@TRDTacoma4x4, I reckon he started out with Mongoose, back in the day. 1986 or so, that'd be - they were his BMX sponsor, and had the JT special edition... Grey beast of a thing, I used to lust after one!
Tomac using the drop bar in preparation for the transition to professional road racing... plus the Kevlar "Disc-drive" - proof that it is the rider, and not the bike.
4th place downhill - with a drop bar - hilarious blast from the past.
John T was my hero as a kid- meeting him at plymouth Uk was rad I was about 10! he had just killed it in the xc and was chilling eating a peach and I was bothering him like crazy for his autograpth haha!! That year I rode the slalom on my 'Offroad' Proflex with flexistem- the good old days!!
I know most DH courses today are alot tougher than this - but seriously doing any DH course with drop bars and riding on the lever hoods?! he must've been crazy, especially with a Tioga discdrive which disintigrate with alarming regularity.
You just dont get any better than this.. Tomac on the drops. He could have been first ever world champion ut his legendary status is even greater through his sensational riding on the drops.
No, both are riding experimental Yeti carbon frames with Manitou forks.

Check Furtardo's crash. 71 degree head angle and stupid long stem. How could you not crash those old crapper machines.

Remember seeing JT going down the pipeline at Plymouth on his bar ends. He was mental!
