  • what's the soundtrack to this?

  • @iximoneyixi3 hey you..... lemme borrow your dad's Saab.

  • real hip guys

  • OOOOO wow. how subversive! Grow up. Or, venture away from areas where people drive saabs and shop at whole foods.

  • OOOOO wow. how subversive! Grow up.

  • @123thecos hey you..... shut up

  • You're kind of forgetting that advertisements like that are usually illegal.

It's not like it's against the law to advertise before a video on youtube.

    obviously

  • hmm, 10 second ads on an anti-advertising video? ironic.

  • If you are against advertising, why did you VOLUNTARILY opt-in to have ads all over your video? I know for a fact that that is a voluntary option that YouTube offers, and you bought into it. Kind of makes your whole point moot... :-/

  • -_- this video is prefaced by an advertisement

  • What song is this?

  • great job.

great idea of combating the problem too without destruction of property.

  • wearing a hoodie to put up the signs? That's kinda chicken. Like the guy that wore a orange safety vest tho!

  • FUCKIN SICK............ MUCH LOVE

  • is this ratatat?

  • yes

  • I believe it is earthstrum

  • me gusta

  • @hybridchemistry: it's "el pico" by ratatat.

  • lol they advertise about an anti advertising company at the end

  • Sorry if this was posted before, anyone know the song that's played in the background of this video? thanks

  • it's by Ratatat... I forget the song name though ha

  • nice very nice work

  • the chap walking away with the I ♥ NY bag seals it all up quite swell/// /

  • a peice of black cardboard iznt graffiti

  • @ reallyCHAT

It's a statement about advertising, think.

  • Nice.

    Keep spreading the word...

  • Good video (5), to bad CBS Advertising is placing such advertising screens in the Netherlands too.

  • What's the music ???

  • What's the song?????

  • Ratatat- El Pico

  • Advertising subsidizes life? Really? Makes things affordable and "more fantastic" -- HA!

I see lot's of problems with you theories, but let me just ask one question (since you're smarter than the rest of us): When you shell out $3.00 for a red bull, do you think that mostly covers the sugar water or the ad campaign?

For your sake, I hope you're a shill working for an advertising company... otherwise you might just be a total idjit.

  • Why do you have to be so negative about everything? I know advertising can be annoying, but take something like the media, where it definitly makes things much cheaper. Many websites run off advertising intakes alone which means we get a free service, and a huge proportion of newspapers' turnover is from advertising so its cheaper. I don't understand how people can be ahppy if theyre so negative about the society in which we live; I may be an ignorant "idgit", but at least I'm happy.

  • I'm no expert, but from what i've seen of the world, generally 'cheaper' happiness comes from the distributed misery of others.

Yes I agree there is some gratification having lots of things and living comfortably - cheaply. But you realise there are probably 10 people who are kept in poverty to maintain your higher standard? Its often not up to us to make these decisions, we're just born into the system, but be aware that your quality of life, and choices can often effect others in unseen ways.

  • Actaully you have to understand graffiti modern graffiti culture. Graffiti(and by graffiti I'm referring to the subculture, not random scribblings or gang markings) is basically the art of self-promotion. The point of graffiti, from the tag to the wall mural, is basically to gain some sort of recognition.

The point of this is to show how while one thing is vilified and the other is accepted, advertising and graffiti is one in the same. The only difference is one is paid for.

  • Yeah you're right; that's a really good point. I just think it's portraying advertising as completely negative and I don't think that's true. Thanks though.

  • It's a very interesting point, but Graffiti as a whole, may be made up of various brands and self-promotion, as you say, but It's not designed to make you feel inadequate in any way, or any less of a being if you can't afford to buy it, as advertising does. The reason being, it's not trying to sell you anything. It's giving to you; the viewer.

  • Modern culture is suicide on a mass scale. For one step forward, there are 10 steps back. To maintain 'sanity' people just feel thankful for the 1 step, and ignore the 10 backwards. So many stand against this malfunctioning culture because it threatens there life, liberty and property, and because it damages the world and all its inhabitants.

Its not smart to stand against your own destruction, its common sense.

I understand thats OTT for this ad/graffiti thing but you said "modern culture"

  • p.s. How many adverts have you seen lately that were'nt "pretentious bullshit"?

    :P

  • This is why economics should be a required course.

  • shits dope

  • Good job guys!

  • nice idea.. very original.. keep up the good work

  • I have never thought of it that way. This is really an eye-opener. Thanks!

    I like the music too.

    5.

  • good job.

  • I like it, how many of these went up?

  • Graffiti - Advertising, both invasive of our space whether we want it or not - in different corners yet flying the same flag.

luckily most of us just consider it background noise (ok an unwanted brightly coloured flashing one at that) and walk past but i like what the AAA and GRL are getting at.

