  • Nest version of this song ever!!!

  • isnt that picture by the dude that used to illistrate the Easyrider Magazines? I think his name is "David Mann" But that is a grab at straws in the dark!!! If I'm right please send me a message!!

  • Two young cowboys went riding out one dark and windy day Upon a ridge they rested as they went along their way When all at once a mighty herd of red eyed sheep they saw A-plowing through the ragged sky Their brands were still on fire and their hooves were made of steel His helm was black and shiny and his hot breath he could feel A bolt of fear went through him as they thundered through the sky Saw his partner coming hard and he heard his joyful cry
  • this is fucking sick.

  • Dave Mann - Easyriders Magazine

  • The original is from Vaughn Moore! But it sucks compared to this version...:)

  • I've heard this by Johnny Cash, Spiderbait, Dick Dale & now Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. All of them awesome.

  • artist of the picture is David Mann who was an amazing artist that died a cpl of years ago!

  • I like them, tho' they usually cut the songs (few verses missin') and that ain't that good. But I listen to them sometimes. Good 4 headbangin' & at least they enjoy themselves... I'd say so.

    POMY COLLINGWOOD

  • the original is from good old Johnny Cash :)

  • Wikipedia says this:

(Ghost) Riders in the Sky: A Cowboy Legend is a country and cowboy-style song. It was written on June 5, 1948 by Stan Jones.

  • ah well..then im wrong..its still a good song :P

  • Just wanted to share the knowledge :) and yes its awesome

  • @toonuraccoon written sure, but not played ;)

  • @toonuraccoon i thought it was by johnny cash?

  • @toonuraccoon

Normally a good idea is to NOT quote wikipedia because it's open to change by the public. Even though it's right in this instance, I wouldn't trust it for much else.

  • @sk8wise12 Things not true in Wikipedia? quick! to the batphone, a crime has been commited!

  • @toonuraccoon You ment: "To the Batmobil!" :-)

  • @sk8wise12 It's not worse than merely check the footnotes in the information that leads to where the information was extracted.

  • Crap I feel old. I have that Dave Mann poster from Easy Rider magazine. Probably about 1977 LOL

  • haha dude , dont feal old , im 19 n i reckn thats awsome

  • I agree, 19 and love this music, but mate, can you please learn to spell and save our generation getting much more sloppy

  • The Outlaws did this tune also.

    It's an old western song.

I believe the author is unknown.

    I could be mistaken.

  • best version :D

  • this is kool but the dave mann art is sweettt

  • dave mann art?

  • Vaughn Monroe's version is the way it was intended. Its a real cowboys song. A tale told to a young 12 year old wrangler by an old herder when they saw black skies coming( to scare him home).30 years later he remembered the tale and wrote this song.Great stuff

  • Best Versions of this song go as follows;

Blues brothers 2000 (Dan's voice is amazing in it)

    This version

Johnny Cash's version (im not all for the original)

    Spiderbait's version

    Ramrod's version

  • I love this version !!!!!!!

  • GREAT

  • Johnny Cash is the real maker of the song but im not shure if he covered it from a other band but this vergion is the best

  • The original artist to record this song was Vaughn Monroe, but most people think of Cash when they think of this song

  • wasnt there 3 or 4 singers that did it wish cash? they all took one part an sang it didnt they?

  • the first ever one recorded was by Burl Ives one month earlier than Vaughn Monroe.

  • This version is awesome. I love Me frist and the gimme gimmes. However I'm a sucker for the Blues Brothers 2000 version. Gotta love them blues brothers.

  • I like the picture. I think it was David Mann who did that.

  • it good but it goes to fast but its cool

  • there is no writer for sure this song been around for EVER no one knowws who wrote it

  • WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!?! Of course this song has a writer! Why the hell would you even post a comment like this?

It was written by Stan Jones in 1948

  • you are wrong. there is no writer for this song.

one day that Stan Jones guy was having a piss behind a tree and out from the sky falls the lyrics and tabs, he just had to learn it. so there.

