I swear it looked as if he was just rolling and flopping around because it was warm sunny and he was in a good mood. Makes me proud that I contributed to this. (Military has something called CFC were we can pick an orginization or charity to donate to. Last time, I picked the Black footed ferret project.)
what you had was a sable ferret, they can look similar and domestic ferrets do have a hunting instinct. unless you caught the ferret killing the animals, and they were outside, i would say mink even fox.
domestic ferrets cannot surrive in the wild. they cannot tolerate heat, and have no fear, they will go up to anything to play.
No we never found him and i still miss him every single day. I have three new ferrets now, Frodo, Fanny and Baba and I will be getting them micro chipped, but of course that information is useless if the finder does not think to take them to the Vet to get it checked.
Not only vets can scan for chips also rescues such as the Humane Society and animal control. i think it is pretty standard that stray animals are checked for a chip. It is very important to keep your information related to the chip up to date. The chip is only good if the information is current. Many people forget to update the chip online when they move. When this happens the finder can still not find the owner and that is just such a shame.
my ferret has been missing since april 12th, have ferrets been found after such a long time? We door knocked the whole area, posted fliers, posters, newspaper ads, offered rewards, and there were two sightings in the first 4 weeks but nothing since. Please advice me?
I know this is a very late reply, but it is a good idea to have your ferrets chipped. VERY IMPORTANT once you do have your ferrets chipped keep your online information UP TO DATE. Too amny times pets are chipped and somebody moves and they forget to update their information! If your pet is then lost, there is no way to find you!
So I cannot emphasize enough. CHIP your ferrets and keep the related information UP TO DATE!
i had a pet ferret and it looked IDENTICAL to pictures i found on goole images of black footed ferrets. i had it neutered and i loved it. but one day it escaped and killed lots of our ducks and hens which i really loved. i was depresade for ages. my dad forced my to release him. we dorve to a big field with a creek. we let him go there will he be ok? plz help
I don't know how long ago you released your ferret, but perhaps you could set a humane trap with nice & smelly wet cat food to try to catch him. Or you can alert animal rescues in the area that a domestic ferret is loose in the area. Someone else may see him and bring him to a shelter. You'll have a better chance with more people looking.
If you or anyone is no longer able to keep a ferret take it to a ferret shelter or any animal rescue. NEVER RELEASE THEM INTO THE WILD!
that means they are playing. my three do this all the time. it's nicknamed the weasel war dance.

oddly enough domestic ferrets (which are originally from Europe) do a very similar dance when playing or excited.

Releasing domestic ferrets into the wild is animal cruelty! Have you seen the ferret since you released it? : (
How do you know that your ferret killed the ducks and chickens?
ferretfanatics 4 years ago
