  • For Renildes Miranda I still love you! Is it a crime?

  • No matter what song, Basia is GREAT!

  • An upbeat version of the Aretha Franklin classic.

  • I love this song it takes me back in time to my 1st husband Louie who died in a car crash but my Love still grows for him and his 5 children Live life Lou in Christ forever more Love Karen your wife

  • @Jesus52285 That was sweet. I'm sorry for your loss. You have something that I've never had.

  • @Jesus52285 As long as you have love in your heart you will have love in your life . May the beauty of life gladden your spirit all the days of your life . adios friend

  • I absolutely love this song by Basia. I think she is such a cute hottie in every scene of his video. She knows how to groove. Plus, my Mom is 100 percent Polish, so I've gotta love this Polish babe.

  • I saw her live back around 89, she has an incredible voice. I was amazed by her range.

  • WE WENT TO SCHOOL TOGETHER,...SHE'S FROM TEXAS.

  • @1chichimec1 Basia is Polish. She was in Chicago for a very short while before moving to London.

  • @1chichimec1 What school ? It had to be high school because she's from Poland . She speaks perfect english and polish .

  • Been a Basia fan for a long time. Even got my husband to enjoy the music and he hates everything. Great road trip music!

  • I want to Thank my Aunt for introducing me to Basia's music before departing this earth.

    RIP Patricia

  • SHE LOOKS SOO BEAUTIFUL!

  • i get to see her in two weeks in vegas!!!! yayaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!! =D

  • she can rap on my door anytime

  • I MISS BASIA ... I HAVE MY LP RECORDS '' CRUISING'' SINCE EARLY 90'S NO C.D. YET fr. philippines davao city

  • opps miki howard

  • (mikki howard's the orginal, "until you come back to me") check it out .

  • Basia's cute, good-looking, she can groove, and she can get us to do it, too.

  • She is so hot and sexy, however she dont need to show naked ass and tits like now-days-so-called-stars...

  • Ms. Basia, You have the important quality in grabing those, that either watch or hear your music by the throat and say "Here I Am" You are unique.

  • Finally got to see Basia in concert last year in Dallas. She was fantastic and can still hit all the high notes. Great performer, great person. She came out backstage after the show and stayed until she met every person waiting for her, signing autographs and posing for pictures. What a nice person, no ego whatsoever.

  • I wish they would not have used such harsh lighting to minimize the size of her nose...that isnt very nice. Love her music!!!!

  • @angieawakened Not sure if that was the reason for the lighting - but that marvelous nose is part of what gives her such resonance and range. They hide it nowhere else

  • Basia is not country! I brought my children up as little kids listening to her and dancing around my living room to her. She is way better than Aretha....PLEASE, such quality and flow to all of her songs, they make you instantly calm and happy, I agree with leoray and knoxvilleguy. Been a fan for 22 years! Todays singers are garbage compared to her!

  • @shav12 - Right On !! She put her on springy spin on an Aretha Franklin classic. Other " NEW " stuff = dreck. Take that, Lady Gaga & " Justin Beaver " & the entire cast of " GLEE ".

  • once you hear her voice, you'll know its BASIA whose singing. its a trademark.

  • Amazing range, true to the melody and words. Absolutely WONDERFUL.

  • I thought idiots couldn't post stupid comments but i was wrong. It goes to show you that we live among them. Is OK if you don't a particular song or singer but it doesn't mean that you have to compare it to your self-esteem or write a book about it. I do like the song and that's it.

  • I often wish stars like this could just stay young and beautiful.

  • Really nice Samba to dance to in the version's cut time.

    Gorgeous girl back-up singers!

  • Her music can make me feel good, even if I've had a truly CRAPPY day with a possibility of continued crappiness. She's 1 of the few people or things that can bring a smile to my kisser if / w / my day is a merde - fest.

  • @knoxvilleguy2 Hear, Hear! I agree no matter how bad my day, her voice and music always lifts my spirits. I can't stop that smile on my face even if I tried ;-)

  • @gshewitt100 - She's better than Bieber, GaGa, or most modern so - called " musicians " who give pretty soulless, superficial performances. They don't do anything substantial. I hope Basia doesn't go back into retirement. How she mixes pop, rock, jazz, etc., so seamlessly is a gift.

  • just ignore bad comments. cant please everyone

  • @pawhe That's for people who don't respect the classics.

