have a lot to say....about nothing. DethBones...Ha! The MagnumGuitar...real original! Playing music is all about getting pussy I guess? What, are you guys 15?? How much have you made in the last month rocking?no...how about the last year! What a bunch of dicks!!!dick smokers is more like it. I will agree the guys kinda a geek, but Im sure he's doing more then any of you fools.

  • play guitar from 10 to 2 o'clock and then bang one of those girls!

    that's what I would do =P

  • Been there LOL !!

You always are going to run into some people in the crowd who might try and throw you off. Good thing we get so use to playing the songs over and over again it just comes second nature. I remember one time I was just starting out and got lost in a song when a bar fight broke out... umm.. or did I just stop playing and RUN for my life !!!!

Now these days I stick to doing outdoor shows or family events :-)

  • Lady's man!

  • Dude, in all your videos I have gave you 5 Stars (even in this) but I almost gave you 4 Stars because you didn't f**** that girl !!!

I wold just leave my f****** guitars there and say: "hey you piano dude and bass-player mutha fu****, take care of my sh*** I'm gonna f****"

    ROFL

Just kiddin', but sure dude, you must make out sometimes with those girls

  • Very interesting, good job :)

  • Secret to Cover Band Success:

You did not write these songs. Your only job is to cover them well, not deep emotional involvement. Enjoy listening to the song as you play it as if you are one with the audience. Smile, Smile, Smile and look at your audience. Smile some more. Dance Dammit or at least move around. Someone did the hard work for you already, now your job is to have fun with the song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow. This was a really great video. This is just another example of the detailed work that Andrew puts into the making of his videos. He really puts in the effort to show us what details he can in just over 10 minutes. It does make me rethink a little about why I'm even a practicing musician. All this effort and hard painstaking practice.... so that one day I can put up with drunks in a bar? It's really about personal achievement in the end. The feeling of accomplishment.

  • Best.Video.EVER.

    LOL

  • after 39 yr.s taking shit from bar owners, and drunken assholes, shouting mustang sally, there's no money in giging for hard working musicians, where i'm from we used to play 6 nights a week for years, until kareoke, strippers, serbian bar owners, and teenagers playing for nothing, put most of the pros on the shelf, because the owners thought that if the teenage rockstars play for shit, then musicians who've played for their lively hoods should do the same, i really wish musicians all the best.

  • 7:40

  • Drunken people are easily the worst part of gigging. Had a woman pulling at my arm when i was playing solo to My Sharona. She would not leave the stage, absolutely hammered. I swear I nearly pushed her off. Also they talk to you when your singing and playing mid chorus expecting an answer. Idiots man! Good video dude! Not sure you're representative of the normal jobbing guitarist though as you don't seem to play with a regular band, but this stuff is pure gold. Loving your work!

  • Great video and very good example of what you can find out there while playing on bar.

Can you post a follow-up regarding the sound check and maybe some basics on how to equalize for a live setting ? I have played in some bars where we have to set up the PA and equalize the band ourselves...

BTW, In one of my first gigs a drunk climbed to the stage and grabbed the mic in the middle of a song. Then he fell to the ground with the mic stand and everything... that was very funny ;-)

  • you didnt take ol chic home???damn man...

  • Did you bang the drunk chicks....probably not.

  • hehe, great video. Those pissed girls were hilarious :)

Were the rest of the band ringers as well?

  • Were you dropped on your head lately?

  • vox if you play beatless... marshall is good for everything :D

  • very funny

  • That part narrating the part with the drunk girls was fuckin hilarious.

  • You can spend more on a nicer amp, and it will get stolen if your back is turned!

  • muy bueno.

    seguire algunos de los tips

  • great video...so which girl did you take home with you??? : )

  • This is a really cool video. Very nice to see some real-world advice. Very clear - hope you're getting paid well!

  • i love you sign in the background

  • That was interesting to watch. 5/5

  • Andrew,

I laughed my ass off watching this video. I certainly feel your pain.

All I can say is at least the girl's up there were attractive and flirty. You've probably played 100 times more live shows then me so you know that most of the time this isn't the case.

    Anyway, great video.

  • If you keep going through them maybe they arent that reliable.

  • you're a chick magnet Andrew

You have skills with guitar and the ladies

    lol

  • Thanks for the tips, man

  • Another excellent video, thanks.

  • Looks like a pretty good gig.

You should do a job at The Black Bear in Trenton after a pay day. It would be a good place to demonstrate self defense using headstocks and mic stands.

  • One of those girls looked like she could be classified as a butter face.

  • cool. nice gig. Canada looks a lot like Sweden from the roads.

do you bring backup guitars or a spare pack of strings?

  • Hello heminder,

No back-up guitars, but I do always pack a full set of strings to every gig!

    - Andrew

  • That was a really great video! I've seen bands, but never played a gig yet.

  • Whereabouts in Canada do you live? I was wondering because I'm in Hamilton, ON.

  • Winnipeg

  • This was really fun and educating, thank you for filming this (:

  • This was a awesome video. It was educational and funny at the same time. Why isnt school like this?

  • Hahaha the whole commentary with the girls on the stage with you was hilarious xD

  • hehm i agrre whitthe weight;) ,y ,arshal 10gx is a real killer for long distances...

  • hahah! that was hilarious when the girls started dancing on stage around you

  • lol those girls on stage were funny =]
