  • I she saying "I wish i'd had pneumonia when you were a little younger"?

  • This song digs deep, it almost makes me cry. But I think the video banalizes too much the atmosphere it builds up, especially as the Baron wife appears.

Johnny Cash’s response to the new wave, and I love it (and I love the new wave, so this speaks volumes about Johnny).

  • well, that is the cheesiest music video ive ever seen :L but yeah its an awesome song :]

  • JOHNNY CASH. This is really extraordinary. The Baron. This was the best time of my life. very good to remember that.

  • Billy Joe: You killed my father!

The Baron: No, I am your father.

    Billy Joe: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

The Baron: But it's okay, we can be a happy family again.

  • Superb :) xxxx

  • 3:06 look how bent marty's stick is. it has scoliosis or something

  • I always thought Billy Joe was Marty Stewart. Somewhere I read no but if that's not Marty it's his twin brother.

  • Of all his songs this one's my favorite!!!

  • JOHNNY CASH MADE US CRY WITH A LOT OF HIS SONGS, BUT THIS SONG, YOU HAVE TO SING A LONG.

  • @russmanbearpig this post definitely made me laugh out loud while at work. thanks

  • Also..... gotta love the look at 0:38. No flinching.

  • The moral of the story was a little cheesy but I liked this mainly for its pool hall relatedness. Bring in the shot making stunt doubles lol!

  • Great stuff, thanks for posting friend. ps If you like these story type ballads you might also try "Slim Pickens - Desperados Waiting for a Train" Thanks again and...Cheers!

  • i dont think that the kid would have been all happy to meet his father that has not been in his life for 20 years, or the wife all happy to see him after 20 years.

  • is that kid a young marty stewart?

  • yes thats marty stuart mate type in doing my time johnny cash live at wembly and watch marty go on the guitar its awesome

  • Yes !

  • The ring in that video looks like it came from a cracker jack box.

  • i love johnny, but I bet the budget for the video was the money on the table

  • haha very true

  • wow ive heard a lot of johnny cash and never this song til tonight its freakin awesome

  • "He's now amonst the ghost riders in the sky where there is no time, and I bet Johnny still walks the line. go Johnny go!! Ken Gamache

  • The Baron!! Great song, and video. As was MOST of Johnny Cash's songs. Very few great country artists left now. In the words of George Jones, "Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes" ..... I Like <Directordude4's comment on "Rap" also.

  • Naw.. That's Marty Stuart!!! How cute!!! =)

  • I love this song and i love the clip :) I LOVE YOU JOHNNY, YOU ARE THE GREATEST <3

  • I haven't heard the song since I was in middle school. The chill I just got listening to Cash say, "The game was never finished, the 8-ball never fell" was EXACTLY the same as the chill I got as a kid listening to it for the first time.

I recognize Billy Joe as Marty Stuart.

  • johnny cash is the fuckin man

  • Delbert says damn right Jimmy! Grew up with Johnny since he was knee high.

  • what a great song and film clip Johnny Cash,THE BEST THERE WAS,THE BEST THERE IS,THE BEST THERE EVER WILL BE!

  • fuckin spot on mate

  • Favorite Cash song, i am 13 and i am using this in music class as a story song. while all the others are using "Rap" (retards attempting peotry.)

  • Right on Brother!

  • @Directordude4 Who are You? ''Retard attempting to spell POETRY''?

  • @Directordude4 If you really understood Johnny Cash you would know that he was a really open minded man and would have understood that you can like both country and rap. Listen to some of the eclectic songs he covered near the end of his career.

  • @slimebot hmmmmmm ? how to explain ? ifn you understood ANYTHING you would know that OPEN MIND means you can like country , rap ,rock ,disco or any other type of music ! but having an OPEN MIND also means you can understand when someone else DOESNT LIKE a type of music just because you do ! and some rap music is about the love of a woman , and some is about the love of POPPING A CAP IN YOUR ASS ! i really cant see JOHNNY CASH caring for the latter ! SCHOOL IS OUT !

  • Now if that aint class i dont know what the hell is.

  • damn right you are!

  • even though the song tourns out happy at the end it still makes me sad ....great song though

  • My fiance has talked about this song for 5 years and I just finally found this for him. I am happy that he could finally see it, and we know where to find it now. I would love to download it to his computer for him to keep. Is this possible? I am new to this site and know nothing about what it is or what you can do here. W are also looking for the complete movie, which we never even knew existed until tonight.

  • i like the story

  • I love this song but this video has always been horrible They just took the most literal route they could find and the acting is horrible. I am surprised this got made. But like I said the song is great and Johnny Cash rules.
