had studio guys playing the instruments, which pissed off Tork and Nesmith in particular. They were the

actual musicians out of the four. Jones and Dolenz were more actors than musicians. Dolenz actually

became a decent drummer after the show began. Jones was confined almost completely to vocals.

@TheMonkeesRock I watched the Monkees when I was a kid, but never really got into them. So no, I am not very knowledgeable about their music. However, from what have heard, Micky and Davy undoubtedly have the best voices. I will listen to the ones you mentioned if they are on Utube.

They certainly were good looking guys eh? Who would ever doubt the music? It really doesn't matter I guess, that the real musicians didn't look that good, because these guys sold the music, and that is what is important and you listened...and loved it. Would you have bought it if it was played by 50 year old something or anothers with big fat beer bellies? I don' t think so...unless it was a reunion concert....40 years later. - ED
