from japan and china buy this food a lot)
Gimbab is the first thing I ate when I went to Seoul :P I loved it ^^ Actually, I prefer the gimbab since is have more of a meal feel to it, And that most of recipes uses sesame oil (<3) Aaaaah wanna go back!!
mm.. to be honest i work in a sushi bar so i dont eat them often i had an overdose of it lol.. but when i do make some at home i love bbq chicken whit avocado siracha sauce and spicy mayo and crunched fried wonton
Now I finally know what gimbap is. May I ask what kind of oil and rice are typically used? And should I expect required expertise for rolling it? Certainly looks like a nice treat =)
@MGSGeneral and always use short grain sticky rice (aka sushi rice). it's Korea's main staple rice. if not sticky, the whole thing will never stick together
you made your 'food lover' fun really happi with this video!! I wish i knew this restourant before this summer! next time ill go there... looks great!
Too bad, I forgot to tell you about Sushiritto when you were in San Francisco. They make sushi rolls as big as Mexican burrittos; various flavor/ingredient combinations. Next time through, think: Sushiritto.
I can eat a TON of those big rolls (like 6 to 8 of them) but if it's sliced into multiple pieces I find that I can only eat about 2 full rolls maximum... -_-
Watching this made me crave for kimbap :/
