  • Cyndi is without a doubt one of the absolute greats in music. She did not get the recognition she deserved, and those of us that were there still love her even more today. Her unique style and amazing depth along with her passion have NO equal today. We love you Cyndi!

  • @Lewisusa11 you may be totally right there . setting aside the odd clothes and hairstyles , I LOVE her & consider her to be 1 of the few people whom I wish I could be vocally ( & perhaps physically ) compared to ; personally that would be such an honor if I was .

  • @Renesmee131 Way to generalize :/

  • Wow, and she's even beter today. AMAZING

  • aWESOME!!!

  • Icono..legend,,,cindy te amooo geneal..80s..weee.¡¡

  • I couldn t understand the lyrics until I knew the song is written for a friend she lost because of aids. And the grief that comes out of this performance, now i see why it is there.

All my respect for you Cyndi.

  • Love her and this song! ack! amazing

  • cyndi lauper-boy-blue is awesome g-i-joe989

  • This is just an awsome performace, because it evokes that time, back in the 80's when everyone in the gay community seemed to be dying of AIDs. Nobody could figure out what was going on, and yet it was decimating all these people. Seemingly the most brilliant, most creative, most gifted people were dying all around us. Where are you little boy blue? You were always one step ahead of everyone else. And now you are gone. Gay or straight, it was tragic. Great song. You can feel her passion. Awsome

  • Like her singing on the floor!

  • Simply Beautiful. Her Voice.

  • you know what is funny?

boy blue(nickname) was sitting in the 5th row laughing his ass off

    poor cyndi

  • Excelente.... el tema...el género, la música, muy instrumental....

la década de los 80... la mejor de todas !!

  • Oh 80's :(

  • Whenever I hear this I think of "Blue Boy" magazine (gay mag) that was popular at the same time Lauper was making it big in the early 80's. I suppose it's because the gay clubs welcomed Lauper's music long before it became mainstream. Am not gay, but am thankful I got to enjoy the gay clubs with my college roommate. Heard the BEST music early on!

  • @DeedleDeedleDumplin She mentions "Blue Boy" in her song "She Bop"...

  • oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god!!!!

  • I Watch This Video All The Time. I'm Like One Of The Thousands Of Fans Out There Who Listen To Cyndi. She's On My mp3, In Car, I Love Her. She's Beautiful.

  • What genre of music would I fit in?? and FYI i've heard all the "YOU CAN'T SING"... "YOU SUCK"... "GO GET A JOB"..."OMG,MY EAR IS BLEEDING".."I HOPE YOU'RE NOT SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING MUSIC AS A CAREER" the list goes on and on...if you wish to just answer the question! Thanks in advance :)

  • Gosh her voice still gives me shivers.

  • What is that hand clutching at, at 4:27?

  • @codfanglers1 Nothing it looks like. Just air.

  • God, she has the most amazing voice.

  • This Lady Is Fucking Awesome! I Love Her Voice Range. Have Listened To Her From Day One.

  • Is it me, or is Cyndi Lauper like the onlt singer who's voice has improved with age. Love everything Cyndi Lauper. This was one of my favorite songs of hers in the 80's because of her vocal range.

  • I've had this video in my info in the 90's...got booted...and Cyndi came thru with flying colors in HD. Thank you! And thank you for your devotion to AIDS awareness. You are an amazing woman, mother & friend...

  • I was never really into Cyndi Lauper, but this live version of her song is incredible. It's a nice departure from her regular pop style. She can be very intense!!

  • This Next Song Is A Very Special Song To Me, Because The Best Singer In The World Is Singing It! Her Voice Is Remarkable!

  • I have watched this video so many times. It's my fav. I think it shows her registar and accutually its very challenging to sing on your stomach or back, she is so gifted and wonderful, she captures me every time she sings, everytime. I love you cyindi

  • Madonna came out the same time she did, Madonna was more production than raw talent, Ms Lauper was blessed with a unique voice along with vision, no need for back up dancers & obvious sexual innuendos. I was 9 the year they both came out, everyone dressed like Madonna on Halloween...I was Cindi!

  • @zepDzen I'd have to disagree about the sexual innuendos. Cyndi was as hot as it got.

  • @stillspooky I said "obvious"

  • @zepDzen "She bop"? LOL

  • @stillspooky "She Bop" isn't so obvious compaired to "Like a Virgin" lol no biggie, just my opinion=0)

  • This concert was great back then and her concerts are even better now, especially her blues stuff.

  • @Renesmee131 God, that is so true. It is sad. Underwear does not equate to talent.

  • This performance (and song) will always be a huge favorite of mine. Very few live performances give me the goosebumps, but this one gets me EVERY time. Really now.. how many singers of today can practically scream while singing and still sound amazing?

I wish so much that Cyndi got the recognition in the 80s that she should have. Unfortunately, I think the US just wasn't ready for her quirkiness (which is what I adore most about her). I freakin' adore the woman.. always have, always will!

  • @DeeFrootloop absolutely. goosebumps. everytime. adore this.

  • @DeeFrootloop Ditto on every point...I could not agree with you more.

  • @DeeFrootloop 100% agree with you, (y)

  • Wow. I forgot just how talented she is. She does not get enough credit for her contribution in the 80s

  • Wow. I forgot just how talented she is. She does not get enough credit for her contribution in the 80s

  • Always one of my favorites from Cyndi.......Damm she can sing !

