CKLN RIP...I was music director there in 1977-79. From a Classic Rock perspective, I interviewed David Clayton Thomas, Kelly Jay of Crowbar, The Vibrators from England, and everyone who landed in downtown Toronto to play would drop by.
My question is and with all the great minds at Ryerson who was minding the business. Like driving, a broadcast license is a privilege and must be attended to. It's really a shame there was no room for cleaning up their act. A lot of us would have liked to help.
Ron Nelson's show was the only way that I could hear hip-hop in the suburbs in the late 80s. Along with the other shows on CKLN, it let me know that there was more out there than Top 40.
@steeltownbrown52 Actually scratch that, CKLN is now internet radio only. So they're not gone but Mix Tape Massacre is? It's just sad that such a legendary hip hop time-slot gave up cause CKLN isn't frequency radio anymore. With Real Frequency and Mix Tape Massacre straight quitting, a big part of Toronto hip hop has died.

I GREW UP listening to the PowerMove show. Its a sad day for Hip Hop in Toronto.
CKLN was the reason I chose Ryerson for my education. I wanted to be at the heart of the city, the heart of Hip Hop in Toronto.
I will forever be indebted to all of you guys - especially Ron Nelson and Dj X for the memories and the music.
I still have tapes of entire shows somewhere. I have to find them now.
