  • This guy looks like he has a rapid fire mod. I love this game but I suck at it

  • Vectrex, my first home arcade system - a sheer beauty of a technological vectorial beast ("Spike", "Scramble", "Berkerk" - talk about memories !). My parents did not want me to use their beloved TV-set at the time (remember the early-mid-80's ?). They were RIGHT. :)

My Vectrex unit still work like a charm - a few glitches just appear on-screen when you do not use it for a long time : i suppose the vec-unit needs to warm-up a little bit.

  • vectrex kicks ass

  • Why isn't there any other games with vector graphics.

If I learn programming I will mke the Vectrex 2

  • @cookie123456789012

There's games still being made with vector graphics. They just don't appear to be vector because of their design or the game has raster graphics mixed in.

Check out Flash game sites. Some Flash games do use raster graphics, but there's still people that work with vector graphics. Some prefer using only vector graphics.

  • I played Minestorm up to level 113 and had to retire due to severe cramp in my right hand. On this level, the mines were homing, firing splitters and it was impossible (for me) to get past.

  • what up averyMaurice

  • Vectrex rules on a place called earth.

    Hail duke Vectrex.

  • How much would this system be worth? I have one sitting in my basement right now in perfect condition... maybe I should check it out..

  • @Model1887PRO1 Dude, here in France, i've seen ads (Ebay-like site, or Ebay) for complete system (the unit with its original packaging + lot of cartridges with packaging, + all the colored layers, etc.) reaching 800 € (roughly, 1€ = 1,3$) - do the math, but test the machine before selling it (i'm talking about november 2011 prices).

  • God I miss this

  • My version hung up on level 89 and extra lives maxed out at 26 (long time ago now) Loved this game and the controllers were top quality. Still have it in my parents basement :)

  • I was the best at this game! Had me a Vectrex in the 5th grade and played it 'til I couldn't anymore, in other words I broke my shit! This vid brought back some memories, I still remember the night I turn it over. It was hard as hell, but it was do-able. Thanks for posting this vid, loved it!

  • @Celestron1980

not a good comment, buts its not spam. Just thought I'd share my opinion: unless a comment is pure gibrish or some kind of stupid chain message, it isnt spam.

  • Right off the bat, I see that "diagonal" meant something slightly different in the early 80s. XD

  • acept the vectrex doesnt suck fuck like the ps3 and any new games .:P

  • No duhh but the ps3 is still pretty lame. (but thats my opinion)

  • @lazerman278 not when you can get the rom for this game on the ps3.. or almost everygame from the 70s 80s and 90s!

  • @TheBudokaiBastard Actually, the Vectrex is better than the gaystation 3

  • PS3 of the day

  • just bought 3 from ebay but all i got in minestorm.very hard.

  • Ok, where the hell are you finding this stuff! I actually got through the whole game once. The last level is magnetic-fireball mines. I'd like to see all Web Wars creatures collected.

  • by whole game what do you mean? Levels 1-13 or Until the game is impossible to continue.

  • I successfully completed all the levels 1-13. It has been a few years, so details are a little hazy... Maybe it looped back around to level 1...?

  • maybe that. Ussally after you get pass level 13 the game either crashes or continues with screwed up scoring depending on the unit

  • Level 13 is the hardest "regular" level with invisible magnetic fireball mines. At first it seems impossible to beat but with a little bit of abstract thinking it becomes obvious. After that the levels can only be described as bizzare. The level jumps are not consecutive and some mines are as wide as half the screen while others can pass over each other but your ship can not. I found this out when I became obsessed and played each evening for 3 months and beat the game at level 98.

  • @IworkforMelBrooks

Please, tell me more about the later levels! :)

  • @IworkforMelBrooks when it hung up for me (level 89 i think), this firey ball drifted across the screen and I can't remember if I could shoot it or not, but once it was off screen, you just sat there with a blank screen and nothing to shoot at. kinda anti-climactic really :-|

  • And when you get far enough along, levels with invisible seeds, magnetic mines with fireballs inside. Heart race much?

  • im a god athis game

  • its a spinoff of asteroids

  • I so wanted one of these when I was a kid.

  • The ship looks like a dick

  • used to play this game in 6th grade as a kid right before i got the NES. loved this system! armor attack was fun too

  • I still own this system, with this game. It is hard as hell.

  • I completely forgot about the Vectrex. I had one just before my first home computer (CPC464). Now I'm a software developper and can finally appreciate the genius of Vectrex. Too bad my parents sold it. This clip brings up many memories, so thank you, tr0d.

  • i used to dream of getting a vectrex !

  • Wait... isn't that just Asteroids?

  • no - it's not.

  • Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery or something like that, right? ;-)

  • Yes, with a flying penis.

  • looks like a fun game!
