@yammyrob i use to have a punto so i reck it wud fit in the inside ov it if you speard it over the front and back seats!! and you sat on the bonnet, bt i see an M,O,T fail, and your insurance may become invailed as the little punto wud probley do around 4000mph haha,
Hi,I think they used this type of engine in the Centurion tank here in Australia back in the 60's.The Royal Australian Armor Corps used Centurions in Vietnam, and they were replaced with the Leopard 1.Hope this helps :)
Rover Meteor Mk 4B, carb fed, non-super-charged V12. 645hp/1350lb-ft tq. RR Merlin different layout & was painted black or had natural metal (alloy) finish. All Brit Army engines painted this colour.
Rolls-Royce Meteor (600hp) as used in the ww11 cromwell tank asll with a few mod's and a blower aka the merlin (1000+ depending witch version ) then came the griffon !
I think burning valves with no manifolds is an old wives' tale, if you've ever watched a cracked manifold you can still see the flames inside the exhaust. The fire just doesn't have enough time to burn in the cylinder and the rest of the combustion happens in the exhaust port. Part of the reason slow moving engines are so efficient.
cus fire will only apear when the unburned gas hits the air, thats why you need manifolds of headers to bring the reaction away from the valve. if not the fire heats up the vales witch dont normally operate with fire forming so close to them normally. but luckily he didn't run it long enough to do any damage.
wot in hell r u tokin bout boy? the valves dont normally operate so close to explosion? and thats not all your exhuast if for either. stupid boy go back to school
Sorry. You're right. I just looked again and it was a video clip of a guy in sweden who's building a hotrod with one of the same engines in. Here's another clip from that guy (test driving it): http://web.telia.com/~u13603150/V12TESTDRIVE.WMV

If it is 27 liters it is Merlin (Aircraft version) or Meteor (Tank version). The Griffon is like 35 liters..later versions of Spitfire or the P51.
I would guess that it is a Meteor = Centurion tank engine.
klorat666 2 years ago
I don't think this thing comes out of a tank. I assume it's a RR Merlin/Griffon from a spitifre or a P51. Maybe I'm wrong but I think it's a Rolls.
