Still, with that being said to danielscheil, I kind of feel cheated on the SNES, Super Famicom, and GBA versions of the game not having those good introductory sequences ion the game. Also, I am actually grateful that this is the only version of the game to have a limited missile supply. The game was hard enough to beat even WITH your missiles to begin with and woe be to you if you had played it on Funny mode! By the way, for a slight resdesign, the lady in the game should have green eyes.
Good for you, danielscheil. Way to promote your e-penor for having an obsolete, rare, and very expensive gaming system and even possibly rarer version of the game for it, too...-_-
The X68000's sound quality sounds a little higher than a Sega Genesis/Megadrive/32X/Super32X. No wonder this beautiful mistress machine from Japan, the X68k, never came to the States. I sure wish I had one...
By the way, splendid video you got there. Maybe I'll subscribe soon. :0P
X68000 sound was slightly better than the Mega Drive's, using a superior FM synthesis sound chip with 2 more channels (8 as opposed to the Megadrive's 6).
Although phalanx was originally the software only for x68000, it is transplanted also to SNES or GBA. It seems that however, evaluation of this SNES version is bad between shumper of Japan.
OMG! On the logo is a Tri-Force!

yeah but Phalanx was originally made for the far superior Sharp X68000, then translated down to the SNES and much later, the GBA.

What is the name of the isometric shooter with the er... girl?

It's called "Marchen Maze". Released by Namco back in 1988 in the Arcades(Japan only), later ported to the Sharp X68K.