  • The end where she freaks out is my favorite part! Seriously! I feel it shows her passion! SHE'S FUCKING BRILLIANT!

  • (L)

  • THISIS MY GIRL <3

  • I LOVE THIS SONG AND CYNDI LAUPER! LOVE YOU CYN!

  • Love the intensity of this song. The chorus sounds sing-song-ey but then later on she just wails and the mood changes to a darker one; I wish she'd still perform this one live.

  • she is the best

  • Tell me where is little boy blue, ho ho? You'll find him standin' always one step ahead, oh. First a little shy, a little boy blue, woh. Wise blood runs warm and deep. On the street, kids walkin', just a kid walking, just a kid. Who! Hey hey. Where are you? When she put you out on your own. It may have stolen your innocence but not, no not your soul. Tell me where is little boy blue, ho ho? You'll find him standin' always one step ahead.

  • This song has so much power to it I can just feel it it's fantastic!

  • <3 Cyndi Lauper <3

  • My dad has the True Colors Album. I first heard it back in the late '80s; and I still LOVE that album.

  • I got this album for my 8th birthday, I played out the vinyl, I did girls just want to have fun for my 5th grade talent show, ahh the neon and checkers shaved in the side of my head. Thanks mom!

  • 4:20 the meltdown is great!

  • cyndi lauper I <33 U!

  • In my mind, Cyndi's high above the current teeny-bop singers of today in terms of talent and originality. A performance like this one of "Boy Blue" demonstrates that, as do many other live performances of Cyndi on YouTube. She comes from a sincere place emotionally, and her voice is very distinctive and powerful (no lip-synching here!). She has always followed her own muse with each album, not caring so much about commercial success as creating art that is true to her vision.

  • This little, tiny woman, got talent to spare for those who nowadays would lip sync all their way to the top (Justin Bieber, Britney, Ashley Simpson, Miley Cyrus, etc.); way to go Cyndi!

  • @roch202020 there were lip synkers (???) back then too. Just like today, those who can really sing, sing live, such as Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Beyonce, Christina, Mariah, Celine, Carrie Underwood, Lady Gaga, etc. This is just to name a few of the women with amazing voices. Madonna most likely sang live back in the 80's, not so sure about the mid to late 90's because her voice isn't as strong, but she's a great performer, and has the "It" thing, and also very smart in business, so those w/out

  • @roch202020 the great voices have to compensate with something else they may have. For women, it's generally their body, and Britney had not only the best body, but she had a beautiful face (perfect in many ways), and just extremely sweet with a great smile. And, had amazing performances on award shows and great videos, which people today hold onto and with all the craziness it keeps her going. The Ashley S. out there come and go. Miley? not sure. she needs some drama to keep her going becuz

  • @roch202020 she doesn't have the strong voice, not a dancer, but her face is cute/pretty, she's good in interviews, can be interesting to follow, but not sure if that will last into her 20's/30's. Not a good enough actress to go that route, and not business smart and rude/obnoxious/party gal like Madonna was that made her huge too. BUT just my two to three place a bit more cents. :)

  • @desperategirl932 "she doesn't have the strong voice" Are you fucking nuts? Have you even heard anything by her lol? She has a crazy strong voice.

  • @Vaal420 who? Britney spears? Madonna? ................Miley Cyrus? ........???????????? and yes, I am a bit nuts. I'm sitting here commenting on videos and others opinions instead of sleeping or doing something more productive, so yes "desperategirl" = nuts............... :)

  • @Vaal420 Her new blues stuff is great

  • An amazing, intense performance. I would love to see Cyndi live in concert someday.

  • I listened to this song over and over and over in the 80s. I never got sick of it, and I never forgot how it made me feel. I still love it as much now as I did then. And this is an amazing performance! I miss live performances. No one can do this now. No one even tries!

  • Her voice is just amazing.

  • A phenomenal song and performance by Cyndi Lauper. I don't know why it hasn't gotten more public play. Awesome talent! I saw cyndi perform this the first time I saw her in concert.

  • This is from her Live in Paris concert aired on HBO way back in the day. Cyndi was truly phenominal and she's hilarious on the new Celebrity Apprentice.

  • wow shes good

  • I love her! Oh how I wish I grew up in the eighties. <3

  • Holy shit. They don't make em like this anymore....never seen anyone with her level of talent.

  • Oh wow. Cyndi Cyndi Cyndi. 2010. Still surprising me. :D

  • This is not 2010. This performance is back in 1987,

  • Written for her friend, no longer there.

"You'll find him standing / always one step behind."

  • i bet she saves money on a hairdresser.... just wake up in the morning and put on some hairspray! voila! cyndi lauper hair! IM not making fun. I love her !

  • Brilliant. Is it just me though or is this a tad bit faster than the album version?

  • I LOVE HER OUTFIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This live performance rocks. I've seen Cyndi about 20 times in concert. Her live performances are where the bar is set. Just another example of how talented ms lauper is...bravo,cyndi,bravo.

  • @valentino227

you know what you are talking about! I agree 100%!

    pierre

  • Hands down that BEST song Cyndi Lauper has ever written. It's completely underrated and emotionally moving!

  • @csmingus

    yes yes yes!

  • I totally love this song. Here voice just floors me when she jumps an octave. By the way that's Rick Derringer on guitar

  • @streb9 ... and that looks like Shiela E on percussion.

  • @tang9o it'd actually Sue Hadjopoulous on percussion

  • i can't believe this is live :D
