  • Very cool

  • is a house like thise good or bad and is it safe and energy efficiant plus very cheap to buy on a fixed income with very bad credit?

  • We wondered for a long time what this person was building on our road it is this

it is long not wide with tons of windows

  • i love the idea of building homes with innovation, and these people do good work, but he keeps referring to his homes as 'this guy' --

    IRRITATING!

  • how much are these houses?

  • I'd like more info..price per foot ? I'd like to build as close to a regular looking traditional home using shipping containers..3000 ft. NE USA

  • People who think this is not the future should be riding Ford T's and not using computers and cell phones

  • @cquerales I manufactured these container type housing appications in Africa and it definitly going to get bigger faster than we know :)

  • The containers are fine for me, but where can they be accepted?

I'd like to place one on a Florida lot. Can anyone help? Are they considered modular? What do they mean, "no permit req"?

  • I like how this poster removed my negative comment ,That's only becuase it rang with a great deal of truth ... They will never make just becuase .... Conventional construction is so cheep their hasn't been a change., and its getting cheaper. This stuff is to constricted to personal design.... wont catch on

  • I'm sure they're built better than mine. Watch My Money Pit.

  • We can build cars that are way more complicated than homes. Why are our homes built like the 1890`s ? suppliers dropping off 2x 4`s with plumbers waiting for electricity? All homes should be like RV or truck factory built. Parts come in one door on racks. Then finished units out the back door. It is cleaner, smarter and economic not to mention green as heck.

  • @stevenapoleon I agree.

  • @stevenapoleon - Plumbers do not wait for electrical... because, plumbing goes in before electrical. i.e. It's easier to route electrical around plumbing that it is to route plumbing around electrical.

  • @nsx1com

It is not easier if some one has just used your containment that should have wires there.

but instead you get a hot pipe that will not enable cable runs.

  • @bighands69 i dont think you have ever plumbed or wired anything, its extremely easy to re route a wire instead of moving the plumbing and most houses only run 1/2 inch copper and some houses dont even run copper anymore. I think your one of the people given the chance would wirer your house with aluminum

  • @hawker800FO

To Reroute a service with current design mechanism is not easy weather it is mechanical or electrical services as no containment areas are alike.

Some containment areas are easy to access and allow for an efficient re-servicing of systems but not all are.

I am a building service technician who has progressed my studies to a PHD and I have also carried research in various fields of science and technology, and economic analysis.

  • @stevenapoleon

And just to add to what you are saying it could also be possible to change the components in these properties like changing the part in a car.

If more modern panels are developed it could be incorporated as well as fixtures.

With the application of information based sciences with definable methodology it would be possible to constantly improve modular performance as well as production performance.

meaning cheaper and more efficient systems.

  • @stevenapoleon Whether or not prefabricated homes are "green" depends on the amount of embodied energy in the materials used and the efficiency of the materials used in the structural support and finishes, as well as the efficiency of any electric heating/cooling. If for example locally sourced timber was used (which has low embodied energy) and the structure was as simple as could possibly hold up the loads, while being designed to naturally regulate it's temperate using wind and sun, all good

  • fast, cheap and good...

    great minds think alike!

i'm sold on the container house...

    Good shoe Scoot!!!!!

  • I can ship my house anywhere I wanna go vacate when I want to.

  • thats amazing.

  • I want one of these or two, or three to make my dream home.

  • Im In Awe

  • It's genius.

  • wow thats awesome- I want one.

  • This stuff is the future for sure

  • They are using large craines to heist the containers into place and they could save so much money by using a lighter piece of equipment. Those craines charge by the hour are very heavy and there is a less $ way to move containers they could construct a weinch framed system and eliminate the majority of the big cost. What I want to see is a subdivision built where a portable craine like in the shipyards can be wheeled around until all are in position.

  • This is so neat!

  • I'd like to go into this, looks awesome. What do you guys think about it?

  • 1 of many things i've learned from my architecture teacher:

"Never use the word 'cheap' in architecture when potential clients are coming in."

