  • Wow so many memories, thumbs up if you grew up in the 90's!

  • like it

  • For anyone who is curious, the story behind the song can be found by googling "Lela and Raymond Howard".

  • Why can't video producers make the video in line with what the song is about? The song is so awesome, but the video just doesn't match the story of the song at all.

  • 90's ftw

  • buenaaaaa

  • Man these comments sound like Urban Legends... I know that the Alberta couple who vanished haven't turned up, even though they had "A person of interest" in custody, who was spotted around their camper... I think some things are just too tragic...

  • Tom Jones Delilah

  • I love this song

  • Chris Webby improved it and created an amazing song, props to them though, fantastic chorus!

  • this song takes me back to where i would walk down the street i was 7 and singing this song with my brother to our friend's house

  • this song straight up takes me back to middle school. nostalgia rush!

  • I pity the children of today. Not knowing what true music is, and watching that crap on T-V.

  • where r the fuken lyrics

  • @JEEman009 in the description

  • When I was on Active Duty one of the other Sergeants used to tell me this was our branch's real song. This is the real song of the Engineer Regiment.

  • i'm 23 and this reminds me of about 15 years ago... it's still awesome

  • @TheDanielson367 yep i'd always listen to this song on the radio via my black handheld cassette player *memories*....the mix radio in my city played so many good songs and they just play crap now....it's not thier fault though, popular music is just horrible in general now.

  • When I was younger, like when I was 4 or 5, I always thought this song had to do with the movie There's Something About Marry and yes I saw that movie when I was 2 years old.

  • "The Way" revolves around an older married couple who decide to give it all away by packing up and going driving. Along the way, their car breaks down, so they continue on foot. As the song goes on, it becomes apparent that these two achieve happiness by losing touch with the world. - Wikipedia

  • @unwantedtoucher123-haha, good one.Like this. How many parents wish they could do exactly that to their spoiled, little brats. LoL

  • I love this song. <3

  • To me this song seems like it's about two teens taking off for a roadtrip and leaving everything behind them. They're not sure where they're going but they'll know once they get there.

  • lmao @ barbiegirlx123

  • um THERES STILL A EPIC VIDEO UP THERE!! ^

  • @MsMed99 Yeah well FUCK YOU BUDDY

  • one really good hit wonder

  • You are all wrong, this song is about rashes that form on your taint

  • caboose is right

  • You're all retarded, this song is based on a true event that was in the news. It's about these 2 old people that where on their way to their grandsons birthday party and disappeared before they got there. Know one knew what happened to em for a long ass time so some people assumed they just took off and didn't tell any one. Turned out they drove off a cliff or some shit like that on the way to the party...

  • @666XCABOOSEX666 Fastball said they didn't know the ending of the story when they wrote the song

  • @666XCABOOSEX666 ummmm....actually they were going to a festival but got lost, the husband had Alzheimers and the wife was sick, they drove off a cliff and the husband died, wife walked 100yards and died really close to the freeway and they found them a few days later

  • @zaspo so alzheimers causes people to drive off cliffs now?

  • @nickscott10A Did I say that? no, but it causes people to forget things, he forgot the way to the festival and ended up driving off the rode and off a cliff, age and Alzheimers are both to blame.

  • @zaspo i know, i was twisting your words coz sometimes its fun to do that

  • idk why but i feel like rich people listen to this song

  • this song is about alzheimers disease

  • This song makes me think about my father who passed away when i was 5. I love to think that he will never get hungry and never get old and gray. Its always summer, he will never get cold. He is happier there today!

  • This song plays everyday at my job and im always singing it and all the 16-18 year olds have never heard this song or the band its a shame......man I miss the 90's

  • @jasonxscape90 If you did the maths, 16 - 18 year olds were alive in the 90's. I'm 16 and I love this song. Lots of my friends have heard it too.

  • @UreshiiRaspberry but nearly all of them would have never heard of the band. He shouldn't make a blanket statement like "all" but in most cases he is right.