  • I want to make her my Lady & tour with her. I am very fond of her rendition of this song. Sister has got more soul than many .

  • For some reason I find her voice kind of repulsive... maybe because of the accent... yeah it's definitely the accent that bothers me... it just sounds too poppy and jazzy for this song... and it's very nasally sometimes... yep. It's just my opinion of her I don't care if y'all like her. And I'm not really hating on her, because I'm not saying she's a bad singer, just that her version of this song and her voice don't really compliment each other.

  • @scbaldwin13 You are a poor stupid, you prefer a country music

  • @luismanuelalvarez1 Who's stupid? You can't even write a cohesive sentence. And, I absolutely hate country music; it makes me violent, in fact. I do not like her VERSION of this song. It's like a cheap knock-off of an Aretha song. It's just way too 90s to do this song any kind of justice. And if you think that since I said "y'all" that I like country music, then you are very wrongly judgmental. Okay? Thanks. Bye.

  • @scbaldwin13 You must be out of your mind or tone deaf, I like this version better than Aretha's no disrespect intended to the Queen. Her voice and the melody line are just so joyful, how can your spirit not be uplifted by her version of this song?

  • Love her! She keeps it crystal clear and real- right down to the hint of her Polish accent!

  • she was born 30 september 1954. in Poland

    nice, clean voice.

  • 0:48 this girl is gorgeous!

  • aaahh everytime i look at her and listen to her voice ....i just fall i love (c:

  • Good music, however the dancing doesn't match the song. Looks dorky.

  • I never knew the artist for this song. Wow!

  • Love Basia

What would we do without You TUBE Hooray

  • Love Basia

  • Basia turned me onto Jazz. I've never looked back. Makes you kind of wonder what they are trying to sell on the mainstream pop charts...I"m not buying it. Thank you Basia for real talent, beautiful vocals, and creative melodies.

  • Never heard of her before but, Wow! A great voice and a great performer.

  • What a great version of this song, it takes a lot of balls and talent to do really good

cover of Aretha Franklin. that touch touch of Polish Romany influence makes this

a treasure in it's own right, her backup vocals are outstanding, she is a pure natural

    singer.

  • @knoxvilleguy- Even though this vid is all lip synching, it's still cool. "Time & Tide" and "London Warsaw New York" always elevate my mood. BTW, this was shot at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle

  • ummm, she's ok...I'M NOT REALLY EMPRESSED...I remember her in the 80's...eh? Nice try at singing some of THE QUEEN's stuff...lol

  • Well done.

  • Basia is a rare gift to music. Once you listen you are a fan for life

  • @Boddissatva You are so right...my husband introduced me to her music in the mid-80's while in the navy. I've been a fan for life ! A great talend and as my husband say " a geninue natural Beauty", I must admit...I LOVE her EYES lol

  • another great performance by a truly worthy talent with a hell of a band

  • Basia's voice sounds great with any genre in the world, especially jazz!

  • I miss her terribly.

  • she exudes such wonderful energy

  • So fun, so exuberant! I love Basia's music. Thanks for posting the video - she looks like a Patrick Nagel painting come to life in this :)

  • Great cover of a Stevie Wonder song made famous by Aretha. It doesn't surpass Aretha's version (heck, even Stevie's version is second to the Queen), but its definitely a well done number in her style. You know she loved doing this because she did a remix on her Brave New World album.

  • @jimraw1 - Even she was intimidated by taking on an Arethra Franklin song, I heard, but damned if she didn't do a great job. It's still better than 9 / 10ths or more of the mindless, soulless dreck they call music now.

  • @knoxvilleguy2 I totally agree with you about Basia. She's always been kind of an odd duck musically - I'm sure the music companies didn't know what to do with her - but then that could be said about Harry Connick, Josh Groban and Michael Buble (and Russell Watson and Diana Krall, etc.) I do like this version of the song, but I always got the feeling that this was done with crossing over to the pop chart. One thing I will say is I HATE her video production companies - she deserved better.

  • @jimraw1 - Hmmm. I had this video on a dear, dead, outmoded VHS tape that she did a few years back. All I know is that this particular song, as well as her style of music ( Jazz / Adult pop ? ) is better than the kiddie crap or the Heavy Metal & Hip - Hop or the " flavor of the month " artists that get touted now as " the next big sensation ".