  • Comment removed

  • I hear ya, I also will build me a house with containers that are 9ft high. How do you plan on heating it? I was thinking to use Radiant Aqua heat with PEX tubing.

  • How is the house building going. I am curious?

  • @mentalmike99 I notice your comment is 11 months old, so how is it going?

  • @mentalmike99

    $3k for both or each?

  • ...for modern nomads

  • Is it the right answer for all situations? No, don't be crazy. The price doesn't need to come down, you just don't have to want one. I know they would love to just start rolling these out cheaper and cheaper to more and more people. Its really a great idea, but really difficult without many clients and support of people to build them. Are they made to be the cheapest thing on the market? God no. There is real garbage on the market. Quality costs money, and this is a balance.

  • 4:30 "Maybe not affordable architecture at this point"

  • Ummmmm

I know bragging about money and how much things cost or should cost for some reason give the illusion that we have it or know something about it, but ummm

I know it's fast, Im pretty certain it's good, but CHEAP

    umm, no, nada, sorry,

THESE BITCHES ARE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooo NOT CHEAP!

  • whats so not cheap? 100k-200k?

  • i look at these as 'concept' homes.

An idea that if played around with, really could be the solution to mass low cost housing.

  • Your so right ive built homes for 35 years and have seen this chit come and go Cheep its not and you dont here them shouting out numbers, I'm surprised your post is still up they removed mine

  • Basically, basically, basically...cripes, doesn't that guy know any other words?

On top of that, the Alchemy Architects website is flash only, so if you want to view it any other way, you're screwed.

This is NOT the way to impress potential customers.

  • I wish there was more affordable single person housing.

  • metolius: supposed "the single person housing" also has an option to be instantly converted into an one-bedroom apartment,or 2-bedroom,or 3-bedroom,or 4-bedroom duplex, or 5-bedroom,or 8-bedroom,etc. BY SIMPLY TURN THE KEYS OF THE DOORS BETWEEN APARTMENTS. Would you like that idea? I just have one for you,if you type in YouTube "georgewu5"I gave it a name"GREAT WALL VILLAGE" to be built over the existing millions of miles of highways to save the green space!---dancewu(dot)net

  • Please update us on this and other Shipping Container home construction. We would like to post the information on our ISBU Association website.

  • o want to buy this fucking projects where kan i find them

  • rocio romero, she is the most affordable.google her name

  • Yeah, the price of the "kit" looks cheaper than a Wee house, but total construction cost make it $120-190 per square foot. Much more than the $39,000 "kit" price.

  • forgot to read the fine print, her kits are bare bones

  • That's the nice thing about the Weehouse; the price you see listed on the website is for the complete unit (bath, kitchen, flooring, cabinets,etc.). Of course, even there you have to factor in the set-up costs.

  • Check out Adam Kalkin as well-- recycled shipping containers. Very cool, affordable, and prominently featured in the new MOMA exhibt. I kind of like the Wee houses, personally. Price wise, reasonable.

  • ...the steel house stuff happened during the industrial era (bauhaus time), very relevant to the birth of steel design. learn your design history if your going to discuss it and don't just promote new things because they go against the old.

  • Uh, and the average price is well over the present median priced U.S. home. You need to bring the price down, guys.

  • Your product would be ideal for the geographically challeged cabin site we purchased years ago, but have had difficulty landing on the "what, when, and wheres" of the deal. When I called your office, I was happy to find you had a factory in Utah. We hope to be in touch for a Wee House project for our unusual, but beautiful property. I can visualize sort of a warmer Wee House version of Philip Johnson's own New Caanan home on our site. Thanks.

  • i'm a building design student in Tasmania Australia. showed yr video and some others to our class - they loved it - we are all inspired to change the way we think about designing houses in todays climate. Made the lecturer/architect fall off his pompous pedestal - haha! Keep on prefabbing!

  • ...real architects/designers know how and when to use pre-fab.

  • hi..this video...cool...i from mexico..i like it video....!