  • god i love being a 90s kid

  • also has hidden meanings for me.... take out the old folks with altimers and look at it like oneis walking to a fresh future!!!

  • Great song, terrible video.

  • Hahaha I didn't remember this song neither the group but this morning I heard the song on a venezuelan radio station and the first thing I did was record it with the cellphone and hear it again and again and again to remind the names xDD

  • "Delilah" is in 3/4 time. This is 4/4..that's only one of the MANY differences amongst the songs. So suck it, gmd1417

  • Hey! DELILAH dude! Get! out! The most goffyist song! The first time I heard it, I broke down laughing, " I felt the knive in my hand and she bitched no more" Ha! Fool!

  • THIS SONG IS A COMPLETE RIP-OFF OF THE TOM JONES SONG "DELILAH" HOW CAN THEY COPY THAT SONG NOTE-FOR-NOTE AND GET AWAY WITH IT?

  • @gmd1417 FUCK YOU

  • For the Edmonton couple who is still missing, bless the families hearts over this Christmas period,God bless you!

  • damn. this song is much more heart wrenching when you know the inspiration for it. :(

  • why do i like this crazy little song so much?!

  • wow I never knew the story of "the Way." What a sad and painful story. the family must have really hurt every time they heard this song. I've always loved this song amd the video is great! Except for the few references to the actual story.

  • this song used to scare me when i was younger..

  • @barbiegirlx123 same I used to ask my dad why they didn't go home

  • @barbiegirlx123 - same for me. Before I even knew about the pretty gruesome inspiration for the song, I always got a really weird feeling when I heard it. Something about the melody always gives me the creeps. My sister-in-law told me the story behind the song about a month ago & it totally gave me the shivers.

  • @barbiegirlx123 i know right!

  • the best

  • Besame besame mucho Each time I bring you a kiss I hear music divine So besame besame mucho I love you forever Say that you'll always be mine Dearest one, if you should leave me Then each little dream will take wings And my life would be through Oh besame besame mucho Ooh I love you forever You make all my dreams come true
  • @darkhoarse820 this song was wrote by a Mexican woman.....

  • @BllueJeeper "Besame Mucho" was, yes. "The Way" was not "wrote" by a Mexican...

  • Exquisite lyrics! What a beautiful metaphor for life and death...

  • I love the lyrics of the song but the video is kinda outta line

  • so.....whats up with the thrusting girl in the beginning?

  • how sad, but they will be remember always through this song. Great song. in a way he captured the true essence of what might have been, he's describing what their souls are doing right now.

  • @piontro One of the great videos really. Yeah the guitar line is borrowed from Steve Millers Abrakedabra but what the hell this song rocks

  • conan was singing some of this on carson and i couldnt figure out what song it was...anyway tadaa

  • anyone can see the road that they walk on is paved with gold. it's always summer you'll never get cold. you'll never be hungry, you'll never get old an gray... You can see their shadows wandering off somewhere. they won't make it home but they really don't care. they're walking the highway they're happy you're there today. TODAAAAAAAAAAAY!

    justsexnonames

  • good memories come to my mind with this song

  • love the meaning to this song 5 *

  • @dodgedart74

isn't it in reference to Havens Gate and the mass suicides?

  • you know, there is no ONE meaning to anything with artistic marret, and for me to say i know THE meaning is arrogant,

have fun its STILL up for interpretation**

  • On another video listed here on the same song, someone says it's just about an old couple who just disappeared,so ????? who knows

  • @TheHauptsturmfuhrer

Thats what I heard. An old couple disappeared, apparently for a "so long tour" of sorts. Supposedly there were sightings all over the country, and they finally found their car smashed at the bottom of a cliff...quite a fantastic grand farewell I think.

Maybe it's just made up, but that's what I remember hearing/reading.

  • I just looked the song up on Wikipedia, and taking Wiki's accuracy into account, it more or less confirmed what I had thought.

  • @TheHauptsturmfuhrer

i think i read an article saying that was what it was.

