Um, sink rate looked a little severe from the "wing bounce" on touchdown, and they were hard right rudder to keep it on the center line. no pressure, guys.
@bluepanther1011 I have to disagree. There are better airlines. Emirates squeeze a 3-4-3 economy on their 777s as opposed to BA or CX where it is 3-3-3. Also, their Business class on the A330 is 2-3-2 as opposed to the common 2-2-2.
@Mazza4Azza I was pointing out that other airlines offer a better configuration and (from experience) better customer service. I didn't say Emirates is a bad airline, just in my opinion not the best. Bluepanther has an opinion as do I.
Oh. I was just wondering how the seating arrangements would decide if it is a good airline or not. I would say a good airline is one that is financially comfortable and offers good luxuries. Airliners have different airplanes. For example, British airways has many aircrafts such as the a320, a321 right to the 747. So obviously the 747 would be better.
@Mazza4Azza Not always though. I would favour the Boeing 777 over the 747 as 747s are old in comparison to most other aircraft in service and the 777 is just much nicer overall. More headroom, more overhead bin space, larger loos. At the end of the day it is the airline, not the manufacturer that decides on the configuration of the aircraft. Emirates may be cheaper and offer slightly more, but if you're uncomfortable for a long flight is it really worth it?
True, very good point made. There's the 747-800F (the 747 dreamliner) coming soon. Search it in on youtube and try and find the video showing inside of it. Yes, I do like the 777 but I've never been in it. I have heard it's the safest aircraft but I will always love the 747. I wouldn't say Emirates is cheap. For 2 adults and 2 children (the average family amount) flying economy is £3,481.04
@Mazza4Azza Very true. BA actually do it Manchester - Dubai (via Heathrow) for roughly £2459 economy, including taxes. And I know for a fact that BA's economy isn't too bad having flown with them to both Riyadh and Orlando.
@Mazza4Azza It's very nice when you get there. For be (being British) you do miss a few things, but it is relatively safe there. You do need a Visa to go in though.
@Mazza4Azza I have to say there isn't really a lot. The cultural side of it is good and you do have a few "landmarks" but it isn't really a country that caters for tourism.
I didn't ever get anything taken from me in Riyadh - though having just come back from Rome to the UK, I wouldn't go again.
2:17, my favourite shot from you this year. It seems you had some very harsh sunlight to deal with, but you did an amazing job at keeping the exposure spot on!
i think the water cannon salute is extremely fitting, and although its only water, it seems magical, and as if, the airport is wishing the aircraft safe flights for years to come.
I originally did not like the A380, but in time, it has grown on me,
i will pop down to manchester when there is less people and the drink and food is back to normal prices ! :D
One of your best I think Simon. It was awesome to be there on such a historic day. It really is a stunning piece of engineering and a beautiful aircraft. Liked and I'm already subscribed ;) Looking forward to more :)
That was very nice Simon. As ever your years of experience with panning and choice shot shines through. Probably not the best place to film her landing but you did a great job of it.
not only that, but if you had the reversers on the outside engines then it could possibly pick up dirt, rocks, etc... because they are sitting so far off of the runway. (Heard it off of a program on discovery that talked about the a380)
Simon, amazing, honestly. Shame this video didn't feature the take off but oh well. Quality is top notch as always, great shot on approach! Keep the great videos coming.