  • Wow. Don't know whether to agree or not but it is some food for thought.

  • Its an interesting idea, but what is the point here exactly? Advertising keeps our economy going, and its unfortunate that it has to, but that's capitalism. I'm all for keeping the establishment in check, and we really should buy less junk, but this doesn't seem so well thought out.

  • would you rather look at artwork or watch tv commercials while you take a stroll in your community?

  • i never said that.

  • is the misic ratatat?

  • oh yes

  • \/ fuck you

if you had the slightest idea what this was for earwax or why they are doing this you wouldnt being saying that bullshit

  • And perhaps if you WERE an ad agency, someone would've caught the mis-spelling of your url there at the end, guys.

  • Regarding the hipocricy of an anti-advertising agency advertising for itself, I totally agree, it should not, because it is not really the way it can make a statement, the thing that they do in the field is the real statement, but still, this video can be a good inspiration for others. I am inspired!

  • cool vid and nice idea but whats the song??

  • I would much rather see a piece of graf than a billboard trying to tell you what to think.

  • amazing :)

  • bardzo fajny pomysł. fajnie to wszystko wyglada

  • i think this a super duper vid. keep it up guys!

  • I love this! It looks great and it has a message that I can fully support. I don't get the point of advertising anyway, sure doesn't work on me... *must* *buy* *stuff* *I* *don't* *need*

To the people who say this video is advertisement too: In a way, yes - the same way like when you are searching something in a catalogue. It's not forced on you like on billboards etc - you chose to watch this.

  • the song is El Pico by Ratatat.

  • nice idea.. very origional.. keep up the good work

  • this is pretty hypocritical for Anti-Advertising Agency to make a video that advertises the agency. this video just proves how crucial advertisments are to a companies survival, almost no one would know about Graffiti Research Lab or Anti-Advertisement Agency if it weren't for these video's that advertise what they do.

  • I can see what you mean, but compared with big companies, it's a whole different thing.

  • maybe so, but what do those large companies actualy do with all they money they make from their customers? more advertising to make more money.. they dont spend it trying to improve the world, or most dont.. At least the AAA is non profit (as far as i know). Whats wrong with trying to open your mind..

  • actually most large companies donate money to charities and a lot have started their own charity. non-profit is not a charity it means no one is at the top that collects all the profit, everyone gets a wage and the rest is spent back into the company, which will bring more profits.

There's nothing wrong with companies making money it increasing jobs, and encourages spending which in turn will increase the economy. That's capitalism, if you don't like it move to a communist country like Cuba.

  • hahaha nice

  • das spiegelt unsere verdorbene gesellschaft real wieder!

    graffiti 4 life! AZcrew....

  • grl 4 life GRAFFITI RESURCH LAB KREW

  • wats this song called?!?!

  • Howd u guys put the one up across from union sqauere usually theres like ten cops around that block

  • Revolutionofgraffiti.piczo . com

    therevolutionofgraffiti @ hotmail . co . uk

  • Great thing that's being done, but...

    "Advertising = Graffiti"

That's kinda messed up to use graffiti in such a negative light, when it's such a beautiful art.

  • There saying Graffiti is wrong and vandalism. But putting ads everywhere is OKAY.

  • rock the fuck on. fight the power.

  • you're really sticking it to the man!

  • yeah, school of rock, rocks!!!

  • good point

  • They have a tough mission to complete. Some people have goals even though it seems impossible to achieve. On the other hand, countless waste their life meaninglessly.... 100 years is too short....

  • omg its so pretty, i love it... I love ur style dude so originall...

  • seriously....who looks at ads? this is a good idea...they're sooooo anoying....some are good but the majority of them sucks balls

  • Bitplane has a point this videos existance is a contradiction to its very message...

  • Not really, i think the video is making a neutral observation. Ads are vandalism and graffiti is advertising.

  • good job man.

  • man if i see u in real life ill kick ur fuckin ass so bad ull be eatin through a straw for a week. ur probably just some little homo that sits oin his computer all day reding coments tryin to fit in cause no one likes u at school. ur fuckin gay romney27

  • uh after all that it was an advert for a website?

  • yeah. kinda ironic huh? still good video.

  • what song is this HA... it's trippy.

  • wow, ur just mad because u lost ur verginity when u wer 6 in the boyscouts.

  • yeah, i'm surprised your mother told you. even at six my dick was big.

" COME TO ME CLAYTON...I AM YOUR FATHER" oh and your mother wasn't my first. but thanks compliment.

  • nice way of putting it well done

  • oh shit 14th street

  • fuckin fuck the fuckers. Artists, keep bombing. keep taging, keep up the good work -graffiti

  • taging isn't art, unless my dog pissing on your shoe is art and if it is then your art sucks, only because pissing on your shoe has been done and it really says your a little sheep ready to jump of a bridge. stop being a follower and imagine you have some balls.