  • No it was a retired couple with althiemers that left to a family reunion one hours drive away and were found dead at the bottom of a canyon cliff 3 days drive away.

  • What's the song that is similar to this and has lots of harmonica sound in the middle?? Damn, I can't remember any lyrics.

  • love this video

  • reminds me and my ma of vampires. cute, hah?

  • thanks for posting this amazing song, iv'e been trying to find it for years, it gives back good memories of my dad before he passed away

  • i know how you feel man i've been looking for this song for a like 10 years when my cousin played it for me before he killed himself

  • @lildjrankin My dad used to play this song with his guitar, everytime I hear this it reminds me of him. Im sorry about your dad

  • Beautiful song. I am trying to spread the word, watch "money as debt". Sorry if it has nothing to do with this video but you are good people who deserve the truth.

  • @TruthSmack

careful now....lots of people don't want to accept the truth let alone hear the truth. But bless you for trying.

  • @TruthSmack holler

  • Amazing song. Amazing.

  • Its on a true story of Lela and Raymond Howard, elderly couple from Texas who drove to a nearby family reunion and kept going. She had Alzheimer's and he was recovering from brain surgery. When they disappeared,a reporter wrote articles about the missing couple. Bassist Tony had the idea for the song after reading it. He says"It's a romanticized take on what happened"he"pictured them taking off to have fun, like when they first met."But found that the couple had died.Found at the bottom of a canyon.

  • @D00weed I heard that on VH1 greatest songs of the 90's

  • @D00weed

Thanks, I like this song, but could never quite figure out what it was about. I did know the couple died, but that was it.. Thanks for the insight!

  • @D00weed Thats a sad ending:/

  • @D00weed wow thats sadly nice

  • damn, i haven't heard this song in like 10 years. AWESOME!!! what ever happened to good 90's music?

  • greedy corporations and record labels taking control. same as happened in the 80's 70's and so on.

  • hahah we amde a dance to this song for are french teacher that just reired

  • Amazing song and what's more, inspired by a true story, something i always like....Great!!!! Love it... <3 <3 <3

  • excellent song, but horrible video :P

  • maybe it's about the panic felt by aging hipsters at the prospect of growing old and grey. And then the ignorant abdication of maturity and responsobility.

    kulturpessimus

  • it's about an elderly couple who were going to the "Texas pioneer day festival" who broke down, and decided to walk the rest of the way, 2 weeks later they were found dead, 100's of miles from the main road, supposedly they were happier without the distractions of life

(if memory serves me that is)

  • Comment removed

  • hahaha. i love what its about. like this elderly couple just up and drove off one day... but really their RV rolled off a cliff. hehe. oopsies!!!

  • so 90's.. or at least i think its from the 90's >.>

  • yeah forever... thats where i learned it

  • It's about this couple who decided to drive away and they were never seen again. Until their RV was found at the bottom of a cliff. I think they didn't know that part yet when the song was writen. VH1 best 100 songs of the 90s told me.

  • my husband says its about deadheads. lol. Could be. But I definately feel some kind of "crossing over" vibe to it. I dont really feel like its a sad song tho. The road is paved in gold ya know. besides they're happy they're there today. haha

  • 0:11-0:13 O.o

  • its about a news article they read about an old woman and old man who just left one day and never said where they were going...... and it turns out yeah they died

  • is this about death? but any ways the song rockz

  • i dont know?!? and i agree this is my friends FAV... song eva!1 anyway its either bout some-1 dying and goin to heaven or a paradice island or somtin

  • @lazermat22 : no it's not, it's about an old couple who just left. without ever knowing the way.

  • they knew they were going to a pioneer festival, there RV broke down though, and they decided to wander off and enjoy the free life instead of following the highway. its now that they didn't know "the way" they just stopped caring and enjoyed what was left of there lives together, they were eventually found dead, but it is believed that they were happy

  • This is sad song!

  • u realize dookie is shit right? or are u really just a cunt?