  • No, Klad is right. It was written June 5, 1948 by Stan Jones while working National Park Service in Death Valley, though it's been recorded well in excess of 50 times by other artists.

Lyrics and tabs falling from the sky? Are you nuts? Why not just say God wrote the song for him?

  • lol i have know clue why, but you have to say that that would be f'n sweet lol

  • Yeah ... Just think how good the video would be too :)

  • Wow. you actually too my joke seriously ? ehehe.

I believe you, of corse I was just joking.

  • You can never be sure with some peoples 'views' on YouTube lol

  • nice i fucking love it

  • was it sengal? (it obviously wasnt! of course, I just felt like guessing

  • great cover!

  • According to wikipedia, the song seems to be by Stan Jones.. just thought I`d mention it...

  • written by Jones in 1946 and first recorded by Burl Ives in 1946. The most famous recording was by Vaughn Monroe in 1948. Both recordings can be heard on youtube. Since then there have been dozens of versions. My favorite is by the Outlaws.

  • Really...i love it, i know it's no Johnny Cash, but nobody will be lol

  • the lyrics are bit different, they seem to imply SEX WITH SHEEPS???

  • dude if youre a drummer

youd know how much fuckin awesome the foot work is on this song!! amazing

  • Johnny Cash if im not mistaken...

  • is this done by david mann?

  • Looks like a david mann spread from an old easyrider I stole from my dad when I was 10 lol

  • yes it is.

  • thanks you

  • can you send my a tabs to this song ?

  • verses in Am - C

    chorus Am - F - Dm - Am

  • Very good version!!!:P

  • this is the best verstion of the song ive ever heard. not including the shodows instrumental verstion. cos thats an instrumental not a song.

  • that would actually be a song......

  • @noheros3

    that is not true

a song is dipicted by the lyrics,

a song without lyrics is an instrumental

but alongside that there are instrumentals with lyrics in.

there is different criteria for every type of musical piece

  • im gonna say setphen segal cos it sais segal int he corner lol

  • im gonna say david mann for the artist

  • fuck you man

  • Best cover for ghost riders EVER!!!

  • Mosh song! :D

  • fucking awesome!!! it was mad coolness when they used a version of this song for ghost rider!!! :P

  • But they didn't use this version. They used one by a different band. Spiderbait, I'm pretty sure.

  • well that sucks a big fat sweaty one!

  • I guess you were expecting a country style version x) but they are a punk band, that's the way it's supossed to sound, I'm afraid you don't like it ^^ because I like country as well :)

at least the likes of Johnny Cash and Hank Williams^^

  • ure stupid bitch

if u dont like this dont listen mtfkr

  • have you listened to ANY of their music? its a rock/punk ish band (dont know exactly what). All they do is rocking fast. If you watched anything else you would never watch this if you didn't like them...

  • i like they

theyre songs r all what i want to listen

  • the band have a stupid name? OK UnholyChicken

  • What are you talking about? Do you talk like you type? It's like a cave man wrote this "the band have a stupid name" me need to kill to eat. You're silly! lol

  • no you douche i was saying that as Unholy chicken had the audacity to say the band has a stupid name, even tho his name is unholy chicken

  • ur retarded this made it better faster and more badass which is more like a gohst ryder fast and badass. who agrees???

  • ghost rider is a fast thing but the movie was slow so this might have not fit the movie but the character hell ya

  • amazing man this rocks

lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol

  • Dave Mann, great biker related artist, title ghost rider, was in easyriders mag about a million years ago it seems like. Dave Mann passed on a couple of years ago, used to be in easyriders monthly.

  • It's allright, but the voice isn't quite suited to the song, it's supposed to have a bit of a menacing sound to it.

  • NO its perfect!! Its suppose to have that high harmony to it.

  • Aright then, but I've listened to just about every version of this song youtube has to offer.

  • lol love it