  • ur right.. taging isnt are.. tagging is jus like a signature .. jus tto get ur rep up..

  • Its still unoriginal at this point. if you cant play music, being in a punk band is so done. you need to try something else if a rep is even worth having. a rep for going around and writing your name where others have? is that all you can say? take art to the streets and shake it up, like these guys did. no one reads tags except other taggers, how hope there being read.

  • w/e noob

  • Are these beatz by RJD2?

  • this video is shit!!!! U fucking rats!!!

  • Great you guys know how to deliver a politcal statement raped in great music and an interesting video but some people might find this conteversioul because there are a few people out there that find garfitti a form of vandalism i personally don't and see it as an art form and a means of expression regardless of who is doing it ; i just wanted to bring that little peice of information to your attention.

  • yeah.. but there are some who deface buildings and school facades.. those kind of graffiti are not cool.

  • That's freekin' awesome! when those two people stopd' to look at the vid, I just enagined two of these: ** like in those truth commercials.

  • inspiring and music goes perfect with the vid

  • fuckin ill!

  • madske - deserves to be feature

  • I have to admit, I'm extremely impressed. But you should have done something that took more than just pulling it off. Something "permanent." Bashing it with a sledgehammer, paint/marking it.

    It's still great, though.

  • The fact that you did this is awesome, the fact that you mixed it with Ratatat is even better.

  • i love it... so i support! graff for life

  • Congrats on the most childish video I've seen on you tube yet. Way to show a truly naive understanding of the world you live in, and what makes it possible.

  • sweet vid

  • civil disobedience in its purest form. NO MATTER HOW OLD YOU GET NEVER LET IT GO...

  • nice video i like the idea

    -ben

  • Haha, thats the funniest thing I've ever seen. It's true too. I never thought of getting up like that.

  • thas clever mann ppl who say graf is only for walls are ignorant in thinking graffiti is pure vandalism. if you were a real writer youd know what you do is a crime but what is done makes a point.

  • oi twat hu sed about the jacket he was probs wearin it to look like sum1 fixin it or sumthin u dumb shit

  • you guys are whack

first off, noone hates the art. they get pissed becaus people write on other peoples shit

second off, half the fun of grafitti is that its illegal

third off, why dont you paint on the fuckin video screens and signs? because your to pussy and dont wanna get busted for actual graffiti.

    GAY.

  • Graffiti is meant for the fucking walls, not ELECTRONIC BILLBOARDS moron! fucking beat it! Jesus christ

  • People paint on the screens all the time, and no one pays attention to it. He's not a pussy, he's just smart you fuck'n idiot. Graffiti isn't just painting you toy.

  • soo fucking true, holy shit, get ppl to do that shit all over the place, nyc, la, like everywhere then maybe ppl will get it

  • i searched graffiti to watch it not some gay carbord thing

  • gay...

  • says so much with so little.

  • haha, when he puts up "graffiti" hes wearing a safety orange jacket.

  • Hell yea, good for you guys!!!!

    GRAFFITI=ART

  • It's pretty obvious: Do you want to see a beautiful painting in your city, or a lot of posters and other bullshit all around?

  • Ratatat - El Pico go download it u dickheads

  • what is this song called?

  • It's something by Ratatat.

  • what is the name of the song?

  • Nah they did the right thing Rusty. Cause if they stenciled that they would be in DEEP doo-doo... They would have been found oh you BET they would have. I like that though. It's funny. They came after graff artist real hard in NYC and now the ad agencies use our techniques. Who are bigger taggers than them?

  • Any graf artist is a bigger tagger then the ad agencies, since ad agencies don't go around with a marker writing a company name everywhere.

  • but hey do like to sneek into your mind with shit which no one cares about..

graffiti has been around since cave men..

just because they did not have montana cans does not mean the could not write on a wall....

  • Tsk Tsk, Mathieu! You were beginning to make a lot of sense until, "Any graf artist is a bigger tagger then the ad agencies, since ad agencies don't go around with a marker writing a company name everywhere." Let's see, my little marker in my spot locally tagging what I can vs. oh I don't know, Nike, whose tag you pay for. Yep I can see how graf artists are much bigger taggers - it's so clear now.

  • If you don't like the Nike "tag" that you pay for then don't buy Nike, No one's forcing you to buy their products. Plus there's graff artists who's tag you pay for, for instance OBEY has a clothing line

  • GOD BLESS YOU! lol this makes oo much sense and thats not sarcastic

  • although i am all for graffiti, i have to admit that this was a well said video,

  • Should have just used those as stencils...

  • this is pussy, buy a can of spray paint. those were most likely taken down like an hour after
