irreversible: Yeah, and if we were winged fairies we could all fly to the moon.
Didn't the experience of hundreds of millions of people in the 20th century under various forms of "marxism" teach you anything? The "theory" of marxism/socialism DOES NOT WORK in real life. People like you just don't "get it"; free markets really do work.
An old saying: if assholes could fly they would blot out the sun. Well...you've got wings and it's damn dark these days.
I look at the bailout unlike most. Banks were forced by govt to make loans based on things other than value and income. GSE's feigned comforter by promising to buy the loans, bundle and defer risks and resell them. So govt propped up an ENORMOUS sector and related sectors. Banks basically got an effective lawsuit settlement for being forced by govt to fund and initiate the entire cherade. Everyone was fine with it or complicit before it went bad. People saw it coming and ignored it, voters too.
Look, if there's a problem coming or a collapse which requires the government to pay tax payers' money to institutions whichin turn charge tax payers money for goods and services... well, that's a plan which needs a name attached to it, some one to be accountable, again we don't have any one person to point to and say "They are responsable for this." CRK
You're right we dont, b/c everybody was webbed in to the thing, from builders and municipal service providers to real estate and appraisers etc. Everybody was playing the hand they were holding. It had been in motion for over a decade, by then there is no way out but eventuall failure. Politicians that blew whistles back in 04, and there were a few, bakced off b/c they had large consituencies cashing in on it all and werent in the mood to stop or slow income voluntarilly; accelerator was stuck.
Yes, LOL, however, this vid is directed at both Parties, and everyone inside the beltway and boardrooms. Senator from Maine should still serve the people of Maryland, and every other state in the union. Right and Left need an overhaul. And by the looks of the Kid's cabnit, the Dems haven't changed a lick, CRK
If you're from Baltimore I hope you've checked out HBO's series "The Wire". It's set in Baltimore and is reputed to be based in large part on real events. The best thing on TV since The Sopranos.
Crackie-- Another spot-on video. Long time no chat.
I too was dismayed by the bailout. I was in Romania at the time, and the folks over there are all wigged out about the financial thing. Yet, have no real clue what happened. For that matter, hardly anyone here does either.
One thing for sure, don't mention "socialism" to ex-Iron Curtain people.
Sure wish we could order a stop payment on that $700 billion check.
Hey Roger, As to that check you and I both know we can cancel it anytime. It is our money after all.
What bugs me most, is my own lack of faith in any of my elected officials or the system they created. Our leaders appear to be strip mining the US economy, but why?
My appologies for being out of the loop, but I had to get my head around this thing before I ran my mouth about it; still have some questions to answer, but the shock has worn off, and the wheels are again starting to spin, CRK
About our leaders... well, all I can say is, we need some actual conservatives in DC. Seems the Repubs and the Dems are a bit too cozy overall.
I never thought of McCain as a conservative, but when he brought in Palin and began the conservative rhetoric, I had a moment of hope. Then he opted for the bailout, and to blame Wall Street "greed". Suck.
This problem is a creature of Congress. In particular, Barney Frank.
It will take years to put together a cohesive, reasonable government.
Sometimes it feels like it all died wiuth Dutch. But Miutt Romney has been itching for achnace to prove himself, well, here ya go Mitt. What we need is a leader with a plan beyond hooking up his hommies. It's skirting toward ridiculous, CRK

If the United States was a socilaist nation there wouldn't be a ruling class to abuse the "litte guy".

And if it were truly a capitalist country, the government wouldn't be bailing out Bankers, with taxpayer dollars. CRK
