if they tried to make a video service i would definatley slam cod black ops underground and produce videos using a capture card i have tried and played with there theater mode and its pretty cool cause it captures every inch of the map in video so you can replay the entire battle back and move the camera to where you wanna get the shot so no complaints ther but it depends on how they wanna price the service something like 10 bucks a year i can live with that something huge no way
They are deleting footage due to the pure fact that they don't want people to see it and make up there mind to buy it or not. You can't really compare Activision's possible service to Bungie Pro. With Bungie Pro you're paying for "their" servers to hold more of "your" content, and for them to render your videos. It does cost money, and Bungie sin't made of money. They need to pay for it somehow. Plus Bungie doesn't give a shit if you post the videos on youtube. Activision would take advantage of this by pulling EVERYTHING from youtube to rip people off with their own service. So keep uploading videos. Fuck Activision.

FYI, to those curious about the Halo file share system, which I agree will be a system that Black Ops will (hopeully) similarly, have, it's pretty leniant.
For Reach, everyone has six free file slots with a 100mb cap. So you can upload screenshots/vids/maps/etc. What you get for paying is a lot more file share slots and the ability to render your vids through their website instead of having to use a capture card or the actual game to watch the vids in theater mode.
It was pretty foolish for Activision to pull all those videos. I mean... It's helping people to understand the game and, if anything, increasing the hype which one would assume create more sales, right?
Bungie has Bungie Pro, but there's still a shitload of Halo videos on Youtube. Bungie even encourage people to make their own Youtube videos. With the popularity of CoD, you'd think Activision would similarly embrace their community on a similar level.

There are also some people that only play the game because they are allowed to commentate. A lot of people on Machinima Respawn say they only keep playing MW2 because they make a ton of money off of making commentary.
Making us pay more than we should usually leads to supermassive pirate ass rape.... Just the facts really. Call of duty is a general franchise not only in well developed places, but in the eastern block and others, where people like paying as least as possible. The law there does not work. And a large proportion of the skilled crackers resides there. They can make everything they want publically accesable.
I have no clue why people are going all crazy about this. The only thing I see happening with Black Ops is an ability to post your videos online somehow by paying for a service. This allows people without a capture card to post content by paying a small fee similar to Bungie. I know we all love to whine about Activision, but this is a huge business that understands how youtube is helping their games. Secondly doesn't this behavior remind you of Apple's Iphone 4, was that a success in terms of $?
Activision is sticking a foot up their ass on this one. It's like they know the game will be big, so they are gonna track any and everyone down that doesn't follow their terms. If that is true, videos will still be posted. But sadly it would be to Activision's discretion.

i dont get it, why would they do that? I say the only reason machinima respawn was created was probably because of cod mw2, there were so many of them, they didn't want it on the normal michinima. If they do this we might lose at least 80% of our commentators.
If Activision goes as far as to get footage of their game banned, that will be a sad day for me. I make and upload vids for fun, and I don't see myself uploading to anywhere other than youtube unless they make it much easier to manage and its free. Otherwise, I'll just stick to other games. But besides that, you draw comparisons with bungie and their bungiepro system, I haven't heard any story about bungie complaining that someone is doing a commentary or whatsoever. I just can't justify the $65 that black ops will cost, if you disagree then thats fine, enjoy the game, but I feel like the only incentive to buy it is zombies (though that is one hell of an incentive). anyways BFBC2 vietnam comes out in a couple months, I think I'l wait for that. anybody disagree? Just because someone leaked the beta and uploads footage to youtube doesn't mean Activision is planning to remove all black ops video in the future.
The fact they removed legit videos and trailers from Black Ops seems like it is a mistake.
After Black Ops launch, everything will be back to normal.

FYI, to those curious about the Halo file share system, which I agree will be a system that Black Ops will (hopeully) similarly, have, it's pretty leniant.
For Reach, everyone has six free file slots with a 100mb cap. So you can upload screenshots/vids/maps/etc. What you get for paying is a lot more file share slots and the ability to render your vids through their website instead of having to use a capture card or the actual game to watch the vids in theater mode.

It was pretty foolish for Activision to pull all those videos. I mean... It's helping people to understand the game and, if anything, increasing the hype which one would assume create more sales, right?
Bungie has Bungie Pro, but there's still a shitload of Halo videos on Youtube. Bungie even encourage people to make their own Youtube videos. With the popularity of CoD, you'd think Activision would similarly embrace their community on a similar level.

I have no clue why people are going all crazy about this. The only thing I see happening with Black Ops is an ability to post your videos online somehow by paying for a service. This allows people without a capture card to post content by paying a small fee similar to Bungie. I know we all love to whine about Activision, but this is a huge business that understands how youtube is helping their games. If Activision goes as far as to get footage of their game banned, that will be a sad day for me. I make and upload vids for fun, and I don't see myself uploading to anywhere other than youtube unless they make it much easier to manage and its free. Otherwise, I'll just stick to other games. Sure, I'll still play Black Ops, but it just won't be as fun. I'm sure others that make vids understand where I'm coming from.

Activision pulled ALL CALL OF DUTY BLACK OP VIDEOS including: Trailers, analysis, etc. They didn't care if it was the Beta footage, if it was BO related they pulled it down. All those other games u mentioned are still releasing trailers & allow footage to be used to promote their games. I understand that if u are in the beta for those games u can't post them, but that's not what we are talking about. Agreed Beta footage should've been pulled, just not the rest.

But besides that, you draw comparisons with bungie and their bungiepro system, I haven't heard any story about bungie complaining that someone is doing a commentary or whatsoever. Perhaps Activision's more "businesslike" as opposed to Bungie's more "gamerlike" approach to the industry (those are my words, I'm sure Bungie is very serious as well) comes into play there. Time will tell.