  • I Love My Hawaiian Musuic but Basia's Still is one of my Number One's in My Book Any day and That's a Fact!! It's not just Listening to her Music it's also watching her Sing and just enjoy the Rythym when she Move's to it. Where is a Vedio of Her Today 2010? They Got that Pazazz I Thank you (Mahalo) for your Music cause It soothes my whole body not just my min
  • simply Basia

  • Hypnotic...Just watch/listen to this one time and you hear it in your sleep and then wake with a smile. Aretha would have to smile if she was in the audience that night.

  • Great dance song

  • There are some people who just make you so glad they were born to share themselves to the world and Basia is one of 'em! This woman's voice is golden! Thanks for posting!

  • It's a good song, her voice is sweet but, Aretha's got on this one!

  • Saw her in recent interview, barely recognized her. Certainly has aged quite a bit (as we all are) although hey, it's been about 20 years, right? Nevertheless, still beautiful inside and out w/ a great voice. Still positive and upbeat. Knows how to make you feel great.

  • What a fantastic and fun song and yes she is coming back to SF in November and I will be there!

  • Had lost the tape I had and had not heard this rendition in a long time. It's perhaps my favorite. I even like this better than Aretha.

  • This is a great interpretation of this song.

  • Co. Written by Stevie Wonder!

  • Uh this is a Stevie Wonder song recorded by Aretha originally.

  • I knew that. I was referring to him writing it.

  • It was actually recorded by Stevie originally, too. About 5 or 6 years before Aretha did it. He didn't release it until much later, but it's a stunning version if i must say so myself.

  • This is the best of the best.

    WHAT A VOICE

    LL

  • Excelente cantante, alguien sabe que ha hecho actualmente???

  • Love Basia's version, very uplifting. :-)

I thought it was funny as hell !! ( your remark )

  • GREAT COVER!

  • She's from Poland, she moved to UK in 80'....so you know another "Basia" I suppose.

  • Hmmm......... have you taken your medication yet?

  • Wausau is not in TX, it's in WI & Poland

  • I soooo LOVE this woman!!

  • Yes, what a full, rich, uplifting sound :-)

  • Id love to see her in concert

  • I had the sublime pleasure of experiencing Basia and her tight band at the Waikiki Shell in Honolulu in July 1994. Her Band included the rhythm section from Incognito with of course Peter and Danny White. It was the same group that is on Live at the Beacon from NYC. Thank you Basia for your musical integrity, chops and sharing it with the world !

  • what's funny about this video is that the drums we hear are from a drum machine, yet here we see a drummer playing the real thing. LOL!!

  • jruff likes it. Love dem background girls!

  • Basia Nova?

  • 0:48 she's very nice!

  • I love this song and Basia's "Promises." I use to work at a grocery store that played these songs religiously and I never knew who she was. G-D bless youtube!

  • thanks for posting this.. love the song .. love her!! :) xo

  • I assure you.

  • I didn't realize how many hits she had. It was on your radio driving around in the summers. Sleeper.

  • She is one of the best musicians in the world.

I love every single song that she has ever done that is a very rare feat for any artist.

    Basia is cooler than cool

  • She was a doll back in 80's. I know she started out with them but is that Matt Bianco backing her?

  • Is it just me, or does her make up in this video make her look even more beautiful than she normally does? Wow!

  • wow havent heard this in ages, thanks for posting, i forgot i was in love with basia

  • she is from Poland and I'm proud of that :)

  • i'll never figure out why she's not well known.

  • kozziewozzie:

Sometimes the BEST music doesn't come from the Shakira's, Michael Jacksons, Mama Cass Elliots ( ? ) or Elvises of the world.

Consider the late Harry Chapin. He wasn't well - known, but his fans were loyal.

  • I agree with happymike44 !

& this song got me hooked on her, until I lost or misplaced a bunch of her CDs in the course of 2 moves. Bummer.

  • The classic wall of harmonies of her voice is the reson i listen to her songs-besides all the other reasons-including: She's beauyiful, classy, sofisticated, her band has soul and the funk(good the good kind)and not to mention-what amazing songs! we love her(the fans) "yah yah yah yah yah yah!!"

  • Dope bass line! Still can't figure out that guy's hat though. LOL at the guy who said she didn't have a nose.

Never grow tired of her singing and miss her glad to hear she has a new release.

The woman is simply wonderful and romatic and beautiful to boot.

The european women have class and stlye that American women could learn from.

  • Time & Tide rules!

  • FINALLY BASIA UPLOADS!
